Chapter 8 Visit by Night

  Marinette's  POV:

I stood on my balcony later that day.

I realized it had been two weeks after the rotten date with Charlie and one week after Chat Noir came to see me again.

I was not sure what to do. I was shocked at the attention Adrien had given me recently.

I must admit it was so confusing.

    I sighed.

I  looked at the stars like I thought perhaps they held the answers.

I  shook my head because I knew I must discover them myself.

   "Hi, princess!"

I turned around when I heard a familiar voice speak.

  "Chat Noir, is everything alright?"

"Yes, I just wanted to see you."

I nodded my head and stood with my hands on the railings of the balcony.

I looked over Paris in all its splendor.

   Chat Noir smiled.

I could tell he was glad to see me.

I would not admit it, but  I was happy to see him on this fine evening.

"Don't you have some damsels to help?"

"The only damsel I am interested in is you, princess."

      I blushed at the compliment.

      I saw him smirk.

    "Princess, your face betrays you."

"  Is  there food on it?"

"No, but there is a lovely blush mark across it."

I blushed harder at his words.

"Marinette, princess, what brings you out here this night?"

"I came to look at the stars."

"I do think they seem to be at peace."

"Nah, there are just balls of burning gas, nothing peaceful at all."

       I chuckled.

Chat had a way of making me laugh.

"So, you find me amusing, do you?"

     "Not at all."

I saw him cross his arms.

I noticed his expression change immediately.

  "Fine, you are amusing, happy?"

"Yes, I am very happy, princess."

I noticed his voice seemed lower than usual.

I did hope he was not catching a cold.

I would feel bad if he got sick.

I did not have time to ask him.

I felt him pull me close.

   I was shocked.

It was the first time we had been that close in weeks.

  "C-Chat N-Noir," I heard myself stutter.

   "Y-Yes, p-princess, M-Marinette," I heard him say as if in a daze.

   "Why are you so close?"

"I like being close to you, Marinette."

I reached up and kissed his cheek.

Funny, how much like a cat he sounded now as he started to purr.

"Marinette, I admit I had another reason for coming."

"Oh, what might that be then?"

    "Adrien sent me."

At the mention of Adrien,  I  looked puzzled.

   "A-Adrien gave me roses today."

" I am not sure what for it was odd."

   "Odd, in what way?"

"He never did any other time, and I am confused why he would today."

Chat Noir thought for a moment.

"Perhaps, this Adrien fellow likes you."

He thought I know he does because I like you, and I'm him.

      I shook my head.

   "Adrien, like me?"

  "You must be joking."

" He is so gorgeous, funny, nice, and rich."

" I am a silly girl who is nothing."

"I am not a social butterfly."

"Do not be so hard on yourself, princess, I am sure Adrien likes you. He is an excellent judge of character. Chole is too rude for him to ever like more than a friend. So you have nothing to worry about Marinette."

     I gasped.

It was the second time he insisted Adrien liked me.

If he liked me so much then why did not he come himself instead of sending Chat Noir to discuss such a thing?

"No, he sees me as a friend."

"No, he sees you as more. I know."

    "C-Chat Noir, what about you?"

"M-me?"

"Yes, you what do you see me as then?"

"I see you as a pretty companion, someone I can confide in, and as a person whom I feel interested in deeply."

I  almost passed out at his words.

I knew then my visitor by night was right.

Oh, why couldn't I see it before?  Both Adrien and Chat Noir liked me.

How could I choose between them?

I  saw his eyes sparkle in the moonlight.

I did not say another word only enjoyed looking into his green dashing eyes.

There was something familiar about them, but what?

Chat Noir as if on cue, kissed me. I do not mean on the cheek either.

I was taken aback but kissed him back.  I hoped Adrien would not mind.

"I   like Adrien, but I like you too, Ch-Chat N-Noir."

Great, now I stutter for them both, I thought.

       I  kissed him once more.

I waved goodbye as he left.

I slept well that night with certain blonde-haired green-eyed boys on my mind.

One is a classmate, friend, and crush, and the other is a cat boy in a leather suit and crush.

The next day, I said nothing about the previous night.  It was Saturday now.

     I looked at my phone.

I had a text from Chat Noir and an incoming phone call from Adrien.

Ah!  Which should I respond to first?

Who am I kidding?  I answered the phone.

   "Hello?"

 "Hi, Marinette, you okay?"

  "Y-Yes, why?"

"You left in a hurry yesterday. I thought you hated the flowers."

"No, I loved them. I was just surprised at the gesture. Alya and the others teased me almost nonstop you know."

I did not tell him about Chat's visit, or the kiss. Somehow, it did not seem appropriate at the time.

     I answered Chat's text.

Kitten... I am on the phone with Adrien, Can you believe it?

  Chat's text...good for you princess.

"Oh, is that so?"

 "Yes."

"Why did you give me flowers?"

"I thought that was what boys are supposed to do for their crush."

I blushed. So, the chat was right. Adrien does like me.
