Prologue

Heyo! Second attempt at a Glorybringer legacy book! Hope you like this one! I might bring back THoTT (The Heir of Two Thrones) but Idk, will go under serious edits if I do so...

Also, made the cover myself! Drew Shadowscale, he took HOURS but he was SOOOOOOOO worth it! The background is generic, provided by IbisXPaint,  an app I TOTALLY RECOMMEND if you are planning on going digital...

Two dragons raced out towards the hatchery in the dead of night. Excitement radiating from each and every scale as they did so.

"You sure?" The black one called, his voice shaking with excitement as he locked his ebony eyes upon the colorful one. "The it's hatching? Tonight?"

"Yes!!!" She replied, too excited to be annoyed at the fact that this was about the hundredth time he asked. Her scales where a mess of gold, lavender, yellow and pink. The same words replaying in her head as she ran. It's hatching tonight!

When the Royal Hatchery was in sight, both expecting parents picked up speed. More gold exploded across the RainWing's scales, causing her to look almost like a living statue than a dragon. The guard, unaware of them at the moment, was nodding off, his scales a an aqua as his eyes began to droop. Suddenly, the RainWing and the NightWing landed abruptly before him, shocking him out of his drowsy state as his scales blotted with acidic green and dabs of yellow.

"Queen Glory!" He stammered out and gave a clumsy bow. "I-"

She pushed pass him and lunged through the doors of the hatchery.

"WHERE IS IT!!!!!" She roared as she shot back out. She was seething as a fiery red marched across her scales. She lunged at the poor guard and pinned him to the ground. "WHERE IS MY EGG!? WHERE IS HE!?"

He? YES! He is a he! I know! I can feel it!

"P-p-Princess S-s-s-Sunny came by and- and said a N-n-n-NightWing sh-should hatch under the n-n-night s-sky! P-please don't kill me!" He whimpered out.

"Sunny? How-"

"My little Mango?"

"Don't call me mango, Deathbringer-"

"I think he's trying to, like, breath? Your crushing his throat..."

"What?" The RainWing glanced down at the guard in her clutches and saw that he was, indeed, struggling to breath.

"Oh." She replied as light pink scales of embarrassment rose and she let go of his throat.

He gasped and greedily gulped the air, his pink eyes silently thanking the NightWing for saving his life.

"Sunny said she'd be on the Royal platform, and to inform you so if you came." He said when he was able to breath somewhat properly again. Without a single word, the RainWing expanded her wings and jumped into the air. The NightWing then turned and gave an apologetic smile to the guard.

"Sorry about the Queen." He said. "She's just-"

"Oh, I understand!" The guard said with a wary smile. "My wife was the same way! Surprising, ever since Glory made sure that every dragonet had a family... well... EVERY female started acting the same way..."

"Ha! Yeah, well, thank you, for the both of us." The NightWing replied as he snapped his wings open.

"Well, if either of you need help with your dragonets, let me know. I've raised eight, a ninth on the way!" He replied proudly, his ruffles expanded, his chest puffed and prideful indigo marching through his scales.

"thanks, we'll keep that in mind." He replied before launching into the air. He had to beat his wings hard to catch up with Glory, and was thoroughly winded by the time they landed on the platform with light thuds. Sunny was perched in it's center, her warm, golden body wrapped around the egg, staring at it with wonder glinting in her green eyes. Glory's scales bubled yellow with flecks of red and orange.

"SUNNY! YOU SCARED THE MOONS OUT OF ME!" Glory roared. Her voice so loud, she nearly woke up the entire Rainforest. The SandWing/NightWing Hybrid turned and smiled.

"Glory! The egg is going to hatch!" She squealed with excitement. The RainWing Queen rolled her eyes.

"No, really?" She replied sarcastically then frowned. "How did you know he was hatching anyways? I mean... you..." light pink bubbled around her as she tried to finish her sentence as less bluntly as possible.

"-Aren't the mother?" Sunny finished with a giggle. "Yes, I know but... I don't know... I just... I could just feel it. Not just from the egg but from you, I had a feeling you knew-"

She stopped suddenly as a movement caught her eye, causing her to glance down at the egg.

"Err... is it just me? Or is the egg turning... um... silver?" Deathbringer pointed out. Indeed, the white and black egg started to become engulfed in a silvery light.

"No." Glory replied, equally stunned. "I see it too..."

Sunny gently rose and made her way to Glory's side. "Do you think that mean she's hatching?"

