💝Chapter 1💝

20 years later...

"Anddd they both lived happily, ever.."

"After!!" All the troll children giggled.

"Right!" Princess Poppy smiled at all of them and closed the book.

"Princess Poppy? Will you have a Prince and get married and have a happily ever after?" One troll named Amelia asked her, tilting her head.

"I hope someday." She said dreamily, taking a picture of a purple troll with turquoise hair from her hair, and sighed.

The name of the troll on the picture was Sir Creek, and he was a Knight. She had a crush on him for a while. They have been friends for a while as well.

The troll children grew curious of why she sighed so dreamily, some peeking to see what she was holding, then giggling quietly.

Noticing this, Poppy blushed and quickly put the picture away back into her hair.

"Uhm.." She forced out a cough and fixed herself up. "A-Alright, It's time for everyone to go home now."

The troll children all went "Awww" as they retreated from where they sat and left the pod of Poppy's, some chasing each other.

Poppy had sighed, exiting her pod as well and looked around and smiled.

She loved seeing her kingdom so happy, despite all the incidents that occurred with the "bergens".

She noticed her friends from afar and skipped over to them.

"Hey guys!" She greeted while smiling widely.

"Hello Princess Poppy!" They all joked and bowed.

Poppy giggled. "Guyysssss."

Then, Creek came in with a warm smile.

"Princess." He bowed and took her hand and kissed it lightly.

She blushed and giggled.

What're you doing to me Creek..

Her friends snickered in the back, seeing the two.

Poppy blushed more, then looked in the woods and noticed a troll.

"Hey guys, I'll be back okay?" She skipped over to the woods.

"Ohhhkayyy." DJ tilted her head a bit.

"Wonder where she's headed." Guy Diamond said.

"Probably off to talk to him again." Cooper said.

"Excuse me, him?" Creek said with attitude.

"Whattt? You know who I'm talking abouttt." Cooper looked at him.

She skipped over to a grey troll who seemed to be picking up sticks.

"Hi Branch!" She waved and smiled.

Branch stayed away from all society because he despised it, and he never talked to anyone, well, except Poppy, but their conversations were usually short.

She would always try and talk to him because he seemed pretty lonely. She really did care for him, and surprisingly didn't mind if he didn't care.

"Poppy." Was all he responded with, not taking one glance at her and continuing to pick up sticks.

She tilted her head a bit.

"Y'know, why do you always pick up sticks?" She asked, trying to start a conversation.

"When the bergens finally take all of our power, I'll have the materials needed for survival." He still doesn't look at her and continues picking up sticks.

"Oh come on Branch it's been twenty years, they must've gave up by now!"

"Maybe, but you never know, they could step their game back up. And you all aren't helping with that by singing and throwing your silly parties." Branch grunted and stood up and finally looked at her.

"Bu-"

"Nope, that's the end of it." He fidgeted his sticks in his arms.

Poppy huffed and stuck her tongue out. "You grump." Then she gave him a tight hug.

Branch sighed, ignoring the burning heat uprising in his cheeks.

"You know you should get out more.. introduce yourself to some trolls, it wouldn't hurt.." She mumbled, still clinging onto him, her cheek pressed against his, making the grey troll heat up more.

"No. I despise society. I refuse to present myself to anyone." Branch replied, not hugging her back, but not pushing her away either.

"Please..? For me..?" She whispered, almost inaudibly, squeezing him tighter.

Branch sighed, a lump forming in his throat and feeling butterflies in his stomach.

"Poppy.."

Before he could say anything else, Poppy heard a voice calling her.

"O-Oh, I think that's my dad.."

Branch didn't say anything but just looked away a bit, Poppy noticing him.

"But.. I'll see you soon, okay..?" She gently took her hand underneath his chin and carefully turned him to look at her, giving him her warmest smile.

Branch stared into her eyes for a second, then quickly moved away from her touch, as much as he liked it.

"Y-Yeah, whatever.." He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

Poppy sighed quietly. "Bye Branch.." She turned her back to him and walked out of the woods.

Branch looked up and watched her leave, sighing quietly himself.

Why does she care so much..? Nobody else does, so why does she..?

"Ugh, we tried so many times and we're still powerless! This is useless! We're all nothing! I'm sorry dad, I failed you.." King Gristle, who was once Prince Gristle, but has been passed onto to the new king since his father passed away, flopped onto his chair.

"King Gristle?" He heard a low feminine voice say to him.

"What? I'm not in the mood." He grunted.

"I believe I can help." The feminine voice drew closer revealing a dark purple bergen who seemed to have clothing as a chef would. Ironically, her name was chef.

