Chapter 1: Fuck traditions, I don't need a consort!

"My young prince, Kats- Bakugo, please listen to reason," Yagi Toshinori, the eldest of their tribe- other than Chiyo Shuzenji; the tribal healer said completely exacerbated, "Your twenty-fifth birthday is almost upon us, only a fortnight left before then. We must make preparations for the feast, for your ceremonial garments, send out invitations to our fellow tribes people who reside deeper in the forest- on horse back at this point since it is so close to the date, and don't forget the-"

"FORGET ALL THAT. WHAT ABOUT HIS CONSORT," Hizashi Yamada screamed, "If Bakugo does not choose his mate soon we will be forced by tradition to choose for him, I say we pick Ochako from my village. She's an extremely beautiful, lively girl, very sweet but she is far from a pushover, Bakugo needs a partner who will not bend to him and his abrasive ways so easily. Someone with a fight, a challenge in them."

Shota Aizawa spoke up then in his monotone voice, "We need to stop feeding into Bakugo's obnoxious ways and simply give him someone who will force him to mature. I say we choose Momo Yaoyorozu. She might be soft spoken but no doubt she is brilliant, a strong fighter, and her family is the second richest to Bakugo's. It would be uniting the two riches tribes in all the woodlands, that makes it the smartest decision, hands down."

"My fine men, please calm down," Mitsuki Bakugo, the young prince's mother spoke up, "You all must have forgotten my ungrateful brat of a son prefers men over women, we shouldn't just be looking for a just any consort but a husband. Do you all not remember when we visited the Tropical Tribe in the East? My son was practically drooling over their young prince that had blonde hair with a black lighting strike down the middle. What was his name again?" Mitsuki took a quick pause, "For some reason I cannot recall it's been too long since we've spoken to the Kaminari's, I should send them an invitation to his birthday ceremony." She held a finger up to her chin, debating if inviting the Tropical Tribesmen would mean she would have to invite the Icemen and Desertmen too.

Katsuki Bakugo who had stayed uncharacteristically quiet this whole meeting finally spoke up, his voice soft as though what he was going to say would hurt, "His name was Denki Kaminari, you dumb old hag."

She turned, venom spitting from her words, "Of course you would remember, after all you begged me to stay in the tropics to be with him on your sixteenth birthday. Has your teenage crush still not died out yet? You had to fall in love with a foreigner right? You couldn't fall for one of our elite warriors here in the Woodlands, could you?"

Mitsuki held a hand over her face in despair, "You just had to fall in love with someone outside of our lands. Break the thousand year old tradition of Woodland blooded tribe leaders huh?"

Bakugo grimaced, "Oh fuck off. You have clearly lost your damn mind if you don't remember the heart break I endured. He told me he loved another and that was the last time we spoke. Your old ass probably forgot!"

She snapped back, "Of course I did not forget that, you cried like a fucking baby in your room for a week. And then spent the next week blowing up all our warriors on the training field, making poor Chiyo's life a living hell," Sighing she continued, "But you haven't had romantic interest in anyone since then and you're a fortnight away from being twenty five years old, that makes it almost eight years since you fell for that boy. What am I going to do with you? You make my life a living fucking hell, you damn stubborn brat."

"Fuck traditions, I don't need a consort! I don't need a useless mate! I'm fine running the Woodland tribes on my fucking own."

"Do not start with that crap again! If you do not pick a partner, we will. And don't forget you'll be miserable if we pick them because that person will be your mate for life," With that Mitsuki Bakugo walked out of the conference room, slamming the door behind her.

Katsuki then blew a hole in the conference table using his explosion magic (that he was famous for), "ALL OF YOU CAN FUCK OFF AND DIE. I'm telling you I DON'T NEED A FUCKING PARTNER! So just stop looking for one!" No one but Yagi, the eldest man in the room who was sitting the closest to him saw the gleam in his eyes. It broke the old man's heart to see such a strong willed boy in such internal agony.

Of course the young prince would want a partner, who wouldn't want a mate to share the rest of their life with, their other half to love and to hold. But no matter how hard they pushed him, no one he talked to seemed to spark his interest. No matter how deep they had sent Bakugo into the Woodlands to all the other tribes he always came back empty handed.

Aizawa spoke up after a long moment of silence, "Well I guess the meeting is over, Shall we all go to the tavern for drinks?"

The three men left the conference room in defeat, no progress on the Bakugo front and preparations for the ceremony were already behind.

The next two weeks would be long.
