Adeline

This is insane, she's insane, this world is insane and I can't take it anymore.

"Are you blind Adeline, you can't wear that?"

It's was nine thirty when Bastet finally decided to show up at my door, seeing as though I yelled at her for binding us to a club and all.

I regret ever asking her to help me, I threw everything out of my closet and showed her multiple dresses and skirts but nothing seemed to satisfy her demon head.

"What am I going to wear then Bastet, I have nothing else." Her voice was starting to irritate me, she insulted every piece of clothing I owned.

She paced back and forth across the entrance of my bedroom door, I swear she was more cat in that moment than any,"You have to understand, this isn't some school dance or some random bar," She stopped to stare at me. "Where we are going Adeline is one of the most popular demon clubs on this planet and the next. A place where people like me don't only roam free but where humans like you stand out for easy pickings." She walks up to me, standing with her hands on her hips, what she was wearing said it all. Her usual short hair was long, it cascaded down her bare back shining against the light. She had on a gold bra that wrapped around her breast and looped around her neck, dangling from the bottom were chains, they swayed showing off her stomach that shined with gold glitter. Her legs had on tight leather shorts that stopped mid thigh, her black boots reached her knees covering the rest of her legs. I didn't even want to mention her makeup, everything about her was perfect.

"What am I supposed to do Bast?"

She grinned evilly, her small fangs biting down on her bottom lip, "Okay so your bff Death has this amazing thing in his home, it's a wardrobe that gives you any clothing in your size instantly."

I knew exactly what she was talking about, "Bast I've used the wardrobe, I mean it was by accident but I've seen it."

She practically jumped on top of me, "That's great! You see I thought it was a myth, people just whispering nonsense to spread gossip but this is good, this is perfect." She jumped up and down as she gripped my shoulders, "So you know where it is if we go back there."

I laughed, pulling her claws from my shoulders, "Yeah I do but how are we going to get past Death, won't he know that we are there."

I did not want him to catch us, he did not need to know that I was trying to get rid of this demon. I could only imagine what that conversation would look like.

"That's the easy part, I was just nervous that we wouldn't find it." She beamed, her yellow eyes dilated and then focused again.

"Okay so let's go, we have to hurry it's already ten and if we don't get there in time you said it yourself we can't do this again."

She calmed herself, smoothing out her hair carefully, "Alright, I'm ready." She just stood there not moving an inch as if a portal was just going to appear.

I pushed her, making her waiver on her high heels, "What are doing, I can't summon a portal?"

She glared at me, "I forgot alright, my gosh. I'm not used to carrying around dead weight."

I matched her glare as she snapped her fingers with just a small flick of her wrist a portal appeared in my room.

I stared at the gold looking portal, it wasn't its usual black like the ones Death summoned, "Are you sure you're doing it right Bast?"

"Are you a portal expert now Adeline, does my portal not meet your high expectations!"

"Would you quiet down Bast, my dad and sister are like five feet away." I waited for her reply but she just folded her arms, defiantly. "As for your portal, no I'm not an expert but its just different alright." Who knew demons would get so touchy over their portals.

She peered at me from the side, still not facing me, "My portal is that of my own, a demon and someone like Death are two different things, his is black almost like the night sky right, well mine however happens to be gold. Now shut up and get inside."

I rolled my eyes but still curious on the whole portal thing, I thought well...I thought Death was a demon. If only he were here, he would say, 'No Adeline another subject for another time.' I smiled to myself, then dismissed it, there will be no smiling at least not when it comes to him. I rubbed my head feeling a headache start, I need serious help.

I cautiously entered the portal, the process was the same, a flash of light then you fell on solid ground only I miss the ground. I screamed only stopping when my stomach slammed into the railing, grunting as I fall from the railing only to slip as my shaking hands lose the railing. I gasp out loud panicking as I slip down one of the poles of the railing, catching the protruding edges of the staircase before I fall, in try to lift myself up with what little strength I own but to no avail as I dangle freely.

This is the same staircase from before but this time it was much more life threatening as I gripped the bottom of the white railing.

I looked up watching as Bast fell perfectly on the landing in front of me. She didn't seem to see me right away as she turned around like a cat chasing its tail.

