Her Only Friend

"Isabella?" Phillip wondered aloud. He had figured out that the dragon was Annelisa's friend, but why was she using part of her name?

"Why are you calling her by your name?" He asked, and politely as he could.

"I gave it to her." She said as she began to wipe the tears from her eyes. "S-she didn't have a name. So I gave her one of mine." She shook her head in disbelief. Isabella was all she had ever known, she was like her mother. No, her mother gave her to a dragon in hopes she would meet a prince. Isabella was like her fairy godmother.

Phillip took a step back. She had given a dragon one of her names. She was a princess. That name was like a key into her family history, and she gave it to a dragon.

He didn't know what to do. He walked towards her and held out his hand. He was there to save her, and at the very least he was going to save her from the sadness he caused.

She looked at him, astonished. She then stood up, without his help, and slapped him.  Annelisa then stomped away. She was hurt, sad, lonely, overcome with grief, but most of all she was angry. How dare he come into her life, kill her only friend, and then try to bandage it by helping her up.

She didn't want any of it. She wanted Isabella to be alive. She wanted to be trapped in her castle. She wanted Isabella to be avenged.

As Annelisa walked to her bedroom she had one thought:

I am Anne. I am not a damsel in distress. I am going to take revenge on him.

As she crawled into bed, her thoughts changed:

I am no longer Annelisa Romero Mariana Mary Isabella III. I am Anne now. I will avenge her.
