Chapter 1

Shadowscale coward into a dark corner, letting his scales become one with his namesake. He watched in anticipation as he saw a shadow of a dragon shifting around, searching, for him. He held his breath, his heart racing a million miles per-second as adrenaline surged through him. It started forward, his breathing started again, slowly, but his heart rate increased. Yet he remained still, knowing that it was the only way to remain undetected.Watching as the shadow's owner came closer, and closer, until she jumped into view.

She was a dragonet, only slightly over one years old. Her green, innocent eyes scanned the scenery before her while she bound forward excitedly.

"Big Brrrrrrrrooooooooootherrrrrrrrrrrrr! Where are yoooooooooouuuuuuuuuu!" She called as she ran forward.

"Are you.... HERE!" She cried as she jumped on a pile of blankets. She yelped as her purple form was swallowed whole, the scene nearly making Shadowscale burst out laughing. Nearly. She growled and clawed at the evil, dragon devouring blankets until she returned to the land of Pyrrhia once more.

"HA! TAKE THAT BLANKETS!" She exclaimed, sticking her tongue out at them before turning away and bounding over to the bushes.

"What about... HERE!" She exclaimed once again and she pushed back the bushes.

"Errm!" She growled as she stomped, starting to get annoyed. She continued to search for ten more minutes, getting increasingly more frustrated with each failed attempt at finding Shadowscale. Finally, she flopped down in the center and called, "Okay, okay! You win... AGAIN!"

However, he remained hidden for a bit longer, just being the typical mean, two-year-old older brother.

"Come oooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnn Shadow! Where are you?" She called out, her voice cracking with the slightest fear. Did... did he leave me? He heard her think. After a few more seconds of silence, her lower lip started to wobble and her green eyes became watery. He... he left me? Alone? She thought again as small sobs began to emit from her. Shadowscale immediately began to feel guilty. Sure, he liked to tease his younger sister, but he hated to see her cry. He took that as his signal to emerge from his spot, as if he was a spirit rising from the shadows.

"You know I hate to see you cry, Firefly." He said when he was in full view. Firefly whipped her head around, the sadness vanishing as a large smile came in it's place. Without another word, she bound towards him and tackled him in a hug. Right as they made contact, Shadowscale gasped as a large, splitting headache crashed down onto him. Visions began to swarm his eyes, visions he did not like at all.

Queen Glory and King Deathbringer's bodies where on the floor, a much older Firefly roaring in fury as she charged a figure with dark eyes. He was laughing, a bone chilling laugh. An older Shadowscale standing in the middle of the room, his amber eyes wide with bewilderment as he had no idea of what is going on. He wanted to help her avenge their parents, yet, he also wanted to crawl into a hole, hide, and cry. Join me little seer! a voice boomed in his head, in future him's head that is. Join me, and the NightWings shall become the lords of all of Pyrrhia! He  didn't know what to do, he was so scared. He was a coward, he knew this would happen, yet he did nothing to help change it.

"Shadow... you're hurting me." Firefly whispered. Those words brought him back to the present.

"Wha-" He was about to say, when he realized he was digging his talons onto her back. He immediately let go and pushed her off of him, taking a few steps backwards as he did so.

What's the matter with him? Is he okay? He heard her think as she made a few cautious steps towards him. He was used to hearing other dragon's thoughts, it was something he was born able to do. But that? He had never had something like that happen before.

"Shadow? Are you okay?" She asked, taking another timid step closer.

"I..." Shadowscale started, but stopped. Was he? Was that just a headache? Was he going insane? Why did he see his mother and father dead? His sister enraged? And who was that dark dragon, laughing? Did that voice belong to him? "I... have a bit of a headache! I- I have to go!"

"But-"

Shadowscale flicked his tail and a pink RainWing materialized out of thin air.

"Uncle Jambu?" He asked the pink RainWing.

"Yeeeees?" He replied with a playful edge.

"Do you mind taking my sister back to the house?" Shadowscale asked as he nodded to the princess.

"Of course! But... what about you?" He asked as he jumped over and landed beside Princess Firefly.

"I'll be fine, I just... need to be alone for a bit..."

"Okay!"

"But-" Firefly started but was then cut off by Jambu. "ONWARD! To my little sis's home!"

And with that said, he scooped up Firefly and vanished into the direction of their home. Shadowscale sat down and closed his eyes, allowing the mental barriers to fall slightly to feel if there are any more hidden RainWing presences.

There where none.

So he spread his wings and jumped off the forest floor and into the night air. He knew where he wanted to go, and luckily, it wasn't too far.

Along the edge of the RainWing village, was another, smaller settlement consisting of a few NightWings. These where the NightWings that didn't leave with the dark dragon all those years ago, the ones who had completely proven their loyalty to Queen Glory.

He landed with a light thud a little ways away, willing his colored scales to become a silver and flattening his ruffles against his head before walking in. If the NightWings didn't look too long, he'd look just like another NightWing who's internal clock started to change back to night. He quickly, yet not suspiciously, to the hut he was looking for. He raised his fist to knock, but hesitated.

Why here? he pondered as he cocked his head at the door. He heard a consciousness sigh.

You ask me... she thought causing him to jolt.

Hello? he mentally called out.

He could feel her consciousness stiffen. Can you... hear my thoughts?

