The Pretty Pick - 22
"I don't want to be fucking friends Mar!"
Margaret had to play his words on a loop inside her head, he either meant he wanted more, or - more likely - he didn't like her at all.
She shook her head stiflingly out a laugh, knowing if she didn't she might just break down there and then.
Eddie turned back to look at her when he'd heard the unhumorous sound fall from her lips. It didn't take her long to push herself off the wooden shed and step forward.
"Screw you Munson" she practically spat out, "you told me we were friends" she emphasised again, "what have you just been using me for safety this whole time?" She shook her head again.
This was when he realised she'd picked him up entirely wrong.
Eddie ran his hand over his very frustrated looking face, noticing how dark it had become so quick. The moon shone the most angelic light onto Margaret's face as she stood there, hand out waiting for any kind of response.
"Using you?" Eddie repeated her words to ensure he'd heard her correctly, "you think I'm using you?"
All Eddie knew was that if anyone was using the other it was her using him, she had kissed him like no one else had kissed him before, she had been cold with him ever since and now, now she was jealous, there had been no other way to describe it.
She was jealous that he was close to someone else.
He was right, she had been jealous, but more than anything she'd been hurt.
She knew Eddie said they were friends but she hadn't thought he would be like this, this was the type of thing Jason would do. In fact he very well had about 2 years ago when Chrissy told him she needed a break and two days later he was making out with some other girl right in front of her.
The thought of Eddies hatred for Jason when he acted just like him started to fuel a fire in her she hadn't known she had.
"You know what's funny?" She let out a small chuckle, looking up to find Eddie giving her the what is it face, "you hate Jason, despise him even" Eddie nodded in agreement as she spoke, "and yet you're. just. like. him."
That stung.
That really fucking stung.
Eddie wanted to run, he wanted to leave her and not look back, and yet he couldn't. Instead he only found himself stepping closer to her.
Margaret who had just pushed herself from being flat against the side of the boat she'd now found her back firmly pressed against it once again, Eddie stood a mere two steps away from her.
Looking furious.
"You think I'm like him?" Eddie asked sounding as though he was trying to calm himself, his voice came out like a seductive whisper, but she could hear the anger in his voice ready to burst out, "you think I'd hurt you? Or get my goons to do it for me?" Only Eddie hadn't realised he had hurt her, not physically of course, emotionally.
Twice.
"You're delusional" Margaret looked up as she spoke to him, spiteful words leaving her pretty plump lips, "you think you haven't hurt me?"
Eddies brows creased slightly, a change in his previously stern face.
Then his eyes widened ever so slightly remembering why she hated him so much in the first place. Chrissy.
"That was a mistake and I've been paying for it since" he tried to defend himself, shaking his head as he did, knowing how fucked up it was. Margaret had been shaking her head too.
"Yea? And what about when you kissed me?" Eddie hadn't quite known what to say to that, how could he have hurt her by kissing her.
Had she really hated it that much?
"I hurt you because I kissed you?" He was questioning her.
She shook her head looking down.
"You really don't get it do you?" She muttered unable to meet his gaze, which seemed to be more intense than usual.
"No, I don't" he put one of his hands on the wood behind her, "so explain it to me", leaning closer to her, "help me understand, make me get it"
She let out a small not humorous chuckle looking up but still refusing to meet his eyes.
"You told me we were friends" her tone was quieter, almost a whisper, "that was your choice" she looked to the side, "not mine". She let out a laugh again this time it only sounded hollow and sad, "I was just naive enough to think you didn't do that to every girl you came into contact with"
"Do what?"
"Kiss them the way you kissed me" her voice sounded as if it were about to break before she cleared her throat, straightening her posture as she did.
She slid out from being between him and the wall and opened the door to the boat shed, knowing that he'd followed her in.
She had walked over to a metal bench, taking a look at all the tools that scattered across it.
Eddies hand found it's way around the top of her arm, turning her to face him, watching as her head tilted and her facial express only showed confusion.
"You can't just walk away from me after that" he didn't sound as sad as he'd looked moments prior, "you think I wanted to be friends after that?" He watched as her eyes turned into a glare, meeting his, "Fine. You want the truth Margaret Sawyer?"
He had emphasised her first and surname, just to remind her of how different the pair actually were.
Her being a Sawyer and him a Munson.
He dropped her arm, stepping so close that her chest was inches from his.
