The Pretty Pick - 23

Eddie Munson had done just what she had wanted him to do, just what she'd asked him to do.

He had kissed her.

He had kissed like no one had ever kissed her, a way she knew no one else would ever be able to recreate. It wasn't just the way his lips felt against hers but the way her heart felt full when he did. Her heart had felt empty for years, in fact as long as she could remember.

His hands stayed snug above her hips squeezing and pulling her closer, as close as they could possibly be. Her hands were tangled in his curls.

This was different to the last kiss, the last kiss felt as though it shouldn't have happened, but this felt right, it felt more right than anything else she'd ever done. Eddie had thought the same, he hadn't got much in his life right, except this.

He cared for Margaret, a hell of a lot more than he'd ever admit, but he cared.

He knew that really he always had.

He always would.

Their lips moulded together as if they had been made to fit each other. His fingers pressed into her flesh, the heat roaring through her body every time his rough fingers made contact.

The pair pulled apart to take a breath, Margaret had kept her eyes closed initially until she realised Eddie hadn't started kissing her again.

Her heart pounded thinking he was going to do the same as before, she almost convinced herself not to open her eyes. To live in this moment as long as she possibly could, to not ruin it.

But she did open her eyes. She opened them to find his already studying her face. His eyes were dilated and lingering on her own. He smiled, not smirked, he smiled at her. He smiled with her.

Eddie had noticed her brows creasing ever so slightly.

"Is everything okay?" She spoke gently as one of her hands slid down to lay delicately on his chest, her other staying around his neck.

He let out a small giggle, a deep one at that.

One of his hands lifted slowly until it made contact with her jaw, watching as her eyes fluttered shut briefly at the warmth of his hand. His eyes stayed on her, watching as hers opened, looking up blissfully to meet his.

"So beautiful" he spoke in a low tone, it was quiet, but enough so she could hear. A whisper.

The blush on her cheeks made her that much more perfect.

God she was the most beautiful girl he'd ever laid eyes on, he'd never understood her, all those years, but now he did. Not only did he understand her but, he understood himself.

He knew what he needed.

He needed her.

"You think so?" She smiled up, leaning into his hand.

"Baby I know so" he ran a thumb down her bottom lip, letting it fall back to its parted position straight after, "do you want this?" He figured he had to be sure, he didn't want this to mean something different to her, "do you want me?" He added, to confirm exactly what he was asking.

He wasn't asking if she wanted to kiss him and kiss him alone. He was asking if she wanted him, and all his flaws along with it.

Of course she did, her hand came up to find his jaw, mimicking his position.

Ready to tell him how she felt.

"Of c-" she paused snapping her head to the right, Eddies eyes went from loving to concerned within a matter of seconds, "someone's here" she whispered, the hand that was on Eddies chest scrunching the fabric of his denim vest.

Eddie looked toward the closed door, headlights could be seen from the small gap beneath it.

Someone was here.

God he hoped it was Steve and he couldn't believe he was saying that.

The pair untangled themselves from each other. Margaret stepping forward slightly, listening as one set of feet stomped towards the door.

She felt Eddies hand link with hers, accepting his gesture.

The door flew open, and Margaret's heart went from being full to dropping. She instinctively squeezed Eddies hand.

An older man walked through, Eddie strained his eyes slightly to focus on who this man was. Although from Margaret's reaction of stumbling backward until her back hit chest, dropping his hand gave him an idea.

It was her father.

"Dad" she tried to speak confidently but it hadn't worked, "did you follow me here?" Again, she tried her best to sound self assured but she hadn't yet again. Her voice was shaking the same way her hands had been.

Her father let out a wicked sort of laugh.

Eddies hand lifting to run over her arm slightly, in some lame attempt to calm her.

"You're helping this.. criminal" her father shot a hand out staring directly at Eddie.

Margaret took a step forward, "he is not a criminal"

Eddie looked back to her, she was sticking up for him, to her father. Who he'd gathered recently was not a good person and wouldn't hesitate to hurt her.

"You will come with me Margaret, and you will be taught discipline" he shook his head stepping closer to his daughter, "teach you not to help criminals like Edward Munson" the way he'd said Eddies name made it sound awful, like he was indeed a criminal.

"I'm staying right here" she turned to take a quick look at Eddie, "with Eddie"

"Not to worry my dear" Sara ask dripping from his tone, "I've brought a few friends who will take care of him".

The pairs brows furrowed, that was until they saw three younger men stepping into the boat shed.

Jason.

"No" Margaret looked to Jason, "Chrissy wouldn't want you to do this" she held a hand up in defence, "I promise you that".

For a brief moment she could've sworn she seen some type of remorse on Jason's face, as if he almost didn't want to do this.

"Jason informed me of your recent antics, told me you had to be put down, and that's exactly what I'll do if I have to Margaret" her father had grabbed her by the wrist.

Eddie stepped forward to stop him but Margaret had been one step ahead, not that he would be surprised.

Her free hand made contact with his chest, forcefully pushing him backward into the small speed boat, leaning down as quickly as she could and started it, whizzing out into the lake and away from Jason.

