*Shadow's POV *
"You're friends with Prince Maurice, Faker?" I raised a brow, now fully listening to the conversation. 

"Well... Yeah." He responded clearly he was hiding something.

"You know how he looks like?

"How did you meet him?"

The others started asking questions and Faker clearly felt uncomfortable about it making me more suspicious he was hiding something. He answered their questions, short and trying to change the subject.

"It's getting late. I should get going." He finally stood up looking nervous. "I am actually thinking about leaving tomorrow since there's a lot of things Maurice needs to do."

"I need to finish some projects so I think we reached a stopping point for today. Thanks all of you for coming." The fox said as we all started to stand up. The rest of the group left but Rouge was saying goodbye so I stayed until she walked out as well then we stood outside the door. 

"He was hiding something, wasn't he?" Rouge looked at me and I nodded.

"Whats wrong with you? Why would you say that? I can't risk it!" My ear twitched as we heard Faker fight with the fox.

"I'm sorry! I panicked too!" The fox groaned.

Rouge and I knew we had to stick around and try to figure out what was going on so we got closer to a windows where we could see and hear.

"Buddy... I can't let anyone know about this. It's too big of a risk." Faker rubbed his face in frustration.

"Sonic! It's been years! You trust them with your life! Why don't you trust them with this?" They started to raise their voice and Faker was getting visibly angrier. Something new to his always cheerful personality. 

"What about Shadow?! He'll use this to get rid of me! What if they accidentally said it and someone heard them?! I. Can't. Tell them!" He snapped and the fox froze, Faker was giving us his back but something scared the fox other than Fakers shouting because he looked like he was about to run.

"C-calm down..." His arms were extended with caution. "We don't need him right now." He said trying to calm down Faker as he held his head in pain and fell to his knees.

"I need to keep it a secret, Tails. It's to protect them." He said then decided to just lay on the floor with his arms extended to the sides and his eyes closed.

"Fine. But you know you can't keep it a secret forever. You should trust them." His friend agreed and sat beside him.

I looked at Rouge and she looked at me. "What is he hiding from us? Why does he say you'll use it to get rid of him?"

As much as I hated that Hedgehog, I never had the intentions to actually kill him but he had a different idea about it. If he died my life would become more complicated, job would be harder without him as much as I didn't want to admit it, I knew it was true.

"Maybe its time you try to become his friend, Hun. Try and find out what's going on."

"I'm not doing that, Bat." I still hated him, couldn't stand being near him without punching him.

"Come on. How else will we find out?"

"Give me 3 days to work on it. I am changing it to a different material since it keeps breaking." The fox said.

"Alright. I'll wait until then." The Hedgehog stood up and started walking to the door. "I'll see you tomorrow." I immediately chaos controlled us away before Faker could see us.

Maybe I did need to listen to Rouge.

*Sonic's POV *
"Shadow?" I tensed up as I opened the door to my house the next morning. I was about to head out but found Shadow waiting, resting against the wall. "What are you doing here?"

"He's here because he lost a bet with me and now has to spend the day with you without trying to kill you." Rouge flew and landed beside him. Shadow looked annoyed.

"You can't possibly think that's going to work."

"If he even raises a finger, I get to post an embarrassing picture of him online." Rouge said and was about to show me the picture when he growled and gave her a death glare.

Ah, blackmail. Yeah, that would work on Shadow.

"Oh. Well." I chuckled nervously. I had plans to help Tails with the mask but I guess I had to cancel that. This felt very uncomfortable. "I mean sure..." I hesitated and they noticed making me slightly tensed up.

"You don't mind, do you Hun? I'm trying to help you and Shadow stop fighting afterall." She said. It felt forced but I couldn't say no.

"No. I don't mind." I smiled at her and opened the door to my house. "Did you want to come in, Shad? I can make breakfast." He rolled his eyes at the nickname but didn't say anything and just walked in.

I guess this could be fun. "Alright then, I'll see you two later." Rouge flew away but not after reminding Shadow about the picture.

I guess this could be fun. I quietly sighed and went to the kitchen. "What did you want to eat? Did you want coffee? Water? A soda?"

"Coffee is fine." He said and sat down in the living room. I noticed he said nothing about the food so I started making pancakes since I was craving it.

Halfway through my cooking I realized something. "You like sweet stuff, right?" I chuckled. "I'm making pancakes."

"That's fine." He said. I could tell he was trying his hardest not to be mean.

Is this my chance to get to know him?

"What about spice?" I asked and he raised a brow when I suddenly realized and laughed softly.

"Not on the pancakes. In general."

"Oh." He shook his head. "Can't stand it." He answered and I was shocked.

"So you have a sweet tooth." I flipped the pancakes and served the coffee in two mugs. "Interesting. Did you want sugar?" He walked to the kitchen and started preparing his own coffee. I was surprised he didn't like it plain black. To my surprise, he poured around 3 to 4 scoops of sugar and added just a splash of creamer. "Didn't take you for a sweet tooth."

"Shut up." He took our cups to the table and sat down.

"Come on Shad~ I am finally getting to know you!" I laughed and took the plates and the syrup to the table. Shadow grabbed the utensils and we sat down to eat.

He hummed and rolled his eyes then proceeded to take a bite. I couldn't tell if he liked the food or not but since he kept eating it, I took it as a win. Once we were done eating, he surprised me again and thanked me.

"I have manners, don't act surprised." Shadow said making me chuckle again.

"Sorry. I'm still just trying to get used to you not trying to kill me."

"Weren't you going somewhere?" He changed the subject and then I remembered.

"Oh! Uh, I'll be right back. I'll just tell Tails I can't go."

"Why?"

"Well..."

"I thought you were working on something for the prince? Isn't that important?" I rubbed the back of my neck not sure how to answer that. "Let's go." He stood up and walked to the door before I could say anything.

What am I going to do?
