Chapter Six
Well damn.
This is the end. This person is going to rape me and then dispose my body in the lake behind the house.
I'm such an idiot.
Devil: You can say that again.
What? You're the one that made me come here in the first place!
Devil: Well you should have listened to Angel! She's always right.
Angel: See. I told you so. Those who don't listen shall feel.
I stumbled backwards as I was being pulled forcefully in the woods-like backyard, the cold night wind flew past which caused goosebumps to raid my skin.
Suddenly I started pray :
Dear God, I know I haven't prayed to you for ages but I'm so sorry. I've been a bad girl but please forgive me! I'm too young to die. Please give me one more chance, dear God. Please. I'll make it up to you.
I was at the back of the mansion by now nearing the oh so cliché lake in the backyard. My killer, not slowing it's pace but actually increasing their step.
I can't believe that these stupid teenagers are not seeing me get pulled away to my death.
A tear slipped from eyes and landed on my cheek.
No. This is not how this is going to end. Not without a fight.
I grounded my foot in the grass leaving a trail of soil. This lessened the grip on my rapist and I took that as an opportunity and slid my foot under his leg.
The person let go of me and soon as that happened I spun around pushed him into a nearby rose bush. A girl-like shriek followed right after.
Wait what?
I cautiously took a step towards the source, my hands balled up in a fist ready to attack, when suddenly Sarah stumbled out from the bushes. She fell to the floor by my feet, panting heavily.
"What the hell?"
"God, are you part wrestler or something?" She groaned. "Remind me to never get on your bad side again."
"I thought I was going to get killed! Don't ever do that again."
"Noted." She sighed and we started to head back to the party.
"You're talking about me as a wrestler? I thought you were a dude! Where did you get those man hands from?" I questioned.
A soft laugh escaped her mouth as she grinned at me," Would you believe I go to self defence classes?"
"Really? Why?"
Suddenly her smile vanished and a pained expression flashed across her face. She covered it up quickly and changed the topic.
"I like the fact that you were almost kidnapped and killed yet you're so calm and relaxed," she mused.
I rose my eyebrows at her change of mood but still replied, "I've been through worse."
This time Sarah rose her eyebrows questioningly but I brushed it off quickly, avoiding her calculating gaze.
The music was still blasting loudly and everyone were still enjoying their time like they never saw me being pulled away to my death a few minutes ago. So sweet.
Sarah headed straight towards the bar while I nervously trailed behind her like a lost puppy.
She winked at the guy behind the counter and he smirked in response. The hell kind of sign language is that?
A greenish like liquid was poured into a cup -which smelt worse than inside of a decayed garlic loving cat- and the purple haired demon thrusted it towards me.
"Oh hell no," I deadpanned.
"C'mon Eva," she bumped hips with me, "live a little!"
I felt like all the wind was knocked out of my body. My throat closed up and my eyes started to burn.
Just by that one line.
********
"Live a little!" Noah slurred, as he entered a vehicle with four other drunktards. "Come with us!"
"I don't believe thats a great idea," I muttered. The cold night breeze flew past and I tugged on my jacket for extra warmth.
"What? It's a great idea! Stop being a little church girl and get inside!"
Oh, you don't even know.
"Are you insane? I'm only fifteen while you're sixteen and drunk going in a vehicle with intoxicated college guys!"
He furrowed his eyebrows and stared at me like I was speaking another language.
"Well you're loss. I'm not coming back to the party so make sure you get a ride home."
I stared at him in disbelief as he slammed the door shut. The engine roared to life.
He pulled down the window and said his final words, "When life gives you lemon, you make orange juice and left the world wondering how it was done."
I rolled my eyes.
He gestered his fingers to make me come closer. I followed suite ready to punch him in the face, when he placed a sloppery kiss on my forehead and whispered," "Be safe."
I watched as the car drove off, all the guys hollering in the vehicle as Noah poked his head out of the sun roof shouting, "See you on the flip side baby!" And then the car was out of sight.
What a douchebag!
My parents were still at prayer meeting so I called a cab to get home.
It was the next morning when it happened.
While I was eating some frosted flakes, my father turned on the television in the kitchen.
"Breaking News! In the city of Atlanta, there was a fatal accident which occured last night around minutes to 12 am. Four college and one high school student were driving a red mustang where the driver wreklessly drove into a pole. It was identified that they were all drunk. Which left one dead and four critically injured. More information will be coming up right after the break so stay tuned."
I felt my heart dropped to my stomach.
*********
After days of reasearch, fortunately, it wasn't Noah who died. But the impact gave him a concussion which later lead him to permanent memory loss. I believe he's in a coma till this day.
He was a great guy, very poetic also and was the only person who took notice of me.
I was extremely sad and finding out gave me a feeling that it was my fault. I was the one who told him about the party. I should've stopped him from entering the vehicle.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
Him calling my name will sometimes haunt my mind, maybe till the day I die.
"Evana..."
There it is again.
"Evanaa..."
Why does his voice sounds so feminine?
"EVANA!"
I snapped out my daze and stared down at Sarah. The cup still in her hand while the other her hip. An impatient look flashed across her face.
"Huh?" I inquired sheepishly, embarassed that I was so deep in thought.
"Girl, what were thinking about? You know what? Nevermind. Do you want the drink or not?"
I stared at the drink then eyed Sarah, then stared at the drink again, contemplating like if its a life and death situation.
"Nah, I think I'll pass," I grimaced.
"Well you're loss," she said as she gulped down the drink in seconds. She shook her head from the shock and rest the cup down.
"Come let's go and dance!" She blinked a few times before grasping my hand and pulled me inside the house.
Dynamite was playing when I entered. Everyone was dancing and having fun while the only thing on my mind is to get out of this hell hole.
The song suddenly changed to an upbeat latin music and everyone started to form into a conga line. I was forcefully pushed behind someone and strong arms rested heavily on my shoulders.
Laughter and cheers filled the air as everyone started moving around the gigantic livingroom, swaying and kicking their feet out to the beat.
After five painfully long minutes, the song was done and everyone separated.
I limped towards the sofa and sat down sighing in relief. I closed my eyes for a few seconds only for them to be snapped back open realizing that man hands Sarah was not in sight.
Great.