Y-yes... can you... hear mine?

Immediatly, he heard fumbling from inside then jumped back as the door swung outward. There stood a gorgeous NightWing, one of the prettiest he had ever seen. The only thing that marred her beauty was the small scar on her shoulder, but it didn't take away from how stunning she really looked. She had shiny, deep emerald scales with shades of dark blue and dark green scales and claws like miniature curved crescents. Her wings are purplish emerald green with medium to large white flecks at the bottom of her wings and tiny to small flecks on the rest of her wings. She has a silver scale shaped like a teardrop on the outside corner of each of her dark green eyes. Just like mine... he thought as he reached a talon up to touch his own.

"Are you a princess?" He asked out loud causing her to laugh. Obviously, she knew he thought she was pretty, because she is like me.

"Yes, I am." She replied. "And thank you, but I can say I am quite average for a NightWing. Come on in."

Thank you. He replied mentally and made his way inside. The moment she closed the door, he let his scales return to colorful and stopped pinning his ruffles to his head. When she turned around again, she looked slightly surprised.

"Aren't you Prince Shadowscale!?" She exclaimed.

Yes. He replied, sitting down and curling his tail around his talons.

And you have mind reading powers? She asked, sitting down across from him and staring with intrigue. He nodded again, his mind saying, yes.

"Incredible... does..."

"No. No one knows, and I want to keep it that way." He replied, fidgeting with his claws uncomfortably as he spoke.

The NightWing's lips thinned, as if she wanted to protest, but only nodded in response.

"I understand, but if I may, it's much better to tell those you love sooner rather than later. I made the mistake of waiting and lets just say... I was lucky it ended okay in the end..."

Shadowscale glanced down at his talons, he knew she was right, but he just... he just didn't want to seem different. Special. He didn't want to take away from his sister, the future queen...

The dragon smiled down at him. "Awe, you care about her, don't you?"

"Of course, she's my baby sister."

"Awe! That's so sweet! Oh, and I'm Moonwatcher by the way, but you can call me Moon."

"Okay, Moon. I... I came-"

The memory of the vision flashed in his mind, causing Moonwatcher to gasp.

"Oh moons! I've seen that too! You're a seer too!?" She asked, surprised again.

Shadowscale just frowned. "Seer?"

"You can see the future. Like, what's going to happen and stuff-"

"THAT'S THE FUTURE!? MY MOM AND DAD ARE GOING TO DIE!?" He cried, flinging his wings over his head as he fell to the floor with despair.

I can't let that happen, no, I won't let that happen-

The pain erupted in his temples again and he saw another, though it was slightly different.

Shadowscale jumped in front of the dark dragon, his amber eyes filled with resentment. He chuckled evilly as his gaze fell upon his older self. "OH! How quaint! You think you can stop me? You are a fool, and shall die along with your pathetic half-breed family!" And he felt a searing pain in his chest, and the vision darkened.

"Shadow? SHADOW!? WAKE UP! IT'S NOT HAPPENED YET! YOU CAN STILL CHANGE IT!" Moonwatcher roared, bringing the young dragonet too. He shook his head and began to whimper. "Why me..."

"No, don't say that! I mean, yes, I thought they where a curse too, but then I realized just how much of a blessing they are! You can use this power to save your family!"

"But how? I can't- I don't even-"

"I can teach you." Moonwatcher interrupted, causing the young prince to stare at her with wide eyes.

"You can?"

Moonwatcher nodded. "Yes, I can teach you how to better control your powers. I had a good teacher, even if he did turn out to be bad..."

She shook her head then smiled down at Shadowscale. "Yes, I'll teach you."

"When?" He asked, perking up.

"Tomorrow." She replied as she made her way over to open the door for him. "Just after sundown."

I love Moonwatcher, and no, they aren't shipped, that'd be weird, pedophile gross shit and that's just no. This is a Moonbli (Sorry Winterwatcher fans, but I am just going with what is cannon. Truthfully, I like both ships equally and might alternate between the two in future WoF books...), and I have the PERFECT dragon planned for Shadowscale...

Also! I don't mind adding your OCs in this book! Just be warned that they will be VERY minor characters who will probably have little to no importance to the plot, but I WILL need more dragons for later and I am only good at NightWing  and RainWing names and I don't want to have just NightWing  and RainWings with names so... yeah...

So... here is how adding your character is going to go down...

1. I am only allowing 5 Hybrids (and they can only be hybrids from 2 tribes. No more, no less {this is does not apply to Sandleaf, who can I am saving a 6th hybrid spot for, I am doing this because they helped me  choose Shadowscale's name and their OC will have an important spot. So Sandleaf ? You can make one even IF all 5 are taken})

2. I will only also allow 5 RainWing OCs, and 5 NightWing Ocs.

3. There can be an  infinite amount of any others, however, only use one dragon per user, UNLESS they made ONE hybrid OR Rian or Night. You can only make ONE or THE OTHER!

4. Dragons can be no younger than 1, mainly so they can actually SPEAK to the main character.

So... here is the... whatever it's called...

Name:
Tribe(s):
Age:
Description (how he/she loosk):
Occupation (if any):
Personality:
Backstory (though they are minor, I LOVE a good backstory):

That is all my lovelies, GOOD NIGHT!
