As Memaw was upstairs getting her purse and wallet. Mason came up onto the doorstep and rang the doorbell. He looked really nice, because that's the way Memaw liked when a man took a woman on a date somewhere. We opened the door to see him and he smiled

"Hello Mr. Kennedy, how are you this evening?" I said as he shook my hand

"I'm good, how are you Analeigha?" Mason said with a warm smile

"That's good and I'm also doing well". I said

"That's good, I can't wait to see Loretta". Mason said

"Yeah. She can't wait to see you either". I said

"I am taking her to that restaurant that looks like a barn, but it's a beautiful and wonderful place to eat and conversate". Mason said

"Oh, I have ate there". I said

"I have too". Mama said

"I have too, but it's been a long time". Mason said

"Memaw will be down here in a minute". I said

"I'll wait, there is no rush". Mason said

"That's one thing Memaw hated about Papaw, he always rushed her". I said

"Tell me about it". Mama said

"He's a real southern gentleman". I said

"He better be". Mama said as she smiled towards Mason's direction as he smiled back

"Okay Mama, you can stop giving Mason your death glare smile". I said

"He better not hurt her, or else". Mama said as she walked over to Daddy

"He won't". I said said as I walked past her

Then, Memaw came down the stairs as Mason's looked away from us and as his eyes lit up like a million stars in the sky

"Loretta, I can't tell you how beautiful you look". Mason said

"You just did, honey". Memaw said

"Well, that's because you had the words flow right out of my mouth". Mason said

"Well, I can't be the whole reason". Memaw said

"Yes you can". Mason said

"I hope you have an appetite". Mason said

"I do!" Memaw said

"Well then, beautiful lady, let's go". Mason said as he wrapped his arms around Memaw's waist and walked out the door

"Okay handsome man". Memaw said

"You just keep getting prettier every time I see you". Mason said

"Oh honey, that's not true". Memaw said

"Yes it is!" Mason said as he kissed her cheek

"Wow! I felt sparks on my cheek". Memaw said

"I can't wait to kiss those lips of yours". Mason said as Memaw smiled

"Well, if our date goes well, you might just suspect a surprise". Memaw said as Mason opened up the passenger side door and Memaw climbed in as he shut the door and she buckled up as he came around and got in the driver's side

"I don't really like surprises, but I would love one from you any day". Mason said

"Well then, your in for surprise honey". Memaw said as she kissed Mason's cheek in return

"Wow! I felt a spark too". Mason said as he started up his engine and buckled as he drove as he held out his hand for Memaw to slip hers into his and she did

"Great minds think alike". Memaw said

"Yes they do!" Mason said as he pulled up at their destination

"Oh Mason, it's beautiful!" Memaw said

"It was supposed to be a surprise, but I thought that since this is our first date, it would be rhetorical to do that to you". Mason said

"Oh, I'm surprised and this is the most elegant place a man has ever took me too". Memaw said

"Your husband never did this for you?" Mason said as he looked at the sadness in her eyes

"No, he did not believe in romantic gestures or anything extravagant". Memaw said as Mason wiped a tear from her eye

"Well, I'm here now, so I'm going to spoil you, because you deserve it darlin' ". Mason said as he kissed her temple and the side of her face

"Okay, but I don't deserve all this". Memaw said

"Yes you do, because you never got any kind of special treatment, so I'm going to spoil you like crazy". Mason said as Memaw unbuckled her seatbelt and hugged him

"I have known you for a long time Mason Kennedy, but I never thought about you asking me out for a date as great as this one". Memaw said

"Well, I have known for a long time too Loretta Lynn, but you were married to an unfaithful man who ripped your heart in two all the time". Mason said

"Well, now I have you to put back together again". Memaw said

"Yes you do! Now, let's go eat". Mason said

"Okay, baby". Memaw said as Mason got out and came over to Memaw's side and opened the door for her and helped her out

"Wow! You look so beautiful in the sunset". Mason said

"Why thank you honey". Memaw said as she smiled her bright pearly white smile

"I hope you like this place?" Mason said as he slipped his hand into Memaw's

"I love it already!" Memaw said

"You know, I thought about this being our place and our spot". Mason said as Memaw smiled

"I would love that. Maybe after dinner, if it ain't dark out, you could show me around baby?" Memaw said as Mason smiled

"I would love too". Mason said as they entered the restaurant as they were escorted to their table and seated as they were given their menus and drink choice to order

"Welcome, Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Lynn". The waitress named Sarah said as she stood there grinning from ear to ear

"Honey, you can just call me Loretta". Memaw said with her accent that everyone loves so much

"Okay Loretta, what would you like to drink?" Sarah said as she was kind of nervous

"I would like a sweet tea with lemon wedges, please". Memaw said with her smile

"Okay and Mr. Kennedy, what would you like to drink?" Sarah asked as she squealed with delight and happiness

"I would like a sweet tea with lemon wedges, please?" Mason said as Memaw smiled and Sarah wrote down their drink requests

