Chapter Eight
Death

In the middle of the day, an announcement was made by the queen.

"Two weeks ago, the king of our kingdom was said to be in critical condition as he suffered from poison and deprivation of blood. Yesterday, I was informed that my dear husband, our king, had passed away peacefully. His funeral will be two days from now and I will rule in place until our only child has married a suitable girl who will rule alongside him after he is crowned king. Thank you."

Everything came so suddenly. I barely had time to react. My father had died, the only one I love left me, I have to become king soon and the girl I get to marry isn't her. How did my life turn to this?

"You must go on a date with each girl on this list."

She threw a two page document on my lap harshly and continued talking.

"You will pick the girl you are at least comfortable with and you will marry her and have your coronation."

"Yes mother" I finally agreed. It's not like she would come back. I had no other choice.

"Are you agreeing?"

"Yes, I am."

"I am shocked but I am not surprised. Since you are my only son and you are suffering from a broken heart, I will give one condition. I will give you one month to make this crucial decision."

"Thank you mother"

I must find someone else since Lily will not come back to me again.