"How? We tried so many ways! There's no point anymore! We're just gonna stay powerless and depressed!"

"Your majesty, give me a chance to prove that I can fix this, once and for all. I promise I will not let you down."

Gristle glanced at the bergen, who had a smirk on her face. Nevertheless, he gave in.

"Fine. I'll give you ONE chance! But if you ruin it, you shall suffer the consequences!" He pointed sharply at her.

"You have my word your majesty, I shall not ruin this for you." Chef bowed to him and made her way out the castle.

Once she got out she grinned to herself.

"When I finally bring power to Bergen town, I'll become Queen, and everyone will bow down to me!" She cackled evilly.

"Hey dad." Poppy smiled and skipped to her father.

Peppy noticed her and smiled.

"There's my Princess." He smiled and hugged her.

Poppy giggled and hugged him back.

She pulled away gently.

"So did you need something?"

"I just wanted to check and see how my little girl was doing," he chuckled, "your friends are looking for you, by the way."

"I know, I told them I'd be back." She smiled.

Peppy smiled back.

"Hey um, dad?"

"Yes?"

"Do you.. do you think the bergens are still trying to find a way retrieve us and our power, even if it's been twenty years?"

"I wouldn't worry about it baby," he put a hand on her shoulder, "It'll put bad thoughts in your head.."

"Are you sure..?"

He smiled and nodded.

Poppy sighed, then smiled back a bit.

"Yeah, I.. I guess you're-"

THUMP

°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°

Chef moved things out of her way until she could finally see troll village.

She smirked and chuckled to herself.

"There it is."

°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°

"W-What was that..?"

The thumps grew louder and closer, drawing everyone's attention and forcing them to be silent.

The thumps finally stopped, and out appeared a huge bergen, standing over top the small creatures.

"Gotcha." Chef said with an evil smirk.

Poppy's eyes widen in fear.

"I.. I.. wait.."

Chef ignored her words and drew closer to the trolls.

"Everyone RUN!!" Poppy yelled at the top of her lungs.

Everyone obliged and scrambled places to hide, screaming in fear.

"Hurry hurry!" Poppy gathered trolls and helped them to hide and camouflage.

Chef tried grabbing some but she missed and failed, trolls successively escaping her grasp.

Her eyes shot to Poppy, whose back was turned to her.

Creek saw her stretching her hand to where they were, and didn't even bother to warn or try and save Poppy.

He just ran for his life.

Poppy turned around only to find herself being grasped by a giant hand.

"Hm, Princess Poppy. The happiest troll of all. Let's see what you have in store shall we?"

"N-No! Let me go!" She squirmed and tried getting out her grasp.

Peppy looked around frantically.

"Poppy?? Poppy!" He turned only to find her being taken away by Chef.

He could hear her faint cries for help.

"NO! M-My baby girl!" Peppy broke down on his knees.

Poppy's friends watched in fear as she was being taken away.

"P-Poppy no!" Guy stretched his arm out.

"What do we do! That bergen took her away!" Biggie panicked and held his pet, Mr. Dinkles, to his chest.

"We have to run and find somewhere else to live!" Creek said.

"Are you crazy?! We can't leave Poppy behind! We have to save her!" DJ yelled.

"She was taken, by a bergen! None of us would be able to stand up to a bergen!" Creek yelled back.

"B-But-"

"Creek is right." Peppy came in.

"What?!"

"I don't want anyone else getting themselves in danger. We must find sanctuary."

"But.. Poppy is your daughter.."

Peppy sighed.

"I know, and I love her more than anything.. we will figure out something.. but right now, we need to move."

Peppy got up from his knees.

"Is everyone here before we go?"

Everyone nodded and made sure they were all there and safe.

"Alright good, let's-"

"Wait a minute!"

Peppy looked at Suki in surprise and confusion.

"There's one more troll left! Follow me!" She ran foward.

Peppy, Poppy's friends, and all the trolls of Troll Village followed her.

Branch sighed to himself as he sat at a desk in his bunker with a lamp on.

He kept thinking about earlier today with Poppy. Why did she care so much? Why did she?

His thoughts were interrupted when an eruption of knocks flooded on the opening of his bunker.

The grey troll groaned to himself and got up and railed himself up to the door and opened it.

"What do you- what the.."

"Branch! It's urgent!" DJ cried.

"What do you all want? Why are you at my bunker?" He grunted and climbed out.

"A bergen came!"

"That's not my fault-"

"And it took Poppy!"

Branch froze. He felt like the entire world just stopped moving. He felt his heart drop down to his stomach. He felt himself go.. weak..

"I... what...?"
