~Trials Part One~
Sorry this took so long doods. Enjoy the chapter!
~Third Person~
It was almost the crack of dawn when the group landed at their destination. It was a rather steep cliff called the Cliff's of Insanity. They were called this because a man would go insane because of the harsh climb or drop.
Now Ty was already insane. A climb for him wouldn't change his mind at all. But, he wouldn't be climbing it himself. No, he was making Lachlan carry them all up the cliff, considering he was the strongest of them all.
Preston was worried for his friend. Lachlan was being forced to carry all of them up a rather large cliffside, that normal men would've gone insane climbing. He grabbed the Prince from his position on the ground and dragged him carefully off the ship. He knew what they were doing was wrong, but Ty would have all three of them killed in a heartbeat. So would Prince Sky, who had assigned them this job.
Mitch was still in shock from the encounter with the shrieking eels the night before. Nothing had terrified him like that, but yet, he wasn't scared. He actually was okay with dying, then he could be with his one true love.
But what he didn't know, is that he would see his love soon enough.
As the group made their way up the jagged cliffs, the mystery man that had been following them the night before, docked right next to the group's boat.
"He's climbing the rope." Preston stated as he watched from above.
Ty and Mitch looked down to witness the black-clad man getting closer and closer.
"Inconceivable! CLIMB FASTER LACHLAN!" Ty exclaimed loudly.
"I'm trying mate!" Lachlan grunted out.
Mitch kept his eyes on the man below, hoping he would somehow be able to rescue him. But he knew that the chances were slim, considering it was three against one.
They finally reached the cliff's summit, and all three if Mitch's kidnappers jumped into action. Lachlan held onto Mitch so he couldn't run, Preston helped Ty run over to the giant rock and began to cut the thick rope they used to climb up.
Once it was cut, they rushed to the edge of the cliff, and let out a sigh of annoyance to see the masked man still climbing up, just this time he was climbing very very slowly.
"Inconceivable." Ty muttered under his breath. He turned to Preston. "I want you to stay here and watch him. Once he reaches the top, you will fight him. Me and Lachlan will take the Prince ahead. Once the masked man is dead, you will meet up with us. Got that?"
Preston nodded and pulled out his sword from his scabbard. He practiced swinging a few times, before sitting down on a nearby rock. Ty tolled his eyes and motioned for Lachlan to follow.
As soon as the trio were out of sight, Preston rushed towards the edge and peered down.
"You doin alright there?" Preston yelled down.
"You know, it would be really helpful if you would let me climb in peace. Unless you have a rope or anything useful?" The man yelled back. Preston nodded his head and rushed over to what was left of the rope they used. He unraveled it a bit, before running over to the edge and dropping it to the masked man, who gratefully allowed Preston to help him up.
"Thank you." The man said as he began to draw his sword, but Preston stopped him.
"No, we'll wait until you're ready. Rest up. You've had a long climb."
"Thank you again." The man said as he sat down on a rock to rest. "May I ask for your name?"
"My name is Preston Arsement. And what may I call you?" Preston as he studied the man in front of him. Bold brown eyes stared back just as curious.
"You can call me Bacca. My name shall remain anonymous until I feel the need to release it. Also, what happened to your face if you don't mind me asking?"
Preston sighed, before explaining the story behind the scar that went from the bottom of his left eye, to the top of his chin.
"I was 9 years old when it happened. My father was tasked to making a special sword for the fight hand man of the king, who had weird neon blue eyes. But once it was done, he found it unworthy and slit my father's throat. I tried attacking him, but failed to do so. I don't know why, but he let me live that day. But he gave me this scar, as a warning. Ever since I've been tracking him down so I could avenge my father."
Bacca just nodded before standing up and drawing his sword.
"You ready?" Bacca asked as he got into a dueling position. Preston unsheathed his own sword and nodded.
They circled each other, before Preston tried taking the first offensive movement. They parried each other's attacks and dodged more deadly strikes. This continued for a while until Bacca knocked Preston's rapier out of his hand.
Preston dropped to his knees, ready for Bacca to kill him, but what he heard confused him.
"You've fought well. I enjoyed that little match. I think I'll keep you alive. But! I can't have you following though so...."
Bacca hit the back of Preston's head with the butt of his sword and watched as Preston crumbled to the ground.
"I hope you know I hold you in the highest respect." Bacca said as he sheathed his sword and gave a small bow before running off in the direction the trio had gone. The rush he had gotten in the duel with Preston had filled him determination. (A/N: Sorry I had to XD)
He marched on down the path, ready for whatever lay ahead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And here we go! Trial one with Preston is finished! I'm not good at writing fight scenes so yeah.
It's currently midnight, which is why I split this chapter in three. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed and I'll see ya later!
