Chapter Thirteen
Autumn's POV
"Peroxide! We need more peroxide and numbing meds! Hurry, we're losing more blood!" I hear someone shouting commands as I gain consciousness. I don't open my eyes. My head feels like it's on fire from the inside out, and I feel to weak to move. I suddenly remember the past events and put it all together. I'm in the hospital, and they're still truing to fix me. My head throbs and my face burns with each new pulse. I groan in agony and open my eyes slowly. I see doctors everywhere running around or attending to my wounds. A doctor putting peroxide on my head notices me awake and alerts everyone. "The meds wore off! We need more!" She yells and many nurses scamper to assist, bringing a needle to my arm and filling it with fluid. I flinch but soon fall back into aching sleep.
Luke's POV
I get a call from the hospital saying that I'm Autumn's emergency contact, and that I should get there as soon as possible. I hope she's okay! I hope it's not too serious. I grab my car keys and get permission from the police to speed to the emergency room. Once I reach the hospital, I check in and rush to room 148, which is supposedly her room. Only it isn't, and instead I find a hairy, naked-I think? Idk too much hair to tell-lady staring at me. "Are you the nurse that's supposed to help with my fungus toes and hair removal? Aren't you a cutie?!" She shrieks in a cracked voice of a smoker, and I shake my head no. Then I run to the room next to her, and sigh in relief when I see Autumn asleep on a hospital bed. A doctor with a clipboard comes in, checks her vital signs and scribbles them down, and is about to leave when I tap him on the shoulder.
"Is...she okay?" I ask nervously. He nods.
"Her vitals are in good condition now and her brain and bodily functions are mainly stable. Unfortunately, she has had a large amount of head trauma." He sighs and points to her. I notice the bandages wraps all along her head and the upper half of her face above her nose, and she's hoocked up to an oxygen machine. I almost cry at the sight of all the aftermath. She must be feeling horrible. "I must warn you, with this trauma, she may experience hallucinations from time to time, irreversibly for the rest of her life. She may also be confused at first for a few weeks, but once you fill her in it'll wear off fast. Oh, and one more thing. Her face may never be the same again without cosmetic surgery. Such a shame, too. She was awfully pretty. " And he storms away fast, loading me with all this information all at once. I sigh, take a seat beside her in a small chair, and drift off to sleep. I really hope she's okay.