"Bast!" I screamed, my voice was strained as I started to breath heavy, sweat was starting to drip down my face. Let's say I shouldn't have skipped gym as much as I did.

She turned finally seeing me dangle from the staircase in front of her, "Oh shit Adeline, how the hell did you do that."

My hands began to sweat as much as my forehead, I could feel them slipping as I struggled to pull myself up, "Just get me the hell up." I half yelled, half whispered at her.

She leaned over the railing, grasping my wrists in her small hands, if you had seen her you wouldn't think she could pull me up from the landing but she did. She hissed as I dug my nails into her arm but I didn't care, I was not fond of broken legs.

She let me drop to the ground with a thud, dusting off herself as if she somehow got dirty. I hate demons. I rubbed my sore stomach, hopefully no brushes will form.

"Need help." She asked leaning down to help me up but I stopped her with a shake of my head. "No," I stood, wiping my sweaty hands onto my jeans, she tried apologizing but I again stopped her, "Nope, let's just go okay."

I pushed my legs forward, trying to remember the exact way to the room he had put me in from when I first got here. I made one left turn then a right and I found the door, I think, I never really got a good look at the outside but I'm pretty sure it was this one.

"Its this one." I pointed to it, not wanting to open it if I was wrong.

She raised her sculpted brow, "Are you sure, cause I sure don't want to walk in on Meeksha doing anything weird."

Meeksha, the snake woman, "You know who she is." I asked disbelievingly.

Her eyes changed, they grew small the yellow of her eyes standing out, "Yeah the healer, she's one of the best around here."

I nod my head, "Right." I couldn't shake the feeling that she was somehow lying to me about how she knew her.

"Well cross your fingers that you're in fact right." She opened the door, peeking her head inside before entering.

I followed her inside, to make sure this was the room I opened the bathroom door finding the counter still in crumbles, "Yep this is for sure the one."

She peeks around me, examining the bathroom, "You did this," I nodded my head in confirmation, "Makes sense I saw what you did to your own room."

I huffed, turning around forcing her to go back into the bedroom. The wardrobe was in the same place as before, walking up to it I placed my hands on the handles ready to get whatever clothes I wanted.

Bast knocks my hands away with a gasp, "Just you wait, I don't think you should be the one to choose your clothes by the looks of your closet. I do not under any circumstances want to be kicked out of this club on the count of you looking ugly."

I glare at her, debating on whether or not I need the demon, "You are so annoying."

She hisses at me, "Move aside so I can choose your outfit."

Folding my arms across my chest I take a step back. "Go on." I would be able to pick out my own outfit but I think she just wants to touch the damn thing.

I groan when she rubs her hands together dramatically, "Shh, I am trying to concentrate." She closes her eyes before placing her hands on the wardrobe.

"Do you want a minute with it alone?" I snickered.

She shoots me an annoyed expression before turning back, she stands there for a few more seconds before she opened her eyes, a Cheshire grin on her face.

She opened the large doors revealing clothes, if you can call them that.

"There's feathers, why are there feathers." I examined the clothes, proving that there were actual feathers on whatever it was inside.

"Shut up and strip." She turned to the wardrobe, retrieving the clothes inside.

"Don't people usually get to know one another before they see them naked." I declared, although I started to in fact strip in front of her, I took off my shoes first, then my sweater.

"There's always a first for everything Adeline, now get that hafling butt moving."

I huffed, taking off my pants and shirt, now that I stood in my underwear and bra, I waited. "Okay now what."

She turns, facing me with the feathery piece, "This first," She walks to me bending low so I can step into the skirt looking feathers. "Adeline don't be frightened but once its on, the fabric will begin to mold to your body."

I stepped back, "No way, you're crazy I'm not getting in that thing, what happens when it doesn't stop squeezing, oh um cutting off my legs!"

She laughs, "Its not going to cut off your legs moron, this piece of clothing is elvish, it's magical, the inner linings of the skirt has been laced with magic to fit anyone." She glances back, pointing at the rest of the clothes, "The other pieces too, really Adeline there safe to wear, I've worn them myself."

"Elves are real." I argued.

"Of course they are don't be ridiculous, now hurry up."

