The Ungrateful Undead

3rd POV
Sunder was jumping from rooftop to rooftop, she'd had a falling out with her mum so she had decided to go on patrol early, taking the western side of the city. As she swung through the city she heard what sounded like a band playing heavy metal and made her way in the direction of the song. She finally stopped when she saw a group of people playing in what looked like an abandoned warehouse covered in graffiti. Sunder listened closely as they played and found herself humming along with the singer. Once they'd finished playing Sunder swung herself into the building and said, "Great set mates, totally metal, but I'm not really sure if it's legal for you to be here." Her statement was met by a string of jeers along with the scattered shouting of "NARC!" Sunder didn't pay them any mind, after all it was her job to protect the people of this city, whether she was popular or not. Then the singer, a tall girl with dyed red hair and almond shaped blue eyes, walked over and handed Sunder a piece of paper. Sunder unfolded it and revealed a permit.
"We've got a gig here coming up in a couple days so we were practicing for it, making sure we were adjusting to the acoustics right all that." She explained and Sunder nodded as she looked around. She'd been where this band was quite a couple times, practicing at every possible volume for insane amounts of time hoping to find that one perfect volume.
"Hey..... if you want it'd be really great for you to come, I mean I can't even imagine how awesome it would be to have a real superhero show up at our first gig..." the singer said nervously handing Sunder a flyer with the words 'Flying Serpents' printed on it with a winged snake in the background, earning a few jeers from the rest of the band.
"Oh shut up you guys so what if I'm a fan?!" She yelled back at them earning a shocked expression from Sunder. 'I...... have a fan...?' She thought numbly as a feeling of excitement began to bubble up inside her.
"Ahem, sorry about my friends, they're all idiots. I'm Kimi, big fan by the way." The singer said turning back to her and Sunder blushed slightly as she shook her hand.
"That would make you the first." Sunder admitted with a half smile. Kimi shrugged and said, "They'll come around. I mean Paris just isn't really used to having three superheroes yet, as soon as everyone gets used to it they'll figure out how awesome you are." She shot her a grin and Sunder felt butterflies multiplying in her stomach.
"Well I've got to meet up with my teammates to touch base about patrol but I'll see you at the show! A couple days right?" She asked hurriedly earning an excited but confused nod from Kimi before she raced out of the warehouse and away thinking 'I HAVE A FAN!'
(Time skip to a few days later)
"Okay spill! You've been all over the place for the past like, three days! What happened and why haven't you told us yet?!" Bridgette yelled giving Stella a pointed glare. In the time since the Rabidfan incident Bridgette and Stella had officially become best friends and now that Stella was randomly acting like she was on top of the world for no apparent reason Bridgette was not having it. Jacques and Aisling chuckled as they watched their friend be interrogated.
"I'd tell her if I was you, when she starts giving out like that there's only really one way things can go." Aisling said as she ate a scoop of ice cream. The four of them had decided to stop by Ivan's cart after school and Stella had turned bright red after getting her Rockin Raspberry which prompted Bridgette to finally snap.
"I recently met a new fan who was really cool." Stella explained trying to brush off her blush. Bridgette growled at the dismissal but Aisling's hand appeared on her arm and she quickly shook off her annoyance.
"Well we're glad you've been so happy lately." Aisling said with a small smile. The others nodded as she shot them looks denoting that they should leave off on making fun of their blushing friend.

(Meanwhile)
"W-wait what do you mean we won't be getting paid for this gig?" Kimi asked a cold, numb void filling her.
"You heard me twerp! You're lucky to even be allowed to open for us, enjoy the exposure because it's all you're going to get." Hissed the manager of the band that the Flying Serpents were opening for. The manager then shoved her out of the way and made his way to the makeshift stage. Kimi gripped her guitar pick as tears pricked her eyes. She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the small blue feather that disappeared into the pick.
"Oh how cruel it is to put so much work into art only to have it be snatched away from you on nothing but exposure." A voice drawled from out of nowhere. Kimi started and dropped her pick out of fear as she recognized Khaos' voice. However a white gloved hand closed around the pick before it could hit the ground.
"Now I'm going to do you the favor of turning everyone in the city into your mindless fans, and in return you're going to go find your feckless heroes and lead them back here, to me." Stated the tall blue clad sentimonster in front of her as he rolled the pick in between his fingers. Kimi backed up, slamming her back into a large, scaly surface. She slowly turned and looked up at what was behind her and SCREAMED.

(Meanwhile)
Sunder was sitting impatiently, waiting for her friends to show up so that they could start patrol when she looked down and saw a group of people moving slowly in the same direction, muttering something as a collective group. 'What on....?' She dropped down off of the rooftop and took a step forward preparing to approach a straggler from the group.
