The Wedding
I woke up, my head pounding from the night before, not recognizing where I was or what day it was...
Until I saw my dress.
It was a gorgeous white dress that hugged my thighs, and the train on this thing was impressive! My third cousin was so shook she thought she would have to marry Eugene again!
Anyway, it was an enjoyable time for the bridesmaids who got to dress me up like I was a Barbie doll getting ready to have all the makeup stamped on her face. It was basically what was happening.
My cousin, Anna, did my hair into this adorable braid while her sister did my makeup. Their cousin was getting my dress ready for liftoff with my cousin Helga. Helga was Russian and had a thick accent. She was going to help out with the corset part of the dress. I was ready for it.
Anyway, we slipped the dress on, and here came the tightening part.
Suck in the gut, grab a chair, there is her boot, and squeeze!
It hurt to breathe, but I looked stunning. It made my curves more apparent, and I looked really hot. Like, no joke, I would marry myself in this dress.
The four-inch heels didn't help anyone, and I was so ready to swap to flats after the ceremony. I could not dance in these even if I tried.
Anyway, all of my female family members and a few of Caitlyns were fawning over my dress and how I looked in it. I couldn't think of a better group of people to spend my day with. Other than with Caitlyn herself, but our parents believe in that whole thing that is looking at each other before is terrible luck.
I couldn't care less. I want to marry her as fast as possible.
I wouldn't know until later, but their little get together was pretty cool too.
Caitlyn and Royce were in a room together, Carellios, in his own place by request. Anyway, they had my male family and their male family members as they were fawned over in their own way.
Royce was wearing a green suit. One his family has been recreating over the years. Caitlyn was wearing her mother's dress. And I didn't know at the time, but God did she look good.
The boys were trying to braid her hair and had to fetch Anna to get it to look like an actual braid. They didn't grow up with sisters, and Royce never learned because I never needed him to braid my hair. I had Caitlyn to help with that. I would have to thank her for a whole lot of things now that I am thinking about it.
The boys were also making sure they looked mildly decent before bringing them to the alter to get ready. Royce was going to be closest to the exit, Caitlyn, the closest to the mural. It was going to be perfect, but all of our stomachs were in knots.
It is now only a few minutes before the ceremony starts. We were getting ready to line up. Girls were grabbing a bachelor and hurrying into line. Little Persephone and Little Anubis getting the rings and her basket full of petals.
Me and Carellios, arm in arm, tears were threatening to fall. We were so prepared for this, yet not ready at the same time. And on top of that, Carellios was going through the phase of thinking this isn't the one. He only met a few weeks ago, but deep down, he knew he loved him to death.
It was a very quick thing, getting through the pairs that is. It was only a few moments before our music came on. And I took a deep breath, or as deep as I could with this stupid corset on. Then, we walked.
As soon as those doors were opened, I saw her. She looked like a goddess who has blessed us with her presence.
Royce looked like the prince he was for once. He made sure that he looked suitable for Carellios, who also looked stunning.
I felt as if we were all going to be going through great things for once in our lives. But I may be wrong. Things don't always go as great as we may think they will. Especially when you run a kingdom.
Our siblings sat in the front row, our parents beside them. My family, along with Carellios's on one side, Royce and Caitlyn's on the other. It was everything I could hope and wish for. Maybe even more.
I wouldn't have thought this would happen in a million years. My family is allowing me to marry her. She isn't a royal, or a he, but they still allowed it.
And now I will rule with Royce by my side. We will create a kingdom where no one must worry about who they want to marry, and will marry whom they choose.
I will lay a pathway for those like us. For those who don't exactly fit in anymore. Like Wiltiabry but kind. Even if someone were to kill me tomorrow, we are making history with our vows to each other, and no one will forget our ceremony for years to come.
We made it to the alter, I dry my face of the tears that fell, and she smiles so hard it probably hurt. Royce and Carellios following in suit.
The priest did his thing and married us. Our vows were heart wrenching and kind.
"Daphne, would you say your vows?"
"Of course. Caitlyn. The day I met you was the day I was born. You were already a year old, and I have not a clue how I felt. But, the first thing I can remember is you helping me after a nightmare - my heartfelt at ease in your arms and your arms only. If I were to describe anything without you, I would say nothing. For that is all I can think about when my mind isn't preoccupied with your eyes. I am vowing to you my loyalty and my love until our last breath, for I can not live without you. And if you die before me, you'll see me pretty soon. My loyalty is forever, my love until I die. We will last for eternity. Even after we learn to fly."
"Now, Caitlyn?"
"Mine will never live up to that, but here I go. To you, my love. I wrote these as soon as you fled the kingdom, for I knew you would realize. And if I do not read these out, my eyes can water the garden during the coming spring. I told you that you could marry before the wedding, hoping you would pick me, and since I am reading this to you, I guess that thought was set free. I am vowing to you my hope and my life because, without you, I have neither. My hope I vow to you to keep you alive in those trying years and the wars we will have to endure. I vow my life so that you may live on, even if you never see me again. And that is my vow to you."
"That was a tear-jerker! Royce, your turn!"
"Alright. Carellios. You were the one person who actually caught my interest. The one who made me do things I have never done before. I floofed my hair for you, and that is a new thing for me. And I hope I continue to floof my hair at the thought of you. I vow to you my every breath to make sure that you never run out. I vow to give my life for yours if the time comes down to it. I vow to make sure you outlive me. Even if it is only a few moments, it may be selfish of me, but I don't want to live without you. You freed me from a life I didn't want to live. And I thank you for that."
"Cute! Carellios?"
"You guys did something so nice! Mine fails to meet their expectations! How dare you write better! Anyway, Royce. I may not be a prince or a very rich person, but you chose me. Out of everyone that you met in the six months you were out, you chose me. And I understand that you don't want to marry Daph, but how do you turn down a prince? I don't know, but I don't care either! I have you. And you have me, which is why I vow to you me, in all of my entirety. I vow to you myself because you searched for so long and chose me. And that makes me feel so special and wanted. I vow to you my cooking because heaven knows I am not letting you cook. And I vow to you my heart - the only thing I really need to survive. A person without a brain can live, you don't need both kidneys, and a liver can grow back. But if you don't have a heart, you will die. That is my vows to you."
And then we finished the ceremony, had a drunk fest at the bar down the street. It was real fun, I guess. I just wanted to nap. My feet hurt, and I had a headache, and I felt absolutely miserable. Thank god I was able to leave before everyone else stopped partying.
We got back to the castle and fell asleep. Literally had no energy to do anything else. I straight up passed out at around two in the morning. And people were still going at it at the bar! How do people function at that time?!
And that concluded our wedding day. A day that was filled with celebration and history in the making. I fell asleep next to the one I loved for once. Not Royce, or a toddler. Caitlyn. The one person I fell for, and the one, single person I chose for me.