"I wanted to please you until you seen stars" he lifted his fingers to move a fallen strand of her tucking it behind her ear. Her eyes widening and mouth parting at the shook from his words, "if Henderson hadn't interrupted we wouldn't have stopped, we wouldn't continued until you couldn't go a day with out my touch, until I was the only man who could ever please you again" his same fingers finding her chin, keeping her gaze, "I don't want to be friends Margaret"
She went to speak but at first nothing had came out.
His rougher fingertips felt divine on her skin.
"What do you want then?" Her brow raised, challenging him, "you want a fuck buddy? Because that would not be me"
Eddie let out a seducing laugh, giving her a brief smile afterwards.
"Do you like me Mar?" She hadn't quite known how to answer him, she hadn't quite known the answer herself.
She swallowed harshly.
"Do you want me to lie to you?" She decided to hint at her not liking him in hopes he wouldn't push and she wouldn't have to admit her feelings to him.
Only Eddie knew better.
"Yes, lie to me as if I'd believe every word" he stepped closer so that her chest touched his, with its rapid rising and falling.
Her eyes met his, an urge of need filling her. A need for Eddie.
"Fine" she would lie to him if he wanted her to lie, "I hate you" that made him smile, his hands found either side of her face pulling her towards him, lips inches apart.
Margaret was itching for him to kiss her, to touch her more.
Her hand found itself on his chest, simply to hold her steady, because hood God did he make her feel unsteady.
Margaret felt the cold metal bench behind her making contact with her warm skin as he got closer, one of her hands clutched onto the edge of the bench the other still on his chest.
"Why should I believe you?" She whispered trying to hold back the desire for him.
Eddie took a quick look down her body taking in everything. A stare that intensified when he found her eyes again.
"Why would I lie?" He countered.
"Why would you get with some girl you've never met outside a diner?" She watched as the smirk grew on his lips at her quick response, "thats the type of thing Jason would do" she taunted, noting that it hadn't effected him as much this time as it had the last, he simply knew she didn't mean what she was saying, she only wanted answers.
"Then tell me, what does Jason like?" He cooed in her ear waiting to go against whatever she had said.
She hadn't totally understood why he'd asked what he had but she'd answer all the same.
"He likes his women weak and quiet, besides Chrissy of course" hence the reason the took their break, she had too much of an opinion on life that he didn't like, "that's what most men like" she confirmed a smile finding her own lips.
Eddie pushed himself even closer to her, the fronts of their bodies pressed tightly to one and other.
"Not me" he whispered leaning down to her ear, planting one sweet kiss just below her ear lobe, my god this man knew what he was doing.
"No?" She began to play along.
"I like them stubborn and bitchy" he let out a low chuckle afterwards.
She had thought he was joking at first but he wasn't, Eddie liked a girl with something to her, someone who wouldn't just act a certain way for a guys attention. A girl who was her own person. Someone who was stubborn and set in their ways. The bitchyness was just a turn on.
Margaret let out a blissful hum of laughter, "so what, you like bratty girls?" She tried to joke with him.
A smile did appear but his intensity stayed.
"Are you bratty?" His thumb found her chin again, tilting her head up so she looked directly at him. Knowing she'd specifically averted her gaze multiple times.
"Of course I am" a smirk played on her own lips now.
"Then yes" he concurred, "I do like bratty girls" Margaret could've sworn her heart had started beating out of her chest right there and then.
She hadn't expected this from Eddie Munson, the sheer confidence he had now radiated, while toying with her. He loved it, the back at forth, Margaret was the only girl who'd bite back and boy did he love a biter.
His hands quickly found her hips, resting atop of them. She could feel the warmth through the shirt covering her torso.
Sliding down to find the top of her jeans, his pointer fingers slipping into the belt loops to pull her even closer, as close as physically possible, her groin tight near his.
Margaret had noticed how his eyes flickered between her eyes and lips, "what are you thinking about?" She asked, not sure if he'd even tell her, or let her in to what was going on in that lovely head of his.
"You"
"Then what's wrong?"
His eyes finding hers, staying there this time.
"Nervous" his answer was short and sweet, but a response nonetheless.
"Why would you be nervous around me?" A blissful giggle left her lips as she spoke, Eddie finding himself more relaxed as she melted into him.
"Well" he leaned forward, "I really want to kiss you, but I'm not sure you want the same thing" his voice came out with a mix of concern and seductiveness.
She lifted her hands to his jaw, rubbing her thumbs gently across his skin.
"Maybe you should take the risk and find out then" her answer hadn't been a question, although it had sounded that way.
She really just wanted him to kiss her.
