Part 8 The Hacker

When Joanna was sure that nobody was following her, she slowed to a stop. She looked around trying to figure out where she was, but she found herself lost. There were too many hallways, doors, and windows that all looked the same. She walked around a bit, trying not to look utterly lost and muttered a curse under her breath. After too many wrong turns, Jo found herself in the common area. Feeling that all hope was lost she sat down on one of the plush chairs and waited for something to happen. After what seemed an eternity, Carly finally found her.

"There you are! Did you get lost?" Carly smiled, "Because I certainly did."

Joanna smiled. "Yeah, I got hopelessly lost. What happened with Aaron?"

"Well, after I shouted 'so' Aaron had no idea what was going on. It gave me just enough time to snatch his handset." Carly said.

"You stole it?" Joanna asked, dumbstruck.

"Well," Carly said, "after I fixed it, I placed it back in his room. Now he has no proof."

Carly looked around nervously. "I think it would be better if we went into hiding until dinner time."

"Where should we go?" Jo asked her, fearfully.

"Wesley's room. He'll keep us in hiding." Carly said, without panic.

They carefully sneaked through the hallways and found a door that Carly was very certain was Wesley's. Carly knocked on the door.

A voice on the other side said, "Who dares to interrupt the-"

"Wesley, its me." Carly said, clearly annoyed.

"Oh." The voice, now known as Wesley said, "Okay."

The door opened and Carly pulled Joanna in behind her and slammed the door. Jo looked around the room, and realized that everything was exactly the same as her room. It made her wonder if the Capitol had any creativity at all.

"So, who are you?" Wesley asked Joanna, looking rather cautiously.

"Joanna Weber. The West States." She said, feeling like it had been the thousandth time she had said that today.

Wesley nodded, shook her hand and said, "Wesley. The Plains States."

Joanna looked at Wesley and thought that he really did belong in the Plains States, because he looked very, very plain. His hair was a a light shade of brown, and was trimmed in a very simple, and plain hair cut. His eyes almost matched his hair, but were a shade too light. Even his clothes looked plain. Simple pants, simple shirt, simple shoes. Joanna almost laughed at it all.

"So why are you guys here?" Wesley asked them.

"Waiting for Aaron to find his stupid handset, completely fixed," Carly said, rolling her eyes.

Wesley's eyes brightened. "Did you get away with it?"

"Well not yet," Carly replied, "I bet he hasn't even found it yet."

"Where did you put it?" Wesley asked, almost bubbling with excitement.

Carly snorted. "Where he left it, on his nightstand. I doubt he's ever going to find it."

Suddenly a great noise rang out through the halls. To Joanna it almost sounded like a gong had been rung. She was startled be this and saw that Wesley was, too. Carly just rolled her eyes.

"Well guys," Carly said, "I guess Aaron found his handset after all."