"Hey, something interesting going on?" Sunder asked reaching a hand out to touch the middle aged woman's shoulder only to have her whip around and take a swipe at her just as a void opened beneath Sunder's feet as a familiar voice called out, "SHITESHITESHITE WATCH OUT!" Sunder fell into the exitless void with an undignified but thematic squeak and was quickly met with a stressed looking Ladybird and a traumatized Miss Fortune. Miss Fortune was curled up with her knees to her chest, rocking back and forth and muttering, "Zombies why'd it have to be Zombies?" Meanwhile Ladybird paced, ripping his fingers through his hair.
"Can someone please explain what that just was?!" Sunder asked recalling the woman who had just attacked her's yellow, slit pupiled eyes and the hissing sound she'd made when she went in for the attack.
"Zombies." Her teammates responded both pausing only briefly.
"'Zombies'? What do you mean 'ZOMBIES'?!" She asked beginning to panic at the thought.
"We were on our way to meet up with you when this girl came running up to us, claiming that she knew you with these weird looking bite mark things on her neck or shoulder, couldn't really tell, she said she'd been amokitized and that Khaos was at the venue for her gig. She said you'd know what she meant, then she doubled over before straightening and hissing at us, she-she had these crazy fangs and-and-" Miss Fortune broke off shuddering and hyperventilating. Ladybird froze in his frantic pacing, his face softening as he knelt down next to his partner, pulling her into a hug.
"It's okay Kitten, we're fine, we're all here and we're safe. How about you detransform and charge back up, we're going to need all of the fast exits we can get if we're going to get through this." He murmured into her hair as she nuzzled into him, her tail puffed up and her ears flattened with terror.
"Is she alright?" Sunder asked as Miss Fortune detransformed and Plagg retrieved a wedge of cheese from Aisling's purse. She nuzzled closer to Ladybird as he continued to cradle her, petting her hair affectionately.
"This isn't our first Zombie run in, about a week after we got started as heroes Marinette and Miss Bourgeois' former teacher got reakumitized into an Akuma called 'Zombizou'," Aisling and Plagg both hissed in fear, Plagg's ears flattening as Aisling curled even further into her partner's chest. Ladybird tightened his grip on her, muttering an apology before continuing, "We barely made it through the fight. Zom- ahem, the Akuma zombified the entire city, we only got through because Lucky had a brilliant idea."
"Washn't that shmart." Aisling murmured, her voice muffled by the material of Ladybird's suit. Sunder, Plagg, and Ladybird all chuckled at her response.
"What did you do?" Sunder asked giving her teammates a small smile. Her smile widened into a grin as the two of them shared a look and separated quickly, blushes spreading across their faces.
"It was SO GROSS!!!" Plagg yelled as he finished his cheese, completely ignorant to the protestations of the two teenagers as they tried to get him to stop explaining.
"The kid here realized that she had some lipstick in the same shade as the Akuma so she detransformed and put it on before transforming again and handing it over to bugboy over here. Then the two kissed and started acting like the zombies, when the Akuma went to take their miraculous they took her lipstick and took her down." Plagg explained fake gagging. Before he could get another word out Aisling transformed and began muttering darkly about confiscating all of the Kwami's cheese later.
"So you two kissed?" Sunder asked with a teasing smile. Her teammates faces exploded with color and they both began to protest against any ideas she might get.
"Only on the cheek and hand okay?! We just wanted to be able to get through the crowd without being attacked! I saw it in a movie once okay?!" Ladybird explained feverishly, sharing avoiding glances with Miss Fortune who's tail was thrashing behind her.
"Okay, okay I believe you, but what's the plan now? We can't really pass ourselves as the zombies this time around." Sunder said biting her lip.
"The girl said something about a venue, you have any idea what she might have meant?" Miss Fortune asked, a clear edge to her voice as her tail continued to thrash. Sunder paused for a minute before gasping.
"Kimi! She must have meant the warehouse where her band was doing a gig!" She exclaimed in horror. Ladybird and Miss Fortune shared a confused look before prompting her to elaborate.
"So you remember that fan I mentioned? Well she's my fan as SUNDER not Stella, she's in a band called the Flying Serpents and I met them all at the venue for a gig they were preparing for. It's this big abandoned looking warehouse on the western side of the city." Sunder explained frantically.
"I think I know what you're talking about, we went to a party there a little while ago." Miss Fortune said her ears flicking nervously.
"One problem, once we're in we're going to need to figure out how to get the object without being Zombified that doesn't involve hurting the civilians, not to mention we'll probably have to deal with a Khaos clone again too." Ladybird said sinking into his planning mode.
"I can deal with NotKhaos, Birdie you stay high up and use your shield when you need to, meanwhile Mini you focus on getting the object, if you use your Multitude you can probably get past everything without worrying about getting caught." Miss Fortune said her eyes sparking with nervous determination. Ladybird snapped out of his planning mode and shot her a look that Sunder couldn't quite read. Miss Fortune just shook her head and gave him a small smile through her visible panic. He shot a glance at Sunder before pulling Miss Fortune aside. Sunder was honestly surprised at their sudden secretiveness but brushed it off. 'They'd been partners way longer before meeting me, there's always going to be some kind of rapport between them that I can't have.' She thought as she caught snippets of their murmured conversation.