"Okay, well I'm going to go and get your drinks and y'all just tell me when y'all are ready to order, okay?" Sarah said with all the joy in the world

"Okay honey". Memaw said

"So baby, what are you going to order?" Mason said as Memaw looked through the menu

"The country spaghetti and garlic bread sound delicious, did you find anything you want babe?" Memaw said

"I will order the same thing baby". Mason said as Memaw smiled

"Great minds think alike". Memaw said

"Yes they do!" Mason said

A few minutes later, Sarah came back to take Mason and Memaw's food requests

"Have y'all figured out what y'all want to eat?" Sarah said

"I will have the country spaghetti and garlic bread honey". Loretta said

"I will too darling". Mason said

"That is a great choice, plus someone who is a huge fan of yours ordered y'all a salad and a dessert to share". Sarah said

"Well, that was really nice of them". Memaw said

"They can't stop talking about how beautiful you look tonight". Sarah said as Memaw blushed

"Well, I would love to meet this wonderful person". Memaw said

"I will go get them". Sarah said

"That would be great honey". Memaw said as Sarah went to get this wonderful person that Memaw would consider family, even though she did not know this person

A few moments later, Sarah brought over a beautiful young lady named Michelle and she got really excited

"Hey baby, how are you?" Memaw said as Michelle got really excited

"I'm great now, since I've met you". Michelle said

"Well why didn't you come over here when I first sat down?" Memaw said as she held Michelle's hands

"I didn't want to disturb you and this gentleman". Michelle said

"Oh me and Mason go way back, me and him just never got to really see each other, because of my husband and all". Memaw said

"Oh okay and I totally understand". Michelle said

"Michelle, if you would like to join us, you can?" Mason said

"Oh I don't want to interrupt your time together". Michelle said

"Your not interrupting anything, and I can tell that you've always wanted to meet Loretta". Mason said

"Okay and yes, I've always wanted to meet her, because she's my idol and everything else". Michelle said

"Honey, you did not have to buy us anything". Memaw said

"Well, I had extra money, because I am here for work". Michelle said

"Oh well, where do you work?" Memaw said

"For the local publishing company". Michelle said

"My granddaughter is going to journalism school to become a journalist". Memaw said

"I know. I met Analeigha a couple of years ago while she was in a local coffee shop signing books and autographs and she could tell how eager I was to meet her". Michelle said

"Well, Analeigha is not stuck up. She might be Queen and have money, but my girls know not to be rude and disrespectful to someone". Memaw said

"December detergent was so nice and so interested in what I had to say. We got hot chocolate afterwards and she even gave me a tour of Harrington Palace". Michelle said

"My baby is a sweetheart". Memaw said

"Yes she is!" Michelle said

"Analeigha's best friend dumped her for her no good of a boyfriend and she has been depressed lately, but it's getting better. She says it's because I came and made it better, but she needs a best friend who does not want a relationship". Memaw said

"I would love to get to know her better, maybe when she has time or when you get time". Michelle said

"She always has time for sweet people like you and she would really enjoy the company". Memaw said

"Okay, well I have a day off tomorrow, so I will come by to see her and visit". Michelle said

"She would love that baby!" Memaw said as Michelle's face got really big when Memaw called her baby

"I can't wait to see her tomorrow! Michelle said

"She can't wait to see you either baby!" Memaw said

"Well, it was a pleasure meeting you Loretta and tell Analeigha I am stopping by to see her tomorrow". Michelle said

"Okay baby, well give me a hug and kiss, because your one of mine now". Memaw said as Michelle gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek

"Can I take a picture, so I can put it in my picture album and in a frame?" Michelle said

"Of course baby!" Memaw said as she posed with Michelle with their pearly white smiles

"Alright, I will you and and Analeigha tomorrow". Michelle said all excited

"Okay baby". Memaw said as Michelle hugged her and left

"She is a sweetheart". Mason said

"Yes she is!" Memaw said

Sarah came back with their food and made sure they were comfortable

"This is delicious". Mason said

"Yes it is!" Memaw said

"I always loved the country". Mason said

"Me too". Memaw said

"I enjoy peace and quiet, so when I'm not busy being a business person. I can just enjoy being around peace and nature". Mason said

"I love the scenery and just everything is so beautiful". Memaw said

"Being queen must have had a lot of busy times?" Mason said

"Yes it did!" Memaw said

"I really enjoyed coming to Harrington Palace, because it never felt like a hostile environment". Mason said

"Well, I don't like when a place I used to call home becomes negative". Memaw said

"Does it ever feel like you should have stayed queen?" Mason said

"Yes and no. The reason I say yes is, because I miss my family and seeing them, and no, because I was two queens at once and I love to sing and be with my family, because they always have me to sing for some big event". Memaw said

"I love you being the queen of anything". Mason said

"Why, thank you honey!" Memaw said

"You're welcome babe". Mason said as Memaw smiled

"Well, I'm stuffed babe". Memaw said

"Me too honey". Mason said

"Alright, let's go baby". Mason said as he helped Memaw up and went and paid for dinner and went to walk around to help them digest their food
