Chapter 30: Facing The New Airbender

(Republic City)

Third person perspective

Avatar Korra and the other's are now back to Republic City.

They leave the ship and are greeted by Beifong.

Lin: Welcome home, Avatar. Thanks for starting a war.

Korra: I didn't start a war. Well, I did, but it's more complicated than you're making it seem.

She looks to Mako.

Lin: Mako, I want you back on the beat. There's going to be a Southern Water Tribe peace march tonight. I need you and Y/N there to make sure things don't get out of hand.

Mako: I'm all yours.

Beifong looks around for Y/N.

Lin: Where's your partner, Mako?

Mako: He's still at South Pole.

Lin: What? Why?

Korra: He stayed behind to help my father and the rebels fight back against the North. And I'm going to the peace march too. The people of the South need to see that the Avatar is on their side in the fight against the Northern invaders.

Lin: Great. That should calm them down.

Beifong walks away.

Mako then looks to Korra.

Mako: Maybe you should sit this out?

Korra: Why?

Mako: I just think having you there blatantly supporting one side will only make things worse. You could at least try to seem neutral.

Korra: But I'm not neutral. The North invaded my home and my boyfriend is there, and in danger. The reason I'm here in to get the Republic to send troops to support the South.

Varrick: Zhu-li has already made an appointment with President Raiko tomorrow. We'll get him on board.

Mako: Whatever. I gotta go to work.

Asami: I better got check on my factory.

Korra: I'm gonna find out about this peace march.

They all leave the dock.

(Two days later)

(South Pole)

Y/N's P.O.V

I've been in the South Pole with the rebels for two days fighting off the North.

It hasn't been easy as we're outnumbered.

I'm currently in the planning room trying to come up with a way to deal a big blow to the North.

Tonraq then comes in.

Tonraq: Y/N, please tell you've got something. My men are in trouble.

I sigh and look at him.

Y/N: I wish I had better news, Chief. It's just impossible to predict where the North is gonna hit next.

Tonraq: I had a feeling you'd say that.

Y/N: I've been thinking about something else too.

Tonraq: What is it?

Y/N: Well, I don't think we should just be relying on Korra getting the United Forces to come and help. Because it may not work.

Tonraq: I agree, but it's only chance of getting some support.

Y/N: I don't think it is. I have an idea for getting some back-up.

Tonraq: What is it?

Y/N: I think I can get us some support from Fire Lord Izumi. I mean my family have always been close to the Fire Lord. So I think she'd be willing to help. The only problem is...

Tonraq: You'd have to go to the Fire Nation to talk to her.

Y/N: Exactly. I know you need the help, but with your permission I'd like to go.

He thinks for a moment.

Tonraq: I think you're right. You should go.

Y/N: I'll head out first thing tomorrow. Your people need us now.

Tonraq: Let's go.

I grab my new sword and leave with Tonraq.

(Twenty minutes later)

We've been fighting off the North and this time we've managed to push them back.

Rebel: Chief, they're falling back!

Tonraq: Let's move forward and push them back further.

As we move up a blast of wind hits the ground infront of us.

I look up and see Tahn on a rooftop above us.

Tahn: Hey, Y/N. You ready for round two?

He drops down infront of us.

Y/N: More than. Chief go on ahead. I got this.

Tonraq: Okay, be careful.

Tonraq and his men leave.

Third person perspective

Y/N and Tahn start circling each other.

The two end up in an more open space.

Tahn pulls out a sword too.

Y/N: Let's do this.

He charges at Y/N and the two start fighting.

Tahn swings his sword at Y/N, the Airbender uses Airbending to shoot up into the air.

The evil Airbender goes after to him and the two fight on a rooftop.

Tahn knocks Y/N's sword out of his hand.

He tries to cut down the Airbender, but Y/N drops down on his back.

After that he quickly jumps up and blasts Tahn with Airbending sending him onto another rooftop.

Y/N runs and jump over to land infront of him.

Y/N: Looks like you're not as strong as you think, Tahn.

Tahn: Oh, I'm not done yet.

He kicks Y/N with Airbending.

Tahn jumps up and grabs Y/N by the throat and lifts him into the air.

Tahn: I expected better from you, Y/N. Given how we came to be, you should be stronger.

He throws Y/N off the rooftop and the boy hits the ground.

Tahn jumps down and lands across from him.

Y/N gets up.

Y/N: What are you talking about?

Tahn: Well, I guess since Tenzin didn't tell you, I should. We are family after all.

Y/N's eyes widen.

Y/N: What?

Tahn smirks.

Tahn: I'm your brother, Y/N.

The Airbender shakes his head.

Y/N: No, no. You're lying.

Tahn: You and I were created in the same way.

Y/N: What?

Tahn: We were created using pure spiritual energy. We were created by Avatar Aang to be Airbender's.

Y/N: No! No, you're lying!

Y/N charges at Tahn, but his brother knocks him off his feet and blasts him into the air with his bending.

As Y/N comes back down, Tahn jumps up and blasts Y/N will Airbending.

This causes Y/N to hit the ground hard.

Tahn lands and goes over to Y/N.

He rolls the kid over onto his back.

Tahn: Just mediate on it, little brother. And you'll learn the truth.

Y/N then passes out.

Tahn looks back and sees Tonraq has returned.

Tonraq: Back off, Airbender!

Tahn: I'll be back, Tonraq.

He jumps away and leaves.

Tonraq rushes over to Y/N.

Tonraq: Y/N! Y/N, wake up!

He looks to his people.

Tonraq: We need to get Y/N to safety.

Two rebels help Y/N and get him to safety.

He's not in any condition to fight.
