Deceit Isn't Simple... ~ Chapter 7
~Virgil PoV~
I stared at Logan and Patton, "What do you mean Deceit took Roman?" I asked, confused. Of all the sides I never expected Roman to be captured by anyone...
Patton gulped, "S-So we were going to surprise you because it's been about a two since you first appeared in a Sander Sides. B-But then Deceit showed up and knocked out Roman and took him... he told us to get you, b-because..." Patton broke down sobbing, not finishing what he was saying. Logan awkwardly pat his back and gave him a hug. Patton turned and sobbed into Logan's chest, which made the intellectual side blush.
Logan looked back at me, "He said you two have unfinished business. And that you apparently know where to meet him?" Logan said though it sounded more like a question. I gasped quietly. Of course I knew where. It was where Deceit and I came from.
The Darkness in Thomas' mind.
I looked at Logan since Patton was still faced away from me. "Stay here, I know where to go," I said, running to my room. I groaned in frustration as I realized I had given Nix most of my gear, and I only had my katana. I made a mental note to stop by the dream world before going to The Darkness.
I took my katana with me as I ran out of the house, I lifted off in the air and caught the fastest current to the dream world.
I got there in a matter of minutes, swooping through the gate. I landed and ran inside the little shack, where Nix was making tea. She jumped as I burst in and glared at me. Without asking her I took my bow an' arrow and dagger. "Emergency, side captured, got to go, I'll give this back later, bye!" I yelled over my shoulder as I ran back out.
I lifted off and flew somewhere I never thought I would have to again. I wish I could go as slow as I could, but the adrenalin rush in me wouldn't let up, only making me go faster to the horrid nightmares.
Soon the mid-day sky started to be splotched with murky black darkness until the whole sky was just tar. I flew around carefully, it was silent.
"Ah, Anxiety, so sad you couldn't make it," a voice said, a voice that sent chills down my spine, a voice I had hoped to never hear again, a voice that did nothing but lie. I turned around slowly, eyes narrowing. I'll give him this, Deceit has changed, his looks anyway. For instance, he didn't have that creepy half snake-face when I was still here.
I landed slowly and cautiously. "Deceit, let's skip the chit-chat, where's Roman?" I snarled. Deceit tsked and walked towards me, I watched him circle around me as if I was his prey. If only he knew I had quit being his prey years ago.
"He's dead," Deceit said, watching for any reaction. I calmed myself, remembering that he was unable to speak the truth. I rolled my eyes.
"Just give him to me and I'll be on my merry way. No harm to anyone," I shrugged. Deceit scrunched up his nose, he beckoned for someone. My stomach sank, I already know who it was. The big D in the room, Depression.
Depression walked up to me briskly. "What makes you think he wants to be back with you? Do you honestly think he the prince could get captured by us? Oh please, your friends are just sick and tired of you! That's why they sent you here," Depression said, patting my shoulder as if we were good old friends. I shrugged off his hand aggressively. He sighed, "If you need proof..." he trailed off. Suddenly smog swirled around us. At first, I thought Depression was attacking me, so I pulled out my dagger. But I realized the smog was just forming a clearing. I looked around confused.
A little five-year-old Logan was sitting under a willow tree reading a book, a five-year-old Patton was sitting next to him. I looked over to the middle, where Thomas, Roman, and I were, all five-years-old. Roman and I were arguing.
I looked back at Depression and raised an eyebrow, this was one of my memories, but why was it so important to Depression?
Suddenly Roman and my arguing got louder. Thomas was crying, but neither one of us noticed. I saw Patton run over to us and pull us apart.
"Guys! You're making Thomas sad! Give each other a hug!" Patton said. Mini-me growled and crossed my arms.
"Ew! No way!" I said nose scrunched up in disgust. Thomas cried harder, suddenly the memory stopped. Depression moved closer to me.
"All you do is bring pain to the others," he whispered in my ear. I gulped and shook my head.
"That doesn't mean I'm leaving Roman here with you," I said, taking a shaky breath. I remembered the rest of the memory suddenly.
I felt guilty for making Thomas cry so I begrudgingly gave Roman an apology hug, soon everyone joined in, even Logan. Then we all laughed and talked for a bit.
I could feel Depression wilt away, he growled. "You're much stronger than when you were here last..." he grumbled. I grinned triumphantly, then I went back to serious.
"Now tell me where Roman is," I growled, taking out my dagger and advancing on Deceit and Depression.
"A-Anxiety?" I heard a voice behind me, it sounded so weak and frail. I turned around, seeing Roman, but he looked weak and pale. I quickly walked over to him, he could barely stand and collapsed onto me, passing out. I caught him and glared at Deceit and Depression.
"What did you do to him?" I hissed. Depression smirked.
"Well, he wouldn't shut up, so we drained his energy," Depression said, a sly smile on his face. I growled and picked Roman up bridal style.
"I'm leaving, but if you hurt or take anyone else, I will not hesitate to come back and finish off what I should have a long time ago," I growled, starting to fly away. Before I could fully leave I heard Depressions voice yell.
"It's practically possible to get rid of us!"
I didn't reply and flew back home, a very light and vulnerable Roman in my arms.
