Chapter Two

When we arrived at our destination, the driver stepped out and opened the door before I could. I silently thanked him as I strode up to the house. When everyone was by the door, the driver drove off.

"Welcome to our new home." my father said as he pushed opened the door which creaked as loud as nails on a chalkboard.

I dropped my bags to the floor as I scanned around the house. It was a beautiful two storey house, quite big actually. I could've mistaken it for a mansion. Everywhere was painted in white. Marble tiles lined all around in the spacious living room and in the kitchen, which was already stocked with pots and utensils, a great advantage for my mother.

Climbing up the stairs, I walked along the hallway, peeking into every room which was quite the same: a queen size bed in the center, a table with a computer in the corner next to a bookshelf, a drawer with a standing mirror next to it and a closet.

As I continued to walk, there was a room that caught my attention. It was the same as the others but it was painted in a peach colour and had its own bathroom. But what really got my eye was there was a balcony connected to it. I gasped when I saw the sight in front of me. A brick wall.

I chuckled to myself. It was actually the backyard where there was this huge tree in the middle and pool and a few benches. Nothing extravagant.

"I choose this room! " I shouted as I fall back against the bed. The bed felt so comfy that my eyes closed instantly, making the darkness take over.

When I woke up, the sun was setting and the sky was a magnificent shade of pink. After I finished fixed up my room, I headed down the stairs and entered the kitchen. My mom was setting the table. Just looking at the food, made my mouth water.

"Whatever you're cooking mom, smells heavenly. "

She chuckled softly, "Indeed, Now call your father and your brother down. Dinner is ready."

When we all settled down, we ate in silence, only the clinking of the plates could be heard between us.

"Well," my dad said, cutting the silence with a knife, "Tomorrow is the big day. "

"Yeah." we could only say because we were too busy chomping down the lasagna to make any small talk.

The silence couldn't be more thick. I wasn't really excited to go to a new church tomorrow because it happens all the time and my excitement wore thin to the point where I really don't care.

Fifteen minutes later, nothing had been said between us as I started picking at my food. Tired of the silence, I excused myself and headed towards my bedroom. I plopped myself unto my bed as I stared at the ceiling. I thought about how my life will be now. California is known for its mysteries. I hope it doesn't lead me down the wrong directions. I shuffled to my side.

Lost in my thoughts, I didn't hear the door open and felt my bed dipped. My mom stroked my hair. She must've thought I was sleeping because she whispered in a barely audible voice.

"Honey, I love you so much and I hope you keep your head straight. Please promise me that you'll try hard to keep yourself from bad company. We don't want another mishap like last time," memories flood into my mind as I shuddered. She must have felt it because her hands ceased in my hair.

"Please." she whispered skakily,"Dear God, please protect her and guide her with your light. Amen." she added.

After that, she got up, kissed me on my forehead and left the room, closing door leaving me and my thoughts in the darkness, alone.

This was just a filler chapter. Not really interesting. Next update will give more insight on her past. So stay tuned! If there are any tips you want to give me you can message me. And if you are good with making covers, I would be delighted if you can make one for me. :)
