Adeline
The power that radiated off of this man convinced me that he said who he said he was, I shuffled back on shaking limbs.
I found it hard to breath as I lay on the warm floor, you would think it was because Lucifer was standing not two feet away but it wasn't. It was this place, where ever it was, the air was heavy with not only heat but something else, something I couldn't place
"You must be Adeline Winters, I've heard lots about you." I'm starting to feel like this was a bad idea, where was Bast.
His red fiery eyes scanned over my body, I felt myself shiver. "I've heard lots about you too." I sputtered out.
He smiled, chuckling lightly, "Witty, I love it. Come, I promise to behave." I tried seeing past his English charm and remember who stood in front of me.
Swallowing I stood, dusting off ashbthat clung to my jeans. The place we were in wasn't a place at all just this black void of nothing, I wasn't even sure how I was seeing him right now.
As he turn, he slowly started to disappear into the darkness, I scrambled after him, trying to keep up with his long legs, I wouldn't want to get lost in here.
Out of thin air, a hallway appeared, lights flickered on as we walked further down the hall, heat came off of the lamps as they exploded with fire, a short groan resonated from the metal candelabra, they gave the impression of being alive.
Reaching the end of the hall was nothing but darkness but Lucifer continued to glide on silent feet, as he did a room appeared. I stop only gawk at this place, a vaulted ceiling with glass windows was high above us with no sky to light the room, just darkness. As I tore my gaze away from the magic appearing roof, I watched as a large black couch materialized in front of me, along with a matching chair. He stood with his hand on his chin seeming to think, he snapped his fingers as if rememebering, only now a table and a fireplace appeared just as he was about to sit in the chair.
"How did you do all this, nothing was here before." I touched the black wall beside me, thinking my hand would go straight through but it didn't, my hand met solid concrete.
He seemed amused by my curiosity, "I let you see what I want you to, think of anything and I can give you what you wish."
I bit my lip, the only thing I could think of right now was water.
"Then you will have it, raise out your hand." I did as he said and in seconds a glass of water was placed on the palm of my hand.
I gripped it not wanting it to fall as I brought the cold liquid to my lips, I had finished it in one gulp. "Thank you." I muttered.
He gestured to the couch, "Sit." He sat it the recliner, his long leg sat folded over the other.
Not wanting to be rude I sat opposite of him, sitting on the black sofa, the empty glasses refilled as I waited for him to speak.
"Now what brings you here Adeline and do not say you don't know. I get easily tired of insolent comments."
I gulped down the water before speaking, forcing myself to face his fiery gaze, "I want to know if this can be undone, me becoming a succubus."
His head tilted to the side, a wide grin spreading across his pale complexion, "How strange I usually do not recieve such forthcoming of requests, may I ask why?" He leaned forward slightly, seeming to take in every inch of my face.
"I don't want to kill to survive, to feed, it's not in me to do."
He narrowed his red eyes disbelievingly, "Oh, I'm afraid you have already done just that, have you not."
"I didn't mean to ki-" He waved his hand in the air as if dismissing me all together.
"Do not child, you had every intention of killing that man, yet here you are blaming the succubus for your actions but it is you who enforced them, you who gave the demon permission."
I avoid his gaze, knowing all too well that he was in fact right.
"Do not be ashamed, in some humans it comes naturally to kill, in others it is forced upon them."
Which one of those people am I?
"Can you help me?" I sounded pathetic as I pleaded with him.
His eyes shined with something I couldn't place, "Why would I, you are quite interesting, I've been hearing around here that you're Death's new plaything, is he not treating you right young succubus." He grinned wickedly.
I wanted to lash out, to tell him where to stick it but I needed him, "He has nothing to do with it."
He chuckled his head falling back as he wiped away imagined tears, "You humans are quite something aren't you, lying gets you absolutely no where here young one. Now I repeat my question, what has Death done to turn you against him." His eyes gleamed with excitement to know my answer.
"He does have something to do with it but it's irrelevant to why I'm here." I was becoming irritated.
"Irrelevant, oh but nothing is ever irrelevant," He stops, his head turning slightly to the side, "what's wrong Adeline, I can hear your heart beat faster as it sits inside that body of yours."
I try to calm myself but nothing works, I don't think I should be here anymore.
"You know if he treats you wrongly I could always use some extra fire here." I could see flames in those eyes now, watching my every move ever so carefully.
"Sorry but I'll have to pass on your offer."
He leans back slowly, "I could always steal you away."
I shot up from my seat, "This was a mistake I should be going."
