The Pretty Pick - 5
"Christ!" Eddie Munson yelled out at the stinging of the antiseptic that the girl in front of him had just smeared over his bloody lip. She didn't stop or pull back just continued to soak up any left over blood and clean out the wound he'd caused with his teeth after being jabbed in the face.
He watched her as she worked, she'd laid her elbow on his exposed knee, her skin touching his. Her intense gaze on his lip.
He tilted his head backward slightly wincing at the sting, she was quick to lift the hand she wasn't using on his lip to the side of his neck, pulling him forward and holding him still, "don't be a baby Edward".
She watched his tongue run over his teeth while her hand wasn't there just briefly, she knew she was staring, he knew she was staring, which was worse.
It made him feel, in control, something he almost never felt when he was around her, her confident façade built too high, always being one step ahead, but now, he had the upper hand because her eyes was drawn to him, not the other way round.
Eddie had always found himself staring at her in school, at lunch, in music. He always watched intently as she played the guitar with wanting eyes. He had almost never been caught.
Eddie knew she was pretty, hell, she was gorgeous.
But, she was one of Jason's lapdogs and that's enough to turn any man away, or so he'd thought.
He heard the harsh swallow from the girl before she put the cloth back over the wound, she was almost done, in fact, she probably was she just liked the idea of seeing him in this state, seeing him at her mercy, doing what she'd told him to do. She believed, despite her slight slip up, she had the upper hand and she would use it.
"There" she smiled dabbing his lip with the cloth one last time, turning to grab a wet wipe she cleaned the dry blood from his chin.
"I could've done all that myself, you know that right?" He laughed watching as she leaned backward the only thing that connected them still was their thighs brushing against each other.
Only for a moment before she abruptly stood up. Clearing her throat as she did.
Eddie stayed sitting on her incredibly comfortable couch, legs spread, hands on his thighs looking up at her and watching as she turned away.
"So, you didn't tell me who's caravan we are in?" She didn't look at him, she'd seen his hands running up and down his thighs as she walked away and didn't want to be caught up in yet another awkward scenario.
"Mine" she didn't explain, didn't elaborate in any way. She hadn't told anyone why she was in a caravan, not even her parents, and she sure as hell was not going to tell Eddie Munson.
He hummed in response.
He didn't push for answers, he knew how well off her family was, knew she could live practically wherever the hell she wanted around here, so, if she was staying here, there was a reason.
She turned around from where she'd stopped at her door with a hand on her hip looking at him, he'd raised a brow in question to her stare.
"Nothing to say?" She'd expected a million questions from her previous answer.
He stood slowly from the couch stretching as he did, T-shirt pulling up ever so slightly, she looked away out of respect but really she was filled with curiosity, what was the Eddie Munson like under his Hellfire.
Then she shook her head quickly to take her mind off the weird subject.
"Nothing to say" he'd repeated her exact words back to her.
"Great, now come on" she was still stood impatiently by the door, again Eddie had no idea what she was referring to, though he usually didn't, "I'm walking you home" she gave him the typical popular girl duh look.
The potential this girl had was incredible and yet she choose Jason and his band of asshats.
He let out a psychotic sounding laugh, "I do not need you to walk me home, I'm the guy here".
"You're the guy? What sexist bullshit" she persisted, that excited him, maybe she did indeed have a backbone, she could fight her own corner, man, he hoped she'd done that with Jason.
He held his hands up defensively, "okay Prince Charming, walk me back to my humble abode".
"Better, now hurry I'd actually like to get to my bed-"
"Bed? It's not even 11, come on now" Eddie couldn't help but interrupt, get to her bed? Surely not. This girl was blowing his mind in every sense of the phrase. She was already nothing like he'd imagined her to be.
Margaret didn't respond, she only stared back at him in annoyance before grabbing a coat to put over her shoulders.
Eddie reluctantly walked over to the girl, feeling as if he wanted to stay, something he very quickly brushed off. She opened the door with a large sarcastic smile spread across her face as she held her hand out, letting Eddie exit first, "your highness" she curtsied as he walked past letting out a giggle as he rolled his eyes.
He stood at the bottom of the stairs waiting for her to lock up, even if his place was 5 minutes away, this is not the type of place you want to leave doors unlocked.
She turned around at the sound of a scream from behind them, turning far too quickly and tripping over the bottom step, this was about to become embarrassingly awkward when she hit the floor.
Except, she didn't.
Her eyes pinched closed as she started to fall and opened slowly at the feeling of two hands grasped around her.
One hand at the top of her rib cage on the right to stop her falling side ways, as she was about to and the other at the back of her left hip. Her eyes met the denim of his vest until they slowly raised further up his neck and face to meet his eyes. Which, for the record we're incredibly wide.
As were hers.
He began to push her back upright with his left hand which had been connected to her right side, moving it shortly after. His other hand however slid up the lay just above her hip. Touching a slither of her skin the was not covered by her top nor her jacket.
"Who's the damsel in distress now?" His voice was low, lower than she'd every heard it. Almost sultry.
"I am no damsel Edward" she retorted back creasing her brows in irritation.
"Oh, I know" a smirk found its way to his face.
He knew damn well she was far from a damsel, sure he'd now saved her twice, once from that pig Thomas, and once from a steep terrifying fall to the grass, but this girl could and would stick up for herself. She always had done, to him at least. He only wished she would to Jason and Thomas.
Her face softened at his tone. His words. Her lips unintentionally parting ever so slightly, but enough to grasp his attention.
Her cheeks were beginning to heat up. She turned her head downward to avoid his noticing, and in doing so her eyes landed on his hand, which was still attached to her.