"He." Glory corrected. "And I don't know, I've never witnessed a hatching before!"

"Shhh!" Deathbringer hushed causing the Queen and Princess to go silent. "Listen..."

~☆~

"Err... is it just me? Or is the egg turning... um... silver?" A voice mumbled fro outside. The dragonet slowly started to open his eyes as he heard the response of a female. "No. I see it too..."

What could it mean? Is the egg lying? Is it a RainWing or NightWing thing? The male started wondering. The dragonet liked him already. His mind felt excited, eager to meet his hatchling.

names, names, names... What are good names? Jaguar? Leopard? I am NOT naming my son after a fruit! The female thought. She was definitely the mother. Her mind was a mess of excitement and fear. He liked her too.

OH! I am SO EXCITED! I've never seen a hatching before! It's weird, why is it silver? Oh well! I wonder how a RainWing/NightWing hybrid would look? I think SO PRETTY!!!! The final conscious said. He knew they where, by no means, related. She had this warm, sunny glow about her that made him want to break out of his prison and run into her embrace. A flash of this scenario played in his head and he felt the hurt coming from his parents, causing his to pause.

"Do you think that mean she's hatching?" The owner of the bright and warm conscious asked.

"He." His mother corrected. "And I don't know, I've never witnessed a hatching before!"

He scrapped slightly at the membrane around him, just to see if it was easy.

"Shhh!" The father hushed causing the mother and the bright to go silent "Listen..."

The dragonet started scratching more rapidly, feeling as all three of their consciousnesses seemed to rise with excitement. But then he realized that they weren't the only ones. He felt more, small pinpricks of minds surrounding them, anticipation and excitement rising in their minds too as they watched. Hearing as waves of "it's a boy, The Queen believes he's a prince." echoed throughout, spreading like raindrops falling from a light sprinkle to a downpour.

He wanted to greet them, all of them. After all, they where excited to greet him.

He pounded on his egg, squawking with irritation as it only cracked. He was impatient, he wanted to see them now! He pounded again, and again, and again, only causing the egg to roll.

"Whoa there!" The bright consciousness said as a nice warmth erupted from his right. The dragonet stopped for a second, placing his talon on her warm palm and pushing slightly.

"I can feel him pushing!" She squealed excitedly.

The dragonet squawked again and turned over slightly, then began pounding the other side. Suddenly, a piece flew off. He tried to poke his head out, but all he could manage was his snout.

"I CAN SEE HIS NOSE!" The father squealed. "HE HAS A HANDSOME NOSE! JUST LIKE HIS POPPA!"

The frustrated dragonet pulled back inside and peeked out just as the queen, his mother, rolled her eyes. However, her mind was just as excited. The dragonet then grabbed the eggshell with his talons and started to break chinks off and expand his wings.

BOOM!

The egg shattered into many pieces.

"AWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEE!" A collective voices called as he looked up to see as dragons began to materialize in all types of colors.

"Oh. My. MOONS!" The bright mind exclaimed causing the dragonet to turn his attention back to them.

"He's..." The father started, but remained speechless as he just gaped at his new son.

"Beautiful..." The mother finished in a breathless voice. Indigo marched across her scales as she filled with pride.

"You still gotta name him." Sunny said, turning to the parents. The dragonet sat down, his back straight and his long, prehensile tail wrapped around his talons in a regale stance.

"I don't-"

"MOONSHREADER!!!!" The father immediately said causing the dragonet to jump. He knew immediately he hated the name, or was that the feelings of his mother as she glared at the NightWing.

"Uh, yeah, no." She said.

"Oh come on! It's a GREAT name!" He insisted.

"I said, no."

"Puma?" Sunny hesitantly added.

"Mmmmm... no?" Glory said, sincerily hesitant. "I don't know... I was thinking something NightWing-y for this one- No, NOT Moonshreader!" She snapped as father was in the process of opening his mouth.

"Shadowstrike?" The father offered after a while.

"I like Shadow, but not strike..." She stared at him for a while then smiled. She then made her way towards him and grabbed the dragonet gently and held him up. "Shadowscale."

"Oooo! I like it!" Sunny said.

"I LOVE it!" Deathbringer exclaimed.

"Then it's official!" Glory declaired. "Our first born, Prince Shadowscale of the RainWings and NightWings!"

I'm really excited about this one! I feel good about it! I stayed up till 1:58am just to publish it! So... yeah, good night Lol! XD
