Y/N's P.O.V

So today dad, Korra and I are leaving to find any new Airbenders out there.

We've got Jinora, Bumi, Asami, Bolin and Mako coming with us. As well as Wolf, Naga, Lucky and Oogi. 

Asami got us an airship to travel around in.

The airship has just taken off.

Mako got us a map and has marked villages where Airbenders have been spotted.

He lays the map out on the table.

Mako: As of now, these are all the places we've gotten reports about Airbenders. It looks like we can hit up most of them before we get to Ba Sing Se.

Korra: We're gonna bring back the Air Nation from the brink of extinction after nearly two hundred years.

Tenzin: And it's because of you, Korra.

Y/N: Yeah, it is. 

We head to the first place.

(Two days later)

So, earlier tonight we met an Airbender, but he didn't want to join us.

He didn't want to leave his family.

We're now back on the airship heading to the next village.

Korra: In my head I saw that playing out very differently.

Y/N: Me too.

Asami: Maybe we should've stayed and tried harder to convince him to join us.

Bolin: Or we could've thrown him into a potato sack and forced him into the ship.

Bumi: That's how they got me to join the United Forces.

Dad sighs.

Y/N: Guys, we can't coerce people or throw them in potato sacks.

Tenzin: Y/N's right. They must come freely. But not to worry, there are plenty other Airbenders out there who will be happy to come with us.

Y/N: Exactly. We just have to show them what the Air Nation is all about.

(Three days later)

We've been searching for new Airbender's for three days and none of the ones we found what to come with us.

They just don't want to leave their lives behind.

We tried the tough love approach, but that didn't work either.

It's safe to say nothing is working.

Dad groans.

Tenzin: I really thought I had that last guy. I mean who doesn't want a bison as their best friend?

Bumi: It's okay, Tenzin. I still want to be an Airbender.

Y/N: Okay, guys, I think it's safe to say the way we're going about this isn't working.

Tenzin: Well, I guess we should just go to Ba Sing Se and try our luck there.

Korra: I don't know what to do. I just thought more people would be excited about coming with us.

Bumi: Well, maybe you gotta do more to get them excited. You need to add a little razzle dazzle.

Bolin: Yeah, razzle dazzle. We could put on an Airbendering street performance.

Bumi: I was going to say we should cover Tenzin's robe in sequins, but that's better.

Korra: It sounds ridiculous.

Y/N: Yeah, but it might just work. Dad?

Tenzin: I'm willing to try anything at this point.

Bolin: Yes! That's the kind of enthusiasm I like to hear. Don't worry, if this doesn't work I have a back-up plan?

Asami: And what's that?

Bolin: We use Y/N.

Y/N: What do you mean by, "use" me?

Bolin: Well, you could maybe talk to some lady Airbender's we find.

Y/N: Talk?

Bolin: Yeah, you know, show 'em some of that boyish charm. They'll love it and be begging to join.

Y/N: Uh, no. I'm doing that.

Korra: I'm not okay with that. He's off-limits.

Asami: It could work, Korra.

Korra: Really, Asami?

Asami: I'm just saying, Y/N is good at being charming and he's cute. I mean there's a reason I asked him out on a date after hitting him with my moped.

Y/N: Thanks, Asami... but still no. Let's just do Bolin's performance.

(The next day)

We're now in another Earth Kingdom village.

Right now we're showing off our Airbending to the crowd that's gathered around.

After it finishes the crowd leaves.

A young boy comes over to us.

???: Hey, hello. If you're loking for Airbenders, you've just found one.

He demonstrates by shooting two blasts of air.

???: I want to join you guys.

Bolin: Get out of town!

Korra: We got our first recruit.

Y/N: Just to be totally clear, we're going to be heading to Ba Sing Se, then the Northern Air Temple to live as Nomads and rebuild the Air Nation. All that sound good to you?

???: Yeah. Ba Sing Se, rebuild the temple, Air Nomad whaddyado... I'm in. Let's go right now.

Bolin: This is going to be great. You're gonna love it.

Y/N: Alright, kid. What's your name?

???: I'm Kai. So when do we hit the road?

Tenzin: Hang on a second, Kai. Where are your parents? We can't take you with us without their permission.

Kai: My parents are... gone.

Bolin: You're an orphan?

Kai: It happened about a year ago. My hometown was radied by outlaws, but my parents fought back against them. I was so scared, but they told me not to worry. They would protect me. And they did. My parents saved me and the entire village. But they died in the fight.

He sighs.

Kai: Mum and pop meant everything to me. They were my whole life. Ever since then, I've been on my own and on the run. Those same outlaws are still after me. 

Y/N: You don't have to run from them anymore, Kai. Right, guys?

Tenzin: I'm so sorry about your parents. I know we could never replace them, but we're here for you.

Korra: We'll keep you safe.

Y/N: Exactly. Come on, kid.

We take Kai onto the airship.

Just then guys on motorcycles show up outside.

Kai: The outlaws. They've found me. Let's get out of here!

He pulls on my arm.

Y/N: We're not running from anyone.

I go outside to deal with the outlaws.

Y/N: If you want Kai, you'll have to go through me!

The Earthbenders try to throw rocks at me, but I break through the with Airbending.

I blast them down with Airbending and take down their leader with an Airbending kick.

Y/N: Your days of harassing an innocent boy are over. You outlaws are going to jail.

Leader: Outlaws? Innocent boy? I'm a sheriff and these are my deputies. And this kid is a thief. Whatever he told you is a lie. We've been chasing him for months.

We realise Kai is gone until we see that Mako caught him and he had gold on him.

The sheriff tells us that Kai was adopted by a family, but he robbed them of their stuff and tried to run away.

Y/N: Kai, is that true?

Kai: The person who stole that stuff was the old me. Once I got Airbending, I changed. I don't know how to explain it, but I feel like Airbending chose me for a reason. Like I'm a new person.

The deputies take him.

Kai: I'm sorry, please.

They're gonna take him to jail.

I sigh.

Y/N: Wait. You guys got the family's life savings back. Now let us take Kai.

Tenzin: Y/N, do you really want our first new memeber of the Air Nation to be a liar and a thief?

I look to him.

Y/N: He just needs guidance. I wasn't an Airbending Master when you started took me in. I was just a street rat who didn't take his Airbending gifts seriously. I believe that people can change and be better than they once were. I think Kai deserves a chance to change.

Sheriff: You want this kid or not?

Tenzin: Yes. You can release him into our custody.

Kai rushes over and hugs me.

Kai: Thank you.

Y/N: Just don't make me regret it.

We've have a new Airbender coming with us.