I groan stepping into the damn thing, as the fabric touches my skin I feel it move as if it were alive. Bast let's go letting it glide up my calves, past my knees, and up my thighs. It stops at my waist, reaching barely mid thigh then it begins to tighten like she said it would. The feathers seem to mold themselves to my skin practically becoming one then it stops to my utter surprise.

"It's actually kind of cool Bast." I smile widely unable to keep my hands from touching the soft silvery feathers.

She wiggles her eyebrows up at me, "Told ya, now for the next one." She stands, walking to the bed to retrieve another small piece but it didn't look like much, this too was made of feathers but there were no holes for me to step into.

"What is that supposed to be?"

"It's a shirt, I guess." She shrugs, "Come on take off by your bra."

I look down, "Seriously." I grimaced.

She sighs, "Yeah come on, hurry up we don't have much time for your whining."

I huff loudly, reaching behind me I unclip my black bra, hurrying to cover up my breasts as I let it fall to the ground.

She lifts up the piece of fabric only to gesture to move my hands away, rolling my eyes I drop my hands. The fabric clings to me, covering and stretching to cover my breasts and just below them to my ribs only it doesn't cover my back.

"This won't fall off will it."

She shakes her head, laughing softly, "Just one more thing." She brings a chain like half shirt with cut outs so I guess it doesn't cover much either.

I push my hands through the holes and let it settle onto the bottom of my breasts and behind me kind of like a sports bra but with a bunch of cut outs and that it's made out of chain.

"Okay are we done now."

She snaps her fingers as if forgetting something, "One more thing," She runs to the wardrobe and places her hands on the door handles then flings them open. She carries silver high heels, "Put these on and then we are done, your smudged mascara and eyeliner fit the look so you're good there, as for your hair...well I mean you can put it up kind of leave a few strands loose."

I do as she says, fumbling with the damn heels but I eventually get them on, then I lift my hair in a bun and leave strands to frame my face. "All done."

"Great, you look actually decent. Now we have to go, we only have fifteen minutes until the club opens."

I ignore her act of a complement, "Okay." I grab my clothes off the floor, throwing them underneath the bed.

She faces the door, cutting her finger with her nail, she writes a symbol in her blood then she starts to mumble words in some language, "Ego vocabo osculo a porta ad tenebras." She turns to me, "Adeline I need your blood."

I almost forgot, she said we were bound to the club, "Why?"

"Because our blood acts as the key to get in, I told you, we are bound to the club from this point on, there's no going back. Now choose."

I wanted to say no, that I wasn't going to do it but I wanted to fix this, I wanted to undo what he had done and if this was the way to do so then so be it.

I outstretch my hand, letting her prick my finger with her sharp nail, then she retraces the symbol with my blood mixing the two. "Ego vocabo osculo a porta ad tenebras." She repeats the same words, I only now recognize it from Death, it sounded similar.

I shield my eyes as a bright light forms where the symbol was placed, it starts out small this yellow almost white light then it begins to grow, about the same size as previous portals.

Bastet grins from head to toe as she stares happily at the portal, "Ready to be amazed Adeline, cause you're about to be."

She takes my hand and in the same time we jump inside the portal, I wince as several vibrant flashes pass across us and instead of falling to our deaths we simply walk back onto solid ground.

"Where are we Bast?" From the looks of this place I don't see where they would stick a club. There's not a single person insight as I stare at the empty streets, we've ended up somewhere I've never been.

"We aren't in America, this is considered to be the underworld, a world between two worlds like that of the fey realm and so on."

The Underworld, sounds very appealing, "So where is this place anyway."

She points forward, a old looking building that doesn't seem like much, "Inside that one."

"Are you sure, it's kind of outdated don't you think?"

"Its an illusion, I forgot you didn't have the sight yet, the guy who runs this place has a tight security system so to speak." She starts to walk forward, leaving me behind to watch and see what she does.

"The blood you needed speaks for itself, so how do we get in here now if I don't have this so called sight."

She glances back at me, smiling wildly, "Just walk right in." She turns back, facing the building and continues to strut right into the building and then she suddenly disappears.

Leaving me completely alone in the Underworld.
