Lily

The deafening silence of the forest could have shown that no species resided in the thick woods. However, I knew the truth. The forest was enchanted with a protection spell by some of the strongest witches. You couldn't hear a sound if you were human.

Werewolves. That was the species a few miles away and who I decided to visit first. I knew it wouldn't take long to get to their pack house so I decided to sit by a tree to relax.

I closed my eyes and started listening to the trees rustling. I listened even more intently. A squirrel eating its acorn, a deer running through the grass, even the patter of the wings of a bird nearby. Was this what it was like to be undead? The calming sounds around had pleased me so much that it took me some time to recognize the presence near me.

"Who are you?"

The person started to laugh one of the most melodious sounds I had ever heard. Was this a werewolf?

I turned around in the direction of the stranger and the sight shocked me.

A tall, handsome man with brown chestnut hair flowing down to the middle of his forehead and a warm smile on his face was leaning on a nearby cherry tree.

"You're new to this, aren't you?"

"Excuse me?"

"You're a vampire but you took so long to acknowledge me," he chuckled slightly before continuing. "What are you doing here?" His face turned serious and I knew he was doing this because I was an enemy in his eyes.

"Don't worry. I don't want to make trouble," I put my hands up in mock surrender to show that I meant no harm.

"You better not"

Before I could say another word, another male jogged up to stand beside the tall male.

"Who the hell are you?" His mouth curled into a scowl. "What's a filthy bloodsucker doing here?"

I leaned my head on the trunk of the tree and smiled.

"A bloodsucker? Damn, I've never heard a term like that before. Is it new?"

"Why, you-" he marched up to me before the male I just met caught his arm.

"Chill, let her talk"

"I don't want any trouble. I've just never heard anyone call a vampire a bloodsucker."

"Why wouldn't I? You kill people for no reason." His tone was full of hate and anger and I could understand his case. Apparently, there were vampires who loved killing for fun but there were also vampires who had rules to not kill humans.

"I wouldn't know since I've never fed from a human before and I have no intention to"

If confusion was a person, it would be him. His eyebrow arched at my answer and he looked like a lost puppy.

"Huh? But aren't you an old vampire?"

"Newly turned, actually," I smiled sweetly.

"A newly turned vampire? With this much control?"

"I learned from the best. I really didn't come here to start trouble. I'm just curious"

"Alright. I'll still be watching you"

"I'd be concerned if you didn't"

"My name is Joshua and this is Marcus," the tall, handsome man that I had talked to before, said.

"He's our alpha!" The younger boy, Marcus, exclaimed. He seemed genuinely happy to state it. He's proud of his alpha.

"Alpha?" I asked, intrigued. "Well, I'm sorry to be a burden" I stood up and bowed playfully.

"Not a burden at all," his smile made my heart skip a beat. His smile was enchanting like you could never get enough.

However, I kept thinking of Jungkook. Even though he cheated on me, I still cared about him. I still loved him.

"Well, do you want to see the rest of my pack? They might be a little hostile at first but they'll warm up to you, I'm sure."

"Thank you. I hope my visit isn't intrusive. I just want to know more about you all"

"I've never met a vampire as inquisitive as you"

"Thank goodness you didn't find someone like me"

They both laughed and carried me over to the pack house.

"I'll talk to the others. Hopefully, they accept you as fast as I did. I'll be right back," Joshua said as he entered the house leaving me with Marcus.

"You don't like vampires, do you?"

"Only the raging ones who are merciless. Vampires like you I can get used to."

"Were you born a werewolf? I read that some could be born and others bitten"

"Yea, that's right but no, I wasn't one of the born ones. Joshua was actually the one to bite me."

"Oh. Is Joshua a born werewolf then?"

"Yeah, he is. His family has been werewolves for generations, all alphas."

"Wow, for a family like that, I thought he would hate vampires with a passion."

"Well, Joshua's pretty kind hearted. He probably already sensed that you're new so that was a plus too"

"You guys look after each other, don't you?"

"Yea, we're like a big family. Everyone looks out for each other"

"That's amazing. It must be nice to have people look out for you like that."

"Don't you?"

I didn't answer him but instead relished in the sweet silence of the forest. Even without the spell, the forest was enchanting. Birds chirped their sweet song, trees blew their leaves in the air, small rabbits feasted on their nuts. Breathtakingly sweet, I soaked it all in and slowly exhaled with a beaming smile on my face.

Soon, Joshua came out with a smile on his face, beckoning me to come inside to meet the pack.

"They did take a while to warm up the idea but I'm pretty sure you're fine," he smiled.

Eyes stared back at me as we entered. Some were calculating, wondering if I was as docile as I presumed Joshua claimed I was. Some were alert, looking as if they would cut my head off if I even sneezed in their direction. The rest were excited, their eyes gleaming at the prospect of meeting a vampire. Of course, they were the younger ones who had only heard stories instead of seeing them face to face.

They smiled briefly at me and I decided to smile back.

"Guys, this is," he paused, turning to me when he realized that he didn't know my name.

"Lily," I paused, debating if I should say my last name to them. Deciding to just get it over with, I continued.

"Jeon Lily"

Suddenly, there was an outburst.

"You brought the queen of the vampire kingdom here?!"

"She's gonna kill us all!"

"Why the hell did you bring Jeon Jungkook's wife here?!"

Joshua looked shocked as well. His lips trembled as he tried to form words but was unable to.

"Don't worry, Joshua didn't know and I didn't come here on any orders. I'm simply here to discover other supernatural creatures."

"Yea right. I'm sure you just want to send us to your dungeons!"

"I'm pretty sure you already know about other supernatural creatures"

"Actually, I never even knew about vampires until a year ago."

"Wait, what?"

"Really?"

"I don't believe you"

"When I met Jungkook, I thought he was a human. He enrolled in my high school and that's how I met him." Of course that wasn't the whole truth but it was most of it.

"I didn't know about vampires until his mother actually told me. Up until then, I only thought they were myths." I continued.

"How do we know she's telling the truth?" A beautiful, young girl around the age of fifteen asked Joshua.

He looked at me briefly and stated.

"She's a friend. She won't hurt us" I looked at him in surprise. How could he know that I wouldn't hurt them?