"Sit." With a flick of his wrist I was slammed back down onto the couch.
I fought against the hold he had over me, slowly pushing forward, only to be forced back again, I grunted loudly, unable to move.
"As a matter of fact kneel," I was thrown forward, my hands landing first catching me soon after my knees connected with the floor in front of him. "That's better."
My body was between his legs, kneeling in front of him like some slave. I groaned trying to fight the invisible shield blocking me from escaping but I knew I wasn't going anywhere. His burning hand lifted my chin, forcing me to look at him, his eyes were full flames now, catching fire to anything he laid eyes on. Unfortunately that was me, my cold body warmed, a barely noticeable thing then it burned scorching my insides. I screamed my body was covered in a thin layer of sweat as I struggled against him.
"Fire and ice, polar opposites. We don't mix well do we succubus." He leaned down his lips skimming across my face, burning a path to my mouth. He focused back to my eyes, gazing into them as if to memorize them. "They are quite beautiful."
I hated that my demon was quiet the whole time he did this to me, as if she didn't care.
I winced not drom his burning tkuch but from her, I do care, you're the one trying to get rid of me.
Shut up!
"Can you help me or not or are you jut like the rest of us?" My demon wouldn't help me get out of here so I had to use my undying devotion to my charm, if I had any. I leaned forward my lips barely touching his. I moved my head making him grip my neck instead of holding my chin. Letting my tongue make a cold trail up his jaw line, I felt him growl deeply, "Help me and I will give you anything you want." I finished by kissing the corner of his mouth.
Pulling away I saw only his amused expression, "That was quite a show darling. Do it again love. This time just get straight to it, legs apart ready for me."
I ripped away from him, watching him laugh, he held his chest as if he had never seen something so hilarious. I felt my energy swirl around me, I was unable to contain the sensation of wanting to kill him, I don't think my demon understood that he was the devil but she still wanted to hurt him.
I thought you didn't want to help.
He insulted my techniques.
That was you.
Well it certainly wasn't you.
Whatever. How do we get out of here?
No idea. I'm not map quest for the underworld.
Ignoring her, I lfocused back on the devil who still seemed as if this whole situation was just hilarious. He turned to me, his red eyes finding my blue ones. "You're a little fire cracker aren't you, I see why Death needed a little advice on how to control someone like you."
Advice? On how to control me? Of all people, I'm flattered. "Just let me go if you aren't going to help me then."
"Let's explain a few things here, Succubus." He leaned forward, his eyes grazing every part of my body. "I cannot help you. You see your demon is under control of another, I could not touch her do to laws set in centuries ago."
"You knew I was going to ask you to change me, didn't you just so you could have a little fun." I struggled against him but he left me no room to do so.
"Of course, I need some form of entertainment even if you belong to another." He reached out touching my cheek lightly, his touch was like fire against my skin. "Death owns you love." In one fluid motion he grasped my body in an iron grip. "Oh but if I could, you'd love it here." I struggled against him as his lips touched my neck. "You'd never be ignored." His teeth grazed my pulse, which was beating like crazy.
"Let her go." The lethal growl of the person who spoke made the devil laugh. His body shook on top of me still not letting me go despite the threat. "Now." Lucifer leaned away from me only to wink down at me, he leaned in so fast but the kiss I recieved was so soft.
Then he was gone, laughing somewhere I couldn't see, "Death." I whispered. He was the newcomer, he now stood in front of me his hand extended for me to take. I took it, his hand came up examining my face moving here and there as if he wanted to find a mark, just so he could hurt whoever did it.
I hear my demon sigh, liking his cold touch to Lucifer's burning one.
You are so annoying.
Shhh.
"Come on." I felt my body obey, I didn't have much of a choice now a days.
"Death stay a little longer, we were just getting acquainted me and your new succubus." His voice held so much amusement, I can feel Death fuming beside me.
Death turns to me his face a mask of nothing, "I'm sending you back, go straight home. Do you hear me Adeline."
"Yeah, straight home." I rolled my eyes.
"Please." His voice was strained as if he was holding back so many emotions all at once.
I couldn't help but agree, "Okay."
He seemed satisfied, he immediately muttered something with a wave of his hand, a door opened.
He urged me forward, "Remember you'll land on your feet just close your eyes as you enter, leave your mind blank it makes it easier."
I nodded but I still felt unsure, I really didn't want him to make me do this alone.
Taking a deep breath I walked to the black hole, no light could penetrate the dark portal, it was terrifying.
"Adeline." I turned to Lucifer, his eyes gleaming with mischief.