"You silly girl!"

Jason had already jumped in, swimming after him. His friends doing the same.

Margaret was yanked out the boat shed.

Taking her chance at her fathers loosened grip when trying to open the car door. Snatching her hand away from him and making a run for it.

Straight into the wooded area.

Listening as he yelled after her, following her and intent on catching her.

All she could do was run, suppose the cheerleading practice did help for some things stamina wise. She continued to run, trying to get her father as far away from Eddie as possible.

Hoping he'd get back to the shed unscathed and be able to make a run for it to her car.

She was used to this with her father, that didn't mean Eddie should be too.

She reached down to the smaller clip on walkie talkie she had bought for herself and Dustin, so she could contact him without everyone else hearing through their big talkies in regards to Eddie.

She lifted it to her lips, pressing the button, "Dustin" she spluttered already sounding slightly breathless, "we have some serious shit going on here" no response, all she could do was help he had heard her, "me and Eddie" she confirmed sucking in a deep breath and continuing her slowing run, "lovers lake, Jason is here" she turned her head, her father had still been on her trail, "so is my father".

It sounded pathetic and she knew it, warning him of her father as if she were a scared young girl.

She was and she always had been.

"Margaret" Dustins voice came through, even if it was breaking up, she couldn't run any longer, she had to stop, to breathe. She came to a large stoned structure, "lovers lake?" He wanted her to confirm but all she could focus on was her father being 5 foot in front of her, "god dammit" Dustin yelled, she dropped the walkie.

"Jason is a good young man" her father started, straightening his blazer and tie.

Margaret let out a harsh scoff.

"He will do what is right" her brows now creased at her father cryptic words, "do what must be done to keep the people of Hawkins safe" now he wasn't being so cryptic.

Margaret shook her head, "no".

"He lost Chrissy, he wants to bring justice for her, just as you should've done" her father let out a low, harsh laugh, "you didn't give a shit about her, no, if you did you'd want the same justice Jason does"

Margaret ran forward, "don't you dare" she yelled, she had never really yelled at her father much. Only once before now, which did not end well, "I loved Chrissy, I do love Chrissy" she felt the tears fill at the thought of her fathers implications.

"If you did you wouldn't be hiding with her killer" he knew what he was doing, he knew exactly what he was doing, getting a reaction.

"Eddie didn't kill her!" She yelled pushing her hands into her father chest only to have him grab her wrists, "I would know, I was there!" She squirmed trying to release herself.

"You were there and you didn't help her?" He squeezed tighter, "you are even more pathetic than I thought"

He had now let her go, something that had entirely confused the girl, that was until his hand collided harshly with her cheek. So hard that she had found herself on the ground.

Looking up at the man who terrified her.

"Tell me, how did Edward kill her?"

"He didn't" she muttered, "it was this town that killed her, it was the evil bred by people like you" she tried being cryptic as he had done.

"Edward Munson is the only evil here-" she hadn't been looking at him any longer, until he had stopped speaking suddenly, letting out a breathless sound, as though he was choking.

Her head snapped upward to find his hands around her neck, gasping for air.

"Help me" his words came out empty, eyes filling up as he dropped to his knees. He wheezed.

He was choking, she didn't know how or why. All she could do was scoot backwards, watching as he clawed one hand out trying to grab her leg.

She knew she should help but she couldn't.

She just couldn't bring herself to.

Had he choked on his own righteousness? She hadn't known how this had happened.

Maybe she should help him.

She should help him.

He was her father.

She couldn't stop her mind running, that was until her soul felt like it left her body at the sight of her fathers head snapping forcefully to the left leaving his neck snapped and body limp, thumping on the ground lifelessly.

Her mouth lay open and her eyes continued to flicker open and closed.

Unsure if she had dreamt this.

Was this Vecna?

She couldn't think of any other way that this could've happened. It was quite literally impossible, it went against any sort of reality. There was no way his head could just snap to the side and break his neck.

Maybe he was just trying to frighten her.

He couldn't really have just died before her eyes.

Her breath hitched in the back of her throat as she crawled towards her father, wary to touch him, unsure if he'd jump up and grab her.

If this was some elaborate way of scaring her into behaving.

She lifted her hand to look for a pulse, aware of just how much her hand was shaking mid air. How much it was shaking when it came into contact with the cold skin at the top of his neck. Pushing in slightly looking for a pulse.

Removing it quickly after to find the pulse point in his wrist.

She pushed in yet again.

Dropping that hand while the other covered her mouth as she sucked in needed breaths after feeling that all air left her in one fell swoop.

"Margaret" the exasperated voice found her.

Lifting her head the tears spilled over her water line, running down her cheeks while she removed her hand from her mouth.

Her chest raising and falling erratically.

"Eddie" she whispered as he made his way to her, looking utterly terrified, even if he pushed away after finding her the way he had.

She hadn't noticed that he was soaking wet.

She had began to stand, Eddie helping her as he reached her, putting his hands on her cheeks, looking down at their feet.

"He's dead".
