The End
Epilogue
Okay, so first of all, obviously I didn't die. Because if I had died, you wouldn't be here reading my story. I mean, I did totally get shot, that part was correct. And it was really painful. But I just didn't die from it.
It was what the doctors called a flesh wound. That's because it didn't hit any of the bones or stuff inside. The bullet just kind of clipped me on my shoulder really. And then I fainted from the shock, that's why I passed out. Though I've totally got a scar there now, it's nearly two inches long and looks really sick.
But there is so much stuff that has happened since then, I'm not sure where to start. I guess the first thing would be that I'm in the witness protection program. So I've been given a new identity, and I'm not living in New York anymore. I was moved to a small town in Ohio, though I'm not supposed to say the actual name of it. It is really nice here though, so it's not all bad. It's much quieter than New York, and the people are more friendly.
I guess the only downside would be that it is kind of boring here sometimes, compared to how my life was before. That's why I started writing as a hobby. I got the idea from that old woman, Eileen, who I used to live next door to. When she told me about writing a memoir, I decided it would be fun to do the same thing. Just my one is about me and all the stuff that happened to me in this past year.
I wrote it all down, as good as I could remember it. Then I found out about this website called Wattpad where I could publish it. It's a pretty cool site really, though I guess you already know all about that if you are reading this story? I just started an account with my new identity. That's why it says this story was written by someone called Emma Williams, but really it was written by me. Or I guess I am Emma now, at least until the court case is over. It's kind of still confusing to be honest.
The only thing I had to do with the story was change some of the people's names, what with me being in witness protection and all. So like Dominic Salvatore wasn't his real name. I just got the idea for the name from The Vampire Diaries though, as he totally reminded me of Damon Salvatore. It was the brooding look in his eyes, and the fact that he was so hot, just like Damon is in the show.
The other thing was that I have been given a house to live in, rather than my apartment. I do miss my apartment, but I didn't really have a choice about leaving it. But that leads me to one of the other big things that happened. Because it turned out that my dad actually was a big member of that drug gang from Colombia, the government seized all of the properties that he owned. They also took most of the money that he had in his hedge fund thing that he was in charge of. It turned out that most of the money he was investing was actually just money from selling drugs.
All of that means I am not a millionaire anymore, which sucks. I still have some money that's in a trust fund, but nowhere near the amount I had before. Though maybe if this story gets made into a film on Netflix or something, then I'll get loads of money again.
What else? I still see Jay and Maria sometimes. They are getting married in the spring, though I am not sure if I'll be allowed to go to the ceremony as I'll probably still be in hiding. But Jay got a big promotion too after he managed to bring down the whole Salvatore crime family like that. He's now head of the organised crime department.
That's the case I am in witness protection for. They arrested Dominic, and then based on the evidence I found they charged him with tax evasion. But also, because of the stuff he told me before I got shot, he was charged with conspiracy to murder too. Plus the attempted murder for when he told Giulio to shoot me. There were a bunch of other charges too, though I can't remember what they all were right now. But the short version is, he is probably going to spend the rest of his life in jail.
Hopefully when the court case is over I'll be able to go back to my old life. It would be nice to settle down again after all this excitement. Maybe I'll keep writing, as this has been fun.
I have also been seeing a therapist twice a week. It's been helpful to have someone to talk to about all the things I went through. She has been teaching me how to stop blaming myself for everything. I mean, I don't completely agree with her, but it has been helping. I'm sleeping a lot better now, and not having so many nightmares. I have also managed to stop drinking alcohol, which has really improved my health. I started running again too, with her encouragement. I go for some long runs around the farms on the edge of town a few times a week, which is fun. So overall I'm fitter, healthier, and mentally stronger.
But I guess that's the end of my story for now. I hope you enjoyed reading it, and maybe learned something from it. Like not to get mixed up with the Mafia for example.
Anyway, peace out.
Olivia xx.
ps. Also, remember to vote and comment. That always helps with the algorithm. And not just for my story, like in general, vote and comment on everything you read.
pps. And one other thing, don't murder people. Even if they deserve it. It's really bad, and messes you up. Plus it's bad for the person who you killed too. So just in general, try not to kill anyone.