"Visit soon love, oh and just before you go." He walked over to me, ignoring Deaths hard glare, leaning into my ear he whispered softly, "You should really keep her."
I move away from him, his red eyes flash with amusement.
"Go Adeline." Death shouted, his voice barely containing his anger.
Closing my eyes I jump into the portal, I felt the feeling of falling then a bright light flashed across my eyes just as before. I forced down the scream I felt building up as I fell, landing with a loud oomph, my back connecting with the ground. Lifting myself up I looked around, I was in my backyard like before.
It was morning, the night was gone just like that, the sun was rising as I walked to my house. I didn't feel tired at all the day was swept away fairly quickly while I was away. When I'm with Death the time here goes by slow but when I was with Lucifer it went by fast. I'll never understand this other world full of the monsters.
Walking to the back door, I stay quiet as I tiptoe up the stairs. Everyone is still asleep, unless they aren't home. Closing my door softly, I look around for catwomen. She was suppose to help me with Lucifer not throw me in there blind.
Where is that dang cat?
Opening my window I lean out, "Bast!" I scream only its just a loud whisper, she should hear me. "Bastet."
"Meow." I look up to see the cat in the tree in front of me. She's sitting on a branch, her tail twirling around as if she owned it.
"Get in here." I ordered.
I back away from the window, letting her jump inside. She changes in front of me, her body shivers slightly then the cat falls away revealing the girl. She stands, facing me she tries to look innocent but she's not, she's a demon.
So are you.
No you were forced into me, I wasn't born with you.
She didn't bother to reply because I was right, she wasn't wanted.
"What the hell happened, Bast? You were suppose to come with me."
"Hey hey wait let me explain, he knew we were coming, don't ask me how but he did. He overpowered me and made you go to him, I'm sorry there was nothing I could do."
I groaned falling onto my bed, "Its alright, he can't help me anyway, I asked him if he could help me and he cant."
"I thought so, there are rules Adeline, ones you don't understand yet."
"Why didn't you just tell me this before, Lucifer ended up being very hand one in the end." I shuddered, his red eyes will never be forgotten.
"Are you serious, I did tell you, you just didn't want to listen. As for Lucifer being handsy well I would expect nothing less from him."
I leaned up on my elbows peering up at the cat. "How the hell am I suslose to get rid of this demon, I just want everything to go back to normal. With no Death, no Lucifer and no demons, no offense."
She raised her hands, "Nontaken but I have an idea one you may not enjoy."
"Give it to me outright, I don't care."
She sits down on my floor, crossing her legs, "Have you heard of Lilith?"
They name didn't sound familiar at all, "No, who is it?"
"Well Lilith is a she and she was the first succubus, she was cursed ages ago to be what she is now."
"The first succubus really, I mean is she still alive."
"Rumors fly in the world I'm from and they say yeah, that she is."
If she was the first succubus she has to have at least the knowledge of what makes a succubus and possibly how to undo one.
I sat up from my bed unable to contain my excitement,"So how do we find her."
"Well, that's the thing these are just rumors, no one really knows how or where to begin to find her. There's also the possibility that she doesn't even exist. The legend that has been passed down of Lilith has been changed and distorted that no one knows what's real or fake."
Does everything have to be so complicated, "What does the legend say about her?"
"The legend was that she was born human, the most beautiful but she disobeyed a law put down on earth long ago and was cursed. Now she's unrecognizable more demon than ever, barely any trace of human left.
She was so vain that she was disgusted by her appearance and so she hid herself away where no one would find her and judge her for what she had become."
I wonder wat law was broken, who she crossed to be cursed with something as dreadful as never seeing the light of day, "What if we ask around? Could we find her?"
"Its a long shit I'll give you that but I known a place, a demon club we can go to, I'm sure someone will know something there."
"Demon club." I groaned.
"Yeah its so awesome there, we can be ourselves without anyone saying anything. It's one of my favorite places." I could tell her yellow eyes gleamed with excitement, I however didn't share the same feeling.
"Great." Somewhere else where I will see freaky ass shit, "When do these things usely happen."
"I understand you have school and such but these places open up on their own terms, on their own time."
"So we wait for the club to come to us." I asked confused.
"Yeah and then I'll find you once we know the exact day."
I yawned loudly, nodding my head at her from closed eyes.
I hear Bast chuckle, "Go to bed halfling, I'll be around."
I nodded again, crawling under my blankets.
For some reason I dreamed of Lilith, of how she would look when I saw her, of how she would react when I came to her. Every time she called me her child, wanting me to find her and set her free.
