I DIDN'T HAVE a fucking clue what was happening. One moment everyone was having fun enjoying the high and the next Lexi was going delirious. She'd passed the i'm-a-pathetic-mess-help-me stage and was swaying all over the place, unable to stand properly.

Sure, most people had also let their hair loose but something didn't sit right

I thought back to what Talisa had said about seeing Lexi's true colours later tonight. She couldn't have had anything to do with it, right?

"Let's do the freaking music louder, I can barely hear it! And Talisa, give me another one! I'll pay you back later," Lexi giggled, flicking her long straightened about. A couple of hours ago, it was nicely brushed and by now, it was a mess. I locked eyes with Louisa who was sitting across from me. Logan has his arm wrapped around her waist possessively as she watched Ashlei and Talisa dance with Lexi. Talisa was holding on to her mum's crutches to support her ankle.

The music was already super loud and I could barely hear myself think. God knows what was going on in her brain if she couldn't hear it. Judging by the number of pills she'd been swallowing, I had no idea.

Louisa's dark brown eyes held mine for a few seconds before she quickly looked away uncomfortably and sent a brief signal to Talisa.

The speakers to the room were beside me. After a moment of debate, I shrugged my shoulders before turning it up.

What the hell? I didn't care.

I forced a smirk when Prince elbowed me, signalling to Lexi's dress that had slipped off her shoulder and was sliding down slightly.

Twats didn't know that I'd seen more than that yesterday. If they were getting turned on by that, I pitied them to be frank. Poor souls.

From beside me, I vaguely heard Prince lean towards Arlo and whisper that her inner whore was crawling out. He said something in response and they both began sniggering.

That's when it all kicked off and the secrets came out.

"Bitch! You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Lexi shrieked in her nasal voice at Talisa, who was staring down at her smugly. A huge splash of red wine dripped down from the top of her dress and my eyes fell on Talisa's empty glass.

Was it just me or was Lexi's damn voice getting more annoying every second?

Talisa gave her a fast yet judgemental one over before rolling her eyes tactfully. "Oops. You were getting on my nerves."

I brought my glass to my lips, watching Louisa stand up and walk towards her. "You'll get over it, Lexi. Or shall I say under it, considering the rumours about your wild sex life?" All 6 people in the room burst out into a mixture of giggles, snickers and laughs. "I mean, the principle? And I thought I had guts!" She spoke lightly, venom lacing her voice.

I'd only met the principle once and unless he had miraculously aged younger, he was still a horrid 54-year-old man. I dragged a hand over my face. To think I could have slept with her, just after she'd got it on with him.

Just what I needed.

Ashlei interrupted loudly, "Don't think we missed out on your horrifying attempts to seduce Gabriel tonight." She pulled at her nude painted lips. "Poor boy looked scarred for life." I noticed how she giggled her usual ditzy laugh at the end.

My first impressions of Ashlei were angelic and innocent yet the more time I spent with her, the more I began to think otherwise. "Thankfully, Talisa saved him before you had a chance to sink your talons into him."

"Poor boy? Ouch." I said, sarcastically before I could help it. My lips curled into a smile, "And I thought I was building up that tough, seductive, hottie reputation-"

"Oh shut up Gabriel, you don't know what you're talking about," Louisa snapped at me, her eyes daring me to speak again. I smirked and lifted my hands in defeat. Not before mumbling someone's gotta temper under my breath.

A snarl grew on Lexi's face, the bright blue of her eyes barely visible under her unnaturally dilated pupils. "As if I would ever go after Gabriel tonight, out of choice," she scoffed.

"Sure, he's hot. That's why I kissed him in the school diner when her first came here. But I've already fucked him once and I'm not in the mood for round two. The only reason why I-"

"Not gonna lie. That kinda hurt," I chipped in, raising an eyebrow.

Logan quickly stood up, walking in between the girls. The douche had worn a cream tie to coordinate with Louisa.

Talk about cheese overload.

He looked Lexi dead in the eye as if trying to tell her something. "I think you need to calm down, Lexi. I know you're crazy high but-"

She let out a shriek of anger before he could finish. Her hands were trembling in what I presumed to be fury. Lexi stormed towards Logan and bitterly laughed in his face. "Couple of things. One, I'm not a god damn addict, that's Talisa for your info."

Talisa scowled at her hard. "And two, the only reason you're piping up is that you don't want the deal you made to me to get out in public. Don't think I'm stupid."

At that moment, Louisa's face dropped. "What deal?"

