Chapter 1

"Princess, which do you prefer? " The maid questioned a fright in her voice, afraid of what will greet her this morning like all the other mornings she once again prepared herself to be thrown out again.

The princess didn't give her glance, standing from her slumber, a loud yawn coming from her lips like a bear from a long wake of winter. Her hair framing her face a massive bed head, yet it displays how awful she slept.

"Princess...?" The low whisper of the maid met her ear.

"Why are you still here?" She said in a mumble, not sure if she should be angry or annoyed, but both seem to win.

"Get out" her words, a low growl of her annoyance, brushing her hair from her face in frustration.

"Bu-but princess," the scared maid plead with her hands clasped in front of her face but cowardly keeping her eyes to the floor.

"Get out" is a warning to not push her any further. A sudden fear crawled along the maid's skin. Fearing the worst she stumbled to escape only to fall through the door hurting her foot and buttocks. The princess toss the dresses to the floor as she stood her glare directed to the maid.  Pure horror came over the maid forgetting her pain, she quickly shut the door not wanting the lion to roar again.

Princess Aurelia breathed through her nose her frustration permanent in her being. Each morning was the same, no matter her words they still came disturbing her peace, invading her space.

"Heavens, it's been 14 years when will they listen" grumbling angrily strolling to the open door of the bath, a golden crystal blue walls looking tainted. The thought of being held hostage settled in her stomach.

She tied her wavy messy bed hair in a loose bun keeping it away from her face. Her face, disgust to even look at she couldn't find why she hated looking at her oval heart-shaped face with her bright blue iris an added treasure.

She rolls her eyes not giving a second look at her image already seeing the dark circles forming from the lack of sleep. She untied the strings of her robe the fabric falling freely to the ground.

She sat in the warm water her mind drifting to a time when she was once free to do what she, please. Her father was a mad man to the thought of her ever going out the castle walls, her mother didn't speak afterall she became mute.

She only left the bath as soon as the water became cold, a habit she was used as second nature to calm her.

Her room door opened once again as soon as she exit the bath "what now" she breathed out all her energy to scream at the person became a wasted effort.

Exhaustion

"Princess your father brings word for your attendance, the ceremony beings soon in the royal halls," the royal guard said in one breath, it only brings more attention to how scared the maids were and how tired her father was of her.

"For the last time tell my dearest father I'm not attending this wasted effort of a ceremony," she said without batting an eye, he still stood there no words just with a bow following the instructions of the king, the princess should be here at any cost.

"Have you gone deaf or are you perhaps seeking a peek?" her voice was none of the jokings but one of serious. She looked directly at him as she undid her towel.

The slam of the door came quickly before the towel could touch the floor.

She got dressed in a light blue flora dress with an open back to complement her fair skin. Matching with short sliver heels her hair wavy flowing down her back.

She huffs, exiting her room the loud cheers of the townspeople a clear sign the ceremony was beginning, not caring for the ceremony she walk along the corridor with her favorite book in her hand.

The ceremony happens every 20 years reaching the young adult peak of all royal life. Gifting a guide a fairy to be by your side until not needed anymore, but for Princess Aurelia being alone was a sense of peace for her.

After all, she was always alone, not blaming anyone but herself.

It was like a thought place in her mind that she'll forever be alone but that wasn't all she never felt any beat in her chest.

It bother her once, after all, she wouldn't get any answer from her parents, only that she was born different she was special.

It came as a joke, nothing was special about her.

She walked to the far wing of the palace, where no one dared to venture. Her secret hiding place was a bookshelf that hid a secret study behind its walls. Aurelia found it on a day when she didn't want to be bothered by her royal duties, she was escaping.

Ever since then she comes here on a daily escaping everyone even herself if she could.

"Where is the princess?" Shouted a guard passing the bookshelf as they went by.

She knew they saw her heading his path, her father was a pest for sending guards within the shadows to watch her.

