"Well coconut milk, we're lost!" Branch exclaimed, standing up.

"It's not so bad! Home shouldn't be too far from here, right? And we'll get to take in the pretty butterflies and flowers while we walk!" Poppy tried to cheer up the mood.

"Okay first off, there are rarely any flowers or butterflies around. Second, home is very far away. We're small people, with a huge village! So of course it's gonna take long!" Branch exclaimed, whining a bit.

Poppy giggled and skipped in front of him and squished his cheeks.

"You wittle babyyyy!"

"H-Hey!" Branch immediately moved her hands, crossing his arms. "Don't ever do that again."

Poppy shrugged. "Anyway, we should probablyyy start walking before the bergens find us."

Branch huffed and kept a firm grip on his backpack. "Fine, but you better not waste any time. We need to get back as quick as we can." He started walking, Poppy following after him.

"La la la la la la, sing a happy songgg!"

Branch groaned quietly, covering his ears.

"Poppy please!" He finally exclaimed.

"Whaaattt? I'm just singinggg!" She whined.

"Yeah you've been singing, for one hour!"

"Hmph." She pouted, crossing her arms, which he secretly thought was adorable.

•°•°• 30 minutes later •°•°•

"Hey Branch?"

"What?"

"I'm hungry."

Branch thought. He was pretty hungry himself.

"Alright, let's go find some food, it shouldn't be far."

Poppy smiled and skipped ahead of him.

"Hey, wait!" Branch quickly followed after her.

"Come on Branch I'm hungryyy don't be a slow po-" Poppy yelped when she fell backwards into tall grasses.

"Poppy!" He exclaimed and quickly ran into the tall grasses, noticing bushes with berries on them.

"Branch you gotta try these!" The Princess said, eating one herself, a handful in her hand.

Branch facepalmed himself.

"Don't do that!" He walked towards her and to where the bush was.

"Sorry, I trippeddd." She said eating another.

He sighed and grabbed some of the berries and stuffed them into his bag.

"You're not eating?"

"I am, just saving some for later if we get hungry."

"Oh, okay."

The two had a small snack before once again, starting on the trail to back home.

"Urgh, It's too quiet."

"Well great, I like the silence." The gray troll replied, focusing on everything in front of him while walking.

Poppy blinked and thought for a second.

"Bleh."

Branch continued walking.

"Blah."

"Mew"

"Nyeh."

"Choo choo."

"Bah bah."

"Neighhh."

"Goo goo gaa gaa."

"Cockadoodle doooo!"

"Chirp chirp!"

"Tweet tweet!"

Branch started to lose it, again.

"Stooooooop!" He exclaimed loudly.

Poppy stopped, but not before saying "Poo?"

"For the love of coconuts!" He continued walking.

Poppy snickered, following him.

"What's funny?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Why do you always say coconut?" She tilted her head.

"Because, I just do. I love coconuts." He kept walking.

"Is that so?" She went to his side and walked as the same pace as him.

"Sure is." He didn't look at her, as much as he actually wanted to look at her adorable and beautiful face.

"Branch?"

"What?"

"Why are you... nevermind." She quickly went quiet and continued walking.

Branch grew a bit concerned for a second but decided to ignore it.

Poppy yawned and rubbed her eyes.

"Branch aren't you tired..? I am.."

Branch finally stopped and turned to look at the Princess, who looked like she was gonna pass out.

"Okay, we can stop here for the night."

Poppy just collasped onto the ground, sleepily.

Branch couldn't help but smile, just a bit.

Is she really that tired?

Branch found large leaves for both of them, and carefully laid one on top of Poppy, picking her up gently and laying her under a nearby tree.

Branch searched through his bag and found out that he only had one sleeping bag, which was for himself.

He looked at it then Poppy, then back at it again.

Branch sighed quietly and opened up the sleeping bag and put it next to Poppy, carefully picking her up again and laying her on top of it gently.

Branch layed down next to her, but not too close, and faced the other way.

He slowly closed his eyes.

"Branch..?" Poppy croaked out sleepily.

He opened his eyes back up.

"Yes?"

"I can't sleep.."

He sat up and turned to look at her, her expression full of worry, sleepiness, and sadness.

"Well why not?"

"I'm worried.."

"About what?"

"About.. my people.. my dad.. my friends.. what if the bergens find them.."

"Poppy, they won't.. they're all hidden in my bunker, I made sure of that.."

"I.. guess.. I hope they're not too worried about me.."

"Of course they are, you're the Princess for crying out loud."

Poppy sighed and played with her fingers.

Branch sighed as well.

"Look.. try going back to sleep, okay..? I don't want you tired when we get ready to walk again tomorrow.."

Poppy slowly looked back up at him, slowly opening her arms.

Branch sighed once more.

"Poppy-"

"Please..?" She said in a soft and quiet voice.

Branch gave in and slowly scooted towards her.

She didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around him tightly, resting her head on his shoulder.

Branch immediately felt... safe.

He felt comfortable.

He felt warmth.

He felt... safe.

Taking in the warm feeling, he slowly and gently wrapped his arms around her, not really realizing he was doing so.

Poppy smiled as she felt his arms wrap around her, slowly beginning to fall back into a doze.

Branch began to fall off in a doze as well, slowly closing his eyes.

Soon both of them fell into the warmest snooze they ever had.

And will probably have again.