Logan tried to jump in yet the words were already tumbling out of Lexi's mouth. "Logan promised me that if I slept with Gabriel three times, he'd leave you for me."

This time, my face fell.

A few moments of silence passed with nobody wanting to break it. In the end, I did.

"Uh, not gonna lie that's some twisted shit."

Louisa and Logan has relationship problems if this stuff was happening behind each other's back. Oddly, Louisa seemed surprisingly quiet. Judging by her face, she didn't seem angry that her boyfriend was making deals behind her back. She wasn't shocked either. It seemed like her mind was on something else.

A few seconds in silence passed until Lexi broke it, her hands slammed over her mouth.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to say all that. I-I-I'm an idiot. I-"

No shit.

I was too busy thinking about why Logan would even say that to Lexi. Yeah, he seemed like an idiotic prick but that didn't explain too much. He could have easily broken up with Louisa and got with Lexi if that was what he wanted. Why did he have to involve me?

It just didn't quite fit. Unless-

A moment later something in my head clicked and I let out a chuckle. My jaw relaxed as I rested my head back on the sofa, and shut my eyes, allowing the sound of my loud laugh to puncture the empty silence.

You've got to be kidding me.

"You were scared, weren't you? Scared of me," I tested my theory, the look in Logan's face confirming it in seconds.

An arrogant grin laced onto my face as I arched an eyebrow in question. "Threatened that I'd sweep Louisa off her feet and demote you from the great Forteaux king to nothing?" I put the four works in bunny ears, sarcasm leaching my voice.

"Dude, chill out. I haven't even been here a month."

When I first joined, I thought this class hierarchy business was ridiculous yet the longer I stayed, the more I began to realise that it actually held a lot of weight in such affluent families.

Louisa was still quiet. So was everyone else. Bar Logan.

"Shut up, Gabrie-"

Pursing my lips, I took that as a hint to continue. "This way people would think something was going on between me and Lexi so you and Louisa stayed safe. Oh, and most importantly that way the attention and publicity wouldn't slip away from you."

Who on earth actually does strange stuff like this?

"You don't know what you're talking about," he hissed out, in an attempt to silence me. Of course that only encouraged me further.

"Oh really?" I tilted my head to the side finding this crazy amusing. "That's weird. I'm pretty sure I do."

It all kind of made sense. From my first day here, Logan had always been a twat to me and I had no idea why. Now I did. He saw me as competition.

Well that boosts your ego, doesn't it?

The snarl on Logan's face only confirmed my prediction. "Well, you'll be pleased to know I'm not usually one to meddle with relationships."

I swear to God I'd have actually stopped egging him on right then had Logan not flipped me off in response.

Okay that's kinda annoying.

Turning to Louisa, I shot her a wink right in front of him. "That is unless the girl comes to me."

He looked like he wanted to decapitate me.

Yeah let's just blame the overly high testosterone levels on those pills.

"Ah shit, mate. Is this all true?" Prince slurred at Logan, putting his hand on his shoulder. The golden-haired boy angrily shrugged it off before striding towards Lexi. He continued until he was inches away from her face.

"Seems like you don't understand the meaning of the word secret," his eyes were deadly as she shook under his gaze. "You'll pay for this," he spat before strolling out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

Ashlei's heels echoed against the laminate floor as she walked in front of Lexi's face too. "You power hungry idiot. Thought you could get Logan to end it with Louisa and take her place. Dumb bitch."

She left the room too.

Is nobody actually going to pay attention to what Lexi said Logan did?

"You'll never be more than the Academy whore," Talisa hissed causing me to furrow my eyebrows. Sure, I didn't know the full story but that seemed harsh. She hobbled over to Louisa, holding her shoulder and helping her up.

Just before they both left the room too, Talisa added. "So why don't you just carry on popping those pills that you seemed so desperate for? That's all you're good at, right? And don't you ever say I'm an addict again. You've got enough enemies at the moment and you don't want me to be added to that list."

When the door slammed shut for the third time, only Lexi, Arlo, Prince and I remained. Rolling my eyes when neither of them said anything, I walked to Lexi spinning her towards me. "Hey, you alright?"

Her eyes shot up to me, allowing me to take in all the red little veins littering them. She forced a huge grin revealing a full set of pearly teeth, "Yeah, I'm fine. Craving some of these though."

Walking to the pack of pills left on the table, she clutched them in her hand like a lifeline, before swallowing a couple. "I'm gonna go down to the main party. Catch you later."