"Oh shit, my bad" now he sounded awkward, removing his hand from her and stepping backward.
A smile graced those pink lips of hers, even if Eddie couldn't see it, it was there. She cleared her throat yet again, something she actually rarely did, only to cut tension. Something she'd already done twice around Eddie.
Coincidence.
Definitely a coincidence.
She nodded to him to urge him to walk, as she didn't know the way to his caravan. She'd always had a suspicious as she got older that Eddie may not have been as well off as he'd made himself out to be, not that she minded.
In fact, it gave him character.
She'd always feared being a carbon copy of every other rich spoiled girl as she grew up. She tried her best not to be, which is why she took up music, and baby sitting. The only 2 of her hobbies her father allowed her. Luckily, the one he forced on her was in fact one of her favourites, beside the previously mentioned two, reading.
It took her into her own world, a world where she wouldn't be bossed around by her family nor her friends.
Hence her now situation, she'd gotten tired of it, and here she was in a cold and eery caravan park, but still, she felt more herself than ever.
"Uh- this is my place" he grumbled as dug around in his jeans pocket looking for the keys, Margaret watched as his eyes widened slightly before slipping the keys into the lock.
"What?"
"My uncle didn't lock the door again" he muttered. Margaret's eyes looked around them, a car, wait.
"Why is Chrissy's car here?" The words came out quickly, urgently, unlike her. Eddies head flipped around to where Margaret had been looking as confused as she was. Until it hit him.
He'd promised her something stronger earlier today, something she wanted to be a secret and now her friend had seen her car outside his trailer.
Eddie quickly opened to door to escape the girl but she ran after him and into the trailer.
"Are you serious? She had a boyfriend you pig!" Margaret slapped his arm as she yelled at him, what a hypocritical sleaze, she thought. "You're disgusting!".
"Calm down, it's not what you think-" Eddie turned to see Chrissy bolt upright in his living room. Standing eerily still. Margaret noticed before he did, which was the main reason he'd turned his head too.
"What's wrong with her eyes?" Margarets voice quietening significantly as she walked closer.
Her eyes were entirely white.
She looked possessed.
"Chrissy" Eddie spoke up waving a hand in front of her face as he took a few steps towards her. Margaret following closely behind, "hello?" They'd both noticed she was blinking rapidly and unusually. "Chrissy!" Eddie jumped forward slightly in a stupid attempt to scare her back to normal, he only made Margaret jump instead, "hey Chrissy wake up, hey" he waved closer to her face, more nervously this time.
"What's happening?" Margaret whispered.
Eddie began to snap his fingers in front of her face, "hello, Chrissy, hello, hey Chrissy!" After this attempt the lights started flickering, making Margaret jump slightly once again. She'd noticed that Eddie looked just as clueless and scared as she did, he had no idea what happened.
"Time to wake up, hey hello!" Eddie sounded more and more worried as he went on. "Can you hear me? Wake up Chrissy!" Margaret felt weird chills fall all over her body, "Chrissy, wake up! I don't like this Chrissy wake up!" He continued to tell her name and shake her shoulders in any attempt to wake her.
Margaret looked down to avoid staring at her friend in this trance like state, Chrissy was the only one that was in her group that she actually liked, the only reason she could deal with everyone else. She could watch this happen.
Then she noticed Chrissy's feet, were they not touching the ground?
"Eddie" she muttered, Chrissy's feet were definitely not on the floor, she was floating, "Eddie" her voice slightly louder, he was still too focused on her face and shaking her awake, "Edward!" She yelled finally grabbing his attention, "her feet".
Eddie looked down to see Chrissy now floating. His hands dropped from her shoulders and he stepped back.
Margaret moved forward, "Chrissy please" she sounded as if she were about to cry, Eddie had never seen her this way or heard her this way.
Chrissy's body flew up until it slammed against the roof of Eddies trailer, frightening Margaret and sending her backwards into Eddie. Both tumbling down to the floor, her bum placed between his legs and back on his chest. The two breathing rapidly.
Margaret and Eddie both looking up just as Chrissy arm snapped in half, Margaret letting out a whine in fear of what she was seeing.
Both her legs snapping quickly afterward, Margaret turned her head, unable to watch. Eddie noticed this, even with fearing this himself he grabbed her head to pull it into his chest, not allowing her to watch.
Thank god he did because the next thing to go was her jaw, leaving it hung open and dislocated.
Eddie let out a loud yell holding onto Margaret tightly with both arms now, tears running down Margaret's cheeks as he did.
Chrissy's eyes disappeared from their sockets and her eye lids closed over.
Leaving her body to drop quickly to the floor.
The thump making Margaret jump, Eddie as terrified as he was held her keeping one arm around her and one covering her face so she couldn't see what had happened. How distorted Chrissy was.
"I need to phone an ambulance" she whispered up to him, he knew that an ambulance couldn't fix this, but somehow he didn't actually have the heart to tell her, "I'll go run and phone them from my place, don't move okay" she sounded sniffly from the tears but untangled herself from Eddie and made her way out the door before she could see her friends body.
"Shit" she mumbled to the phone that was somehow not working, Eddie would have a phone, she'd do it that way.
She ran as quickly as her legs would take her back to Eddies the place she'd left all but 5 minutes ago, "Eddie my phone won't dial, where's yours?" She began talking to the boy as she pulled open his door. Her eyes fell to the spot on the floor where he'd been.
"Eddie?" She shouted through from having no sight of him where he was.
Running through to his room and bathroom, no sign of him.
Eddie had ran.
Eddie had left her.
