Stoick's POV

Stoick sighed. He hates it when his son gets an attitude with his father. He wished he had taught the boy better when he was young. Stoick knew some of the words he said were harsh and that he might have gone a little overboard but he couldn't help but believe it was for the better, to toughen Hiccup up so that he knew the world had no kindness. The gods knew that even if Hiccup didn't, and that was all that mattered. Besides, Hiccup would eventually learn. After Hiccup had left to his room, Stoick had decided to give the boy some time while he ate dinner, which consisted of cooked lamb meat and cold peas that Stoick had Hiccup collect a few days before. Occasionally, Stoick would heart a small sob coming from Hiccup's room upstairs. So maybe the chieftain was beginning to feel a little guilty, but he would check on his son in a little bit. Knowing in these circumstances Hiccup most likely wouldn't come down to eat, Stoick finished his meal and put away the food. Stoick was thinking back to his conversation with Hiccup, when he had just asked what his son does by himself up in his room all alone and then Hiccup had taken on an angry tone and blamed him for not being involved in his life when Stoick was trying to, that day! Outrageous! The nerve of the village kids these days! Wouldn't be surprised if one of them decided it was time to befriend a dragon! Haha... Ha... I wonder what type of Viking would be mad enough to try that....? Anyhow, the large man had a meeting to attended to, so after that, he would leave for home and check on Hiccup.
I wonder how the boy is doing now? Well, I mustn't waste time knowing there are more important matters at hand, like the villages food supply and recent raids. Stoick left home for the meeting with different thoughts on his mind.
A few hours later it was 7:00 at night and the meeting was adjourned till morning. As Stoick arrived home, the silence in the house surprised him. Usually Hiccup would be cleaning at this time and finishing some chores around the house, but tonight was different. There was no Hiccup scurrying around cleaning up messes and picking up weapons that lay scattered about. There was just silence.
Stoick found himself worry. If Hiccup was gone, if the small boy had left, Stoick didn't know what he would do. He had already lost Valka, Hiccups mother, and he couldn't lose Hiccup too. The chieftain hurried up the stairs, and speed down the hall to Hiccup's room. Outside the door, Stoick couldn't hear anything. Worry swelled up like a balloon in his chest, as he opened the door.
Stoick sighed in relief. The small Viking was on his bed, curled in a ball, obviously asleep. Still, Stoick found it strange that Hiccup had strayed from his normal routine. Suddenly, a sharp thought hit Stoick hard enough to make him stumble. What if Hiccup is... Is... D-dea- NO! I refuse to think of this!
The worried chieftain hurries to Hiccups bed side and yanks the small boy out of his curled in form, sending his limbs sprawl out on the tiny bed. Now Stoick could see the gentle rise and fall of his sons chest. Stoick breathed a sigh of relief. The man realized how stressful that ordeal had been. From the strangely quiet home to him believing his son had died. Stoick stood and walked out of the room, but not before noticing a small sketchbook and charcoal pencil. In and open page, Stoick managed to see a drawing of a dragon. A dragon Stoick had never seen before. Instead of investigating this though, the chieftain decided to go to bed himself, for the early morning meeting tomorrow. As Stoick reached his room, quickly changed, and climbed into his bed, which groaned in protest to his weight, the chieftain couldn't help but think how much he would miss his son if anything ever happened to him. Soon, exhaustion and comfort did their job and Stoick fell fast asleep.

Hiccup's POV

When Hiccup awoke, it was late at night. He had fallen asleep in the afternoon, after all. The full moon shown bright through a hole in Hiccup's roof. A sudden sadness pierced through his chest as he remembered his fathers harsh words. You... Weak boy, he had spat, go to your room and don't come back down until your the son I wish I had. Hiccup knew his father wasn't proud of his son, but still, it hurt to hear them that way. Hiccup had been having some serious doubts about himself for the past little while, and his father hadn't helped ease them. Hiccup decided to go and meet Toothless. The dragon would most definitely worry about him after not showing up yesterday. He would stay with Toothless the entire day. No one wanted to see him anyway. Walking around his room, changing into fresh clothes, Hiccup thought of Astrid. For a long time he had thought he had a crush on her, but eventually came to realize, it was more like he idolized her than anything. Astrid's fierce personality reminded him a lot of Toothless and how protective he could get of me. As Hiccup finished getting dressed, he heard a loud thud from outside and a moan. Hiccup stopped and walked towards a window like opening in his wall, and, much to his surprise, saw a boy looking around his age, with strikingly white hair lying on his back on the ground.
"Uh... Are you alright?" I called, not knowing who this strange boy was. At the sound of my voice, the boys eyes fly open and before I can process what is happening, the stranger is gone, leaving me doubting what I saw.
"That was... Odd." I say to myself, before deciding to leave and meet my bud, Toothless. But still, the strange appearance is always on my mind, as I head out of a place I wish I didn't call home.
