Chapter Fifteen
Autumn's POV
I watch as the prince named Oliver leaves my hospial..hostipal....hosiple? Yea hosiple room...and I sigh, taking in the information he filled me in on. According to both him and my doctor, I have severe amnesia and head trauma, and I also have a discoloration in my lips-making them look nearly white for a sum of months because of lack of blood flow to them. Fortunately , the doctor says, they managed to save the rest of my face from any dis-formation other than a huge scar on my forehead that indicates where they sewed a huge gash up. Oliver explained to me our starting relationship and how he cares for me, about how I'm a princess and my basic backstory, and about our orangutan marriage. Orangutan? Oh well. I lay in the hosiple bed and wait for a nurse to come back and give me pain meds for my head. I grab the yogurt on my side table that my nurse left me and lazily scoop it into my mouth. It slowly slides down my throat and an I mentally sigh at the cool, thick substance against my sore throat. Mmm. I sigh in agony as my head throbs and the pain worsens, the numbing medicine fading away. I hit the button by the bed that calls for assistance and a nurse comes shortly after. "Hi, are you feeling okay? Need something like some medication or lunch?" She politely offers and flips her brunette hair onto her back, smiling.
"Yes, please. I need numbing meds or pain reducers. The numbing medication from my surgery seems to be wearing off and my head is killing me." I tell her in return. She looks at my information clipboard and reviews my daily needs and schedule. Then the turns her attention back to me and slightly frowns.
"I'm sorry, princess Autumn, but it says here that when your numbing medication wears off, to have the doctor check your status and test a couple things." She sets a glass of water on my side table, smiles a goodbye, and leaves the room before I can comment. I sigh in pain and rest my arm above my head.
An hour later a tall man with black, slicked back hair and a doctors coat walks in carrying a tray of tools. Is he going to use those tools on me? I think I see something that could be described as an eyeball scooper. I shudder as he approaches. He smiles and introduces himself, "Hello ms. Autumn. My name is Dr. Mores. I'm going to check how your eyes respond to a variety of different tests, make sure your reflexes and reactions are healthy. You took a quite heavy blow to the upper facial and head region." And as he says that, he picks up a surgical steel rod and holds poke each eye with it. Neither blink or react in any way. It doesn't even hurt. "Oh boy. This is no good...princess, I think you're going to be blind soon. I'm so sorry." He shakes his head, gives me a sedative pain medication, and walks out of the room. I'm going to be...blind? I pass out before I can think another thought.