".......Khaos.......trauma."
".....know but ....fine."
"...... .. careful Kitten."
"... Will." Sunder looked away as her teammates and friends gazed at each other fondly, feeling like she was intruding on something intimate. 'I feel terrible for Bridgette but these two need to face facts. She thought with a guilty pang.

The three finally exited the void just outside of the warehouse.
"We all remember the plan right?" Ladybird asked, his eyes lingering on Miss Fortune a beat longer than Sunder knew he would admit. Sunder and Miss Fortune both nodded. Miss Fortune made another portal and dropped into it just as Ladybird swung his way into the building. Meanwhile Sunder used Multitude and her clones scattered into the building, sneaking through the mindless mob. The room was filled with people, all of whom had the same yellow slit pupiled eyes and fangs and were hissing wildly to the pounding rock music that filled the air. Sunder looked up at the stage where Kimi and her bandmates were playing loudly, all sporting the same appearance as their zombified fans. Behind them was a massive winged snake, swaying hypnotically to the music with NotKhaos who was rolling a guitar pick over his knuckles.
"You know, I don't actually hate this music, it's a little on the hissy side but who hasn't been there?" Miss Fortune called out from the rafters. NotKhaos looked up and grinned at her his blue skinned face somehow appearing handsome momentarily as his cruel green eyes glittered with genuine delight.
"Ah! Miss Fortune! It's truly wonderful to see my favorite victim! Have you reconsidered my offer Moggy?" He asked his smooth voice lined with malice as he removed his hat, revealing a head of well groomed blue hair.
"Well that depends, have youe reconsidered mine?" Miss Fortune responded shooting down from the rafters, bringing her baton down onto his head. Sunder winced at the crack that reverberated throughout the room as he brought up his fan to block the hit.
"Well that's an unfortunate response, we really could work well together Moggy dear." He said his voice a sickly sweet venom. Sunder froze at the words. Wait...... work......together? A kind of silence settled over the noisy room as both Sunder and Ladybird shared a wide eyed look. A pang of betrayal ran through the murine hero as she quickly realized that he knew exactly what Khaos was talking about. But the breathless silence was shattered by a loud reverberating growl that poured forth from Miss Fortune as she threw a wild attack at her adversary. Sunder shook off her pained daze and began to make her way to the stage in hopes of retrieving the guitar pick from NotKhaos' back pocket. Of course I don't know what they're talking about, and of course Ladybird does! He and Miss Fortune have been partners for god knows how long! They're bound to have stories that they don't want to share with me. She thought as she wove her way through the crowd, glad that the zombies weren't dancing or otherwise she would be terrified to even walk in her shrunken state.
She finally reached the stage using her jump rope to launch herself upwards onto it. Once she was there her copies converged right behind NotKhaos who was currently distracted by a nearly feral Miss Fortune. Sunder reached out her hand to the distracted villain when she heard Ladybird cry, "SUNDER LOOK OUT!" She whipped around and immediately cowered back as the winger serpent sentimonster was baring down on her. Sunder's hands flew up and without really meaning to she cried, "MINIMIZE!" There was a stunned silence and Sunder opened her eyes to find that the sentimonster's fangs were whiffing by her as she seemed to shrink slightly every time it attacked.
"What the hell?" She asked herself as she stared at her hands which seemed to shift in and out of phase as her body seemed to expand and contract. Okay.... Just going to file this under freak out later..... Sunder thought as she approached the stunned and frozen NotKhaos. She deftly removed the guitar pick from his pocket and tossed it to Miss Fortune as her body seemed to settle back into phase.
"I think this is yours Kitty Cat." She said with a cocky smile that Miss Fortune returned after a moment.
"For me? Oh! You shouldn't have!" Miss Fortune exclaimed before cataclysming the object. Ladybird purified the amok and dropped down onto the stage.
"Way to go Mini! Looks like we can add your name to the 'secondary powers' list!" He said clapping her on the back. People around them began coming out of their zombified trances and Miss Fortune made a point to make sure that Sunder got their appreciation for the save.
"Urgh.... What.... What happened? Last thing I remember I was talking to..... Ladybird! Miss Fortune! Y-you got Sunder!" Kimi exclaimed as she held a hand to her head.
"That we did! And she just used her secondary power to save your life!" Miss Fortune said nudging her teammate forward before walking off a little ways with a now slightly frowning Ladybird. Sunder chuckled nervously and shrugged.
"It-um-I-it was nothing! Just doing my job...." She said smiling awkwardly as Kimi looked at her with awed eyes. A beeping alarm rang out of her necklace and Sunder jumped.
"Oh hey look at the time! Looks like I've gotta go but hey let me know if there's going to be another show after.... All this...." She said gesturing vaguely before handing over the contact information for her jump rope communicator and launching herself out of the warehouse to join her teammates.
