Chapter 2: Helping Korra

(Republic City)

Y/N's P.O.V

I'm now back in Republic City at Air Temple Island.

Right now in an Air-scooter race with Jinora, Ikki and Meelo.

The three of them have been trying to beat me in a race for years, but can't.

I speed past all of them.

Y/N: Gonna have to do better than that!

A moment later I speed past the finish land I drop to the ground.

Jinora comes in with Meelo and Ikki behind her.

Jinora: You beat me again.

Y/N: Little sister, I was racing on an Air-scooter while you were still in dipars.

She pouts.

I smile.

Y/N: Hey, don't worry. One day you'll get fast enough to beat me, probably.

Jinora: Y/N, when do you think dad will give me my tattoos. I've pretty much mastered Airbending.

I kneel down infront of her.

Y/N: Jinora, you'll get them when you're ready. I promise. You just gotta be patience.

She nods.

Jinora: Yeah, okay.

Y/N: Come here.

She comes closer and we hug.

After that we pull away.

Y/N: Okay, you stay here and keep an eye on Ikki and Meelo. I gotta go and find dad.

Jinora: Alright.

I stand up and go to find dad.

I make it to dad's office and he gets off the phone.

Y/N: Hey, dad. What's going on?

Tenzin: Come with me. We need to go into the city.

He and I walk out of the room.

Y/N: Why? What's going on?

Tenzin: I'll explain on the way.

We head to the dock.

(Twenty minutes later)

So, dad and I head to the police station.

Apparently Korra is now in Republic City and has been arrested.

An officer takes us to the room Korra is being held in. She's been questioned by Beifong.

Officer: Chief, Councilman Tenzin and Master Y/N are here.

Lin: Let them in.

The door opens and we walk in.

We see Korra handcuffed to the table.

Korra: Tenzin, Y/N, sorry. I got a little sidetracked on my way to see you.

I step forward.

Y/N: Hi, Chief Beifong. You look lovely as usual.

Lin: Sorry, kid. You can't come in here with that smile and boyish charm and expect to get what you want.

I sigh.

Y/N: It was worth a shot. Though it usual works.

Lin: Tenzin, why is the Avatar in Republic City? I thought you were supposed to be moving down to the South Pole to train her.

Tenzin: My relocation has been delayed. The Avatar, on the other hand, will be heading back to the South Pole immediately, where she will stay put.

Korra: But...

Tenzin: If you would be so kind as to drop the charges against Korra, I will take full responsibility for today's regrettably events and cover all the damages.

Beifong sighs.

Lin: Fine. Get her out of my city.

Tenzin: Always a pleasure, Lin.

Y/N: Come on, Korra. Let's go.

She gets up and leaves with dad and I.

(One hour later)

All of us are now on our way back to Air Temple Island.

Korra will be going back to the South Pole from there.

She tried to convince dad to let her stay, but he's not budging.

And he says I'm stubborn.

We go past the sataue of Avatar Aang.

Every time I see the statue I get this weird feeling that I can't explain.

Just then I hear a voice.

???: Y/N.

I look around.

???: Y/N.

Dad comes over.

Tenzin: Are you alright?

Y/N: Uh, yeah. Just thought I heard something.

I sigh.

Y/N: Dad, I know you don't wanna hear this, but I think Korra's right. She needs to stay in Republic City with us.

Tenzin: Y/N...

Y/N: No, seriously. She needs to stay. This city does need her, the whole world does. She can't stay couped up her whole life. She needs to be here, so she can become the Avatar she's meant to be. The one grandpa Aang would want her to be.

I walk off.

(Ten minutes later)

We're now on the dock waiting for another boat.

Just then Jinora, Ikki and Meelo glide down.

Kids: Korra!

They all hug her.

Ikki: Are you coming to live with us on the island?

She kneels down.

Korra: No. I'm sorry, Ikki. I have to go home now.

Ikki: Aw.

As Korra walks away, dad steps forward.

Tenzin: Wait. I have done my best to guide Republic City towards the dream my father had for it. But you're right, it had fallen out of balance since he passed. I thought I should put off your training in order to uphold his legacy, but you are his legacy.

He looks back at me.

Tenzin: It took my own son to remind me of that.

I smile.

He looks back to Korra.

Tenzin: You may stay and train Airbending here with me.

She smiles.

Tenzin: Republic City needs it Avatar once again.

Korra: Yes! Thank you! You're the best.

She hugs all of us.

(The next day)

Today Korra is abou to give a speech to the people of Republic City.

I go over to her.

Y/N: Hey.

She looks at me.

Korra: Hey.

Y/N: So, you ready for Republic City to meet the new Avatar?

Korra: Yeah, I am.

Y/N: Okay, let's go.

Korra: Wait.

She grabs my hand.

I look at her.

Y/N: What's up?

Korra: I just wanna say thank you. You convince Tenzin to let me stay. I really appreciate it.

Y/N: Anytime. I've always got your back, Korra.

She smiles.

Korra: Same here.

We hug, then pull away.

Y/N: Okay, let's get out there.

I open the doors and Korra walks out first.

I walk out and stand behind her.

She goes up to the podium.

Korra: Hello. I'm Korra, you're new Avatar.

The crowd claps and cheers.

It's safe to say Republic City is gonna change for the better.