"Aurelia please not today" she heard her father never once would he come to her but today she was surprised to hear him so close, yet she didn't move from her position.

'A man of grace coming here must be an important matter at hand' she mocked to herself.

She thought, if she had a heart she would feel bad for herself but she didn't. Simply she didn't care for her own feelings or anyone.

"Your majesty, don't worry yourself" a cheery voice sounded filled with respect "my lord will find her", he sounded so sure of himself it almost cause the princess to lift the corner of her lips.

Yet she didn't. She went back to reading not daring to move. It happens like this all the time when something gets her interest it quickly became a distant memory.

"Lord Oberon, I truly apologize on my daughter's behalf," the king said sincerest dripping from each word.

"My lord will find her," the fool said again

Who is this lord? it was quite annoying.

Footsteps were heard departing from the area but Princess Aurelia was unbothered at this, no one has ever found her so she wasn't affected by his words.

Strangely enough, she felt a presence within the same room as her, goosebumps were evident feeling the searching eyes intensely looking through her soul.

She became angry who wouldn't, she glanced at the figure rolling her eyes at the person in her space, standing in the shadows with only the hypnotizing green eyes, holding her attention yet she tried to look uninterested but it was hard not to.

"And who might you be," she said annoyed after a whole minute of silence.

He didn't breathe a word getting comfortable as he sat in the far corner of the room. If it was possible she was even more annoyed, uninterested with her book she find herself exiting the secret room.

Footstep fell silently following her's, an indication without her turning around to know it was the suspicious person. Maids pass by bowing gracefully but love stroke at the mysterious person.

Why did that make her even more annoyed?

She walked passing her room going straight to her father's office, she push the door open without knocking.

"My beautiful daughter what an honor to have you visit your old man," he said blissfully putting aside his paperwork, his advisor bowing gracefully at the princess.

"Cut the crap father who is this," she said boredly pointing behind her at the figure.

The king blinked between the two then his face broke out in a bright smile.

"Lord Oberon, thank you for finding the princess"

"Hello," she said feeling completely ignored.

"Princess Aurelia he is Lord Oberon the king of fey right-hand man, it was announced at the ceremony you fail to attend," the king said all the while keeping his smile pasted on his lips.

"A fey? Why would I be gifted a fey guide what happen to the fairy guide?" she questioned not once looking behind her but feeling the strong presence.

"Princess it's all for a very specific reason, now if you'll excuse me, Lord Oberon" turning back to his duties he busies himself.

Frustrated at her father's words leaving her with even more questions, turning around Stomping, only to fall directly into the body of a creature.

He held her arm firmly prevented her from falling even more.

Her breath hitched at her throat meeting those same sharp green eyes but in a different light, his eyes shone brighter than emeralds. His dark locks fall gracefully over his eyes a stream of his hair running past his shoulder, his long eyelashes perfectly laying against his cheek each time he blinks but what more was a symbol a tattoo if even in the middle of his forehead.

Like a flame curving in the middle, simple yet meaningful. He looked rouged with leatherlike materials forming his outfit.

The feeling she felt instantly went away taking her arm from his grasp, stepping out of the view of his searching eyes, pushing past him.

She felt confused sturk by a beautiful man was one thing but a fey who is the right hand of the king marks as suspicious.

Her only motive is to get away from all this.

She hurried to get to her room hearing the slight tapping of heel following closely behind she could only huff out her annoyance.

"Hey stop following me, what are you a stalker or something" she stops sharp on her heel pouring her frustration in each word. A 6' ft fey man following her seems like a father following his child.

She saw his ears move, its tip sharp the only thing inhuman to her eyes.

"Are you my tail? if even your my guide I didn't state that I wanted any, are you even listening to me" she shrieks out his expressionless face throwing her off only drives her to anger.

With one last cry of frustration, she turns on her heels. She didn't even know what she was doing arguing with the most powerful creature in this land.

But he didn't seem to care.

She stomps away hearing his steps matching hers.

Her anger would forever be permanent.
