Getting Slapped in the Face is Not Fun

Running through the woods in the middle of the night, with a giant creature behind you is not my normal wake up call. Now, I'm not saying that I always wake up to an alarm clock, but this is definitely a different way.

Looking behind me, I saw this giant hairy beast charging through the woods, with saliva swinging from it's mouth.

I have seen this creature many times before, except that it had on a muzzle, with chains tying it down, and was usually on a sleeping spell. Actually, this creature was my pet. Everyone has pet problems right? The dog pooping on the carpet, the cat scratching up your favorite sweater, the viper eating your hamster, etc.. But my pet was different. It was about the size of a small house, but was all muscle. It has teeth as sharp as swords and hair as thick as a shaggy carpet. In fact, I named this beast Shag. He even has a pink collar that proves it.

Shag has always been a good dog. Or whatever he is.

He always slept and ate his food, rarely pooped since his body is so big, and only ever ate one horse.

He never tried to get out of his chains until my friend took them off and set Shag on me.

I should probably reconsider him as a friend.

But with my only pet in the world trying to bite my head off, I completely ignored everything that happened.

I'll make my non-friend pay later.

If there even is a later.

Sweat started dripping on my shirt as I ran through the Forest. The Forest is not a friendly, bird singing forest. No. It's an evil, rip your throat out type of forest.

Adrenaline was pumping through my body making my eyes widen and my legs move quicker.

"Don't die, don't die, don't die," I muttered under my breath as I bolted through the dark thicket.

Every second that I ran deeper through the Forest, the sky got darker and darker.

"I thought it was supposed to be morning," I grumbled.

Shag kept growling and occasionally stopped to howl.

Maybe he was part dog.

Vines started popping out of no where, and I realized that I have never been this far in the Forest. No one is exactly allowed in the Forest because it is a borderline between Sunsell and Darcrawl. Sunsell is pretty much a cliché fairytale kingdom with princesses and princes and lame wizards. In Darcrawl, there are cool thieves, and awesome witches, oh, and of course me. A villain.

Although I was running for my life (most literally), the thought of going into Sunsell crossed my mind and scared me even more. If you live in Darcrawl, you only ever go into Sunsell if you are invited to cause some trouble. Sunsell is all about tradition and fairytales, and every fairytale needs a good old fashioned villain right? So if you are a true villain (which I am), then you get invited to do some bad in the world.

The only problem is that whatever you do, you can't defeat the good. The good always win. No matter what.

I felt my foot get caught on something, and before I knew it, I hit the ground.

"Ugh," I groaned, and slowly stood up. I looked behind me and saw nothing. Just darkness.

I didn't hear any heavy breathing (except my own), no growling, no howling, no nothing.

Maybe he had taken a wrong turn. But I knew I was wrong.

Out of nowhere, Shag jumped out at me, and pinned me to the ground.

I hadn't had anytime to react. Me head hit the ground with a thud.

"Shag," I groaned. My vision was all blurry, and whenever I moved, my vision skittered until it adjusted to the almost black forest.

I felt some saliva fall onto my face, but I couldn't make out where on my face.

I felt my body moving, but I couldn't control it. Before I knew it, I was running again, of course at a strange angle, but I was away from Shag.

My body hit the ground again, and this time, I completely blacked out.

~ ~ ~

My eyes shot wide open and I jumped up.

"Where is he? Where is Shag?" I asked myself.

I paused, realizing that I was still alive. "Where am I?"

Looking around, I couldn't tell. I only saw trees and thorns, but I saw some light a few yards away from me.

"Light's good," I mumbled under my breath.

I started walking over to the light, when I felt a searing pain in my leg. I looked down and saw blood dripping down my leg. There was a huge cut, very deep too. It was a fang mark. I winced in pain, and started hobbling over to the light.

I finally reached it, and spun around. There were sweet little birds flying around bright flowers which were growing out of light green grass.

"Oh crap," I muttered. I was in Sunsell.

My normal instinct would be to run back to Darcrawl, but right now my head was extremely messed up. So instead of panicking, I started walking deeper and deeper into Sunsell.

Slowly, the trees started to lessen, and I could actually see the sky. Unlike the sky in Darcrawl, the sky here was light blue with fat puffy clouds. I smiled slightly. I had never seen a blue sky before. It was, different.

Up ahead, there was a huge tower, with pink bricks and a spiraling roof. There were several windows on the top, and the lights were off.

Maybe no one was home, I thought, being the complete idiot I am.

And to increase my idiocy scale (which was about to reach the top), I decided to climb the stupid tower. I took two knives out of my pocket, and stuck one in the wall. I pulled myself up with using my one arm and one leg, then I used the other knife to do the same thing. I kept using the knife trick to scale the giant tower, and finally, I made it to the top.

I crawled through the window, and slouched against the wall, breathing heavily.

I closed my eyes a second, and when I opened them, I saw something completely horrifying; a girl.

Not only was this creature a girl, but it looked as if a fairytale threw her up.

She had perfectly styled blonde hair that looked as if it had been spun with golden thread. Her crystal blue eyes looked at herself in a mirror. She had a tiny nose, full pink lips, soft eyebrows. This girl was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Then again, the girls in my village all had sickly deformed features.

She turned around slowly, and gave me a smile that I think was supposed to be sweet, but scared the heck out of me. She widened bright blue eyes, but kept her sickly sweet smile.

"Are you my prince? Are you here to save me?" she asked in a super high pitched voice.

I raised my eyebrow at her. "Excuse me?"

"Are you my savior? Are you my rescuer?" She asked again.

I shook my head slowly. "I'm sorry, but I don't think so."

She narrowed her eyes. "Then why would you come here?" she asked, her voice very cold.

I put my hands in the air. "If you aren't blind, you could see that I'm decently hurt," I said pointing to my leg.

She started walking towards me. "Why are you here?" she asked again, getting very close to my face.

"Because I'm injured-" I said my voice trailing off.

She looked me in the eyes and glared. "You ruined everything!" She screamed and slapped me in the face.

I immediately put my hand to my face. "God-ow! What do you mean I ruined everything?"

She stormed away stomping around the room.

"You're not a prince, are you? No you're not. You're a villain! And a villain cannot rescue a princess! That's obscured! The birds will tell my parents that someone climbed in my tower and rescued me! But when they find out you're a villain, oh am I going to get it!" She yelled.

I stood up, trying not to put pressure on my leg. "Look Beauty Queen, I didn't mean to climb your precious tower, but I am severely injured, okay?"

She shot me a look. "Don't call me Beauty Queen! I am Princess Rosetta of Sunsell!" She protested, straightening her posture.

"And I'm a Xander, a villain of Darcrawl," I mimicked.

Silence filled the room and we just stared at each other.

"What do you mean by birds telling your parents?" I asked, breaking the silence.

She snorted. "The birds are like messengers. They see everything, hear everything, and tell everyone. And now they think that you climbed up the tower to save me!"

"Oh. That would be a problem," I muttered.

"Uh, ya!" she agreed.

"One last thing. Can't you climb down the tower? I climbed up with an injured leg," I pointed out.

She shrugged. "Well ya, but I wanted to be rescued by a prince of course!"

I sighed and looked around the room. There was a giant bed with pink designs everywhere, a huge white dresser with a circular mirror. Nothing looked interesting.

"Of course," I mumbled.

We looked at each other.

"I hate you," she said simply.

I smirked. "Thank you."

"You're so annoying!" she cried and stormed off to the other side of the room.

And I thought princesses were supposed to be friendly.
