Did You Even Try?
I soon grew close to Minnie and the teachers. When school time came around, I was told to go on the train and meet new friends. As I sat down in a compartment, two girls came in, laughing with each other.
"Hello!" The first girl said, noticing me.
"What's your name? I haven't seen you around before, are you in Gryffindoor?"
"I honestly don't know, I just got in this year." I replied truthfully. Soon enough, we got to the school, and me, Lily, the first girl, and Alice, the other girl, got out, and I went over to the boats. When I got to the great hall, I was the first one up. I had a mental argument with the hat ( I am not a coward!) and finally, he yelled out something... GRYFFINDOOR!!!
The table with gold and red decorations burst into yells and cheers. My smile dimmed the moment I set eyes on a certain person. When the sorting was over and Dumbledoor had spoken, I marched over to James and said
"Did you even try?" He gaped at me, sitting with his friends, three of them. "Over six years have passed, did you even try? After all the time had passed, did you attempt once to find out where I had gone? Did your parents ever ask where I went? Did you even try? I used to be your friend, until your mom made me out to be a freak. Did you try to speak a kind word to me ever since? No! I cried myself to sleep too many times, and you heard me! You never calmed me down, nor tried to help. If anything, you told me to shut up! Do you even remember me? Sapphire SilverMist, I vowed never to go by my last name again! After what you and your family did, I never was whole again! Never! Do you see what time has done to me? I can't believe you." I had bags under my eyes, and my voice was cracked with emotion.
"Moony, remember tomorrow is the full moon. Be careful." The boys stared at me, shocked that I could have guessed he was a werewolf within three minutes.
"James Charlus Potter, if I never saw your face again, it would be too soon. Goodnight Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail, Potter." The last name I spoke with such disgust that they flinched. Only then did I realize a small crowd had been staring at us. As I left, I heard Padfoot call me back.
"What?" I hissed, staring him in the eye. "How do you know our names, Moony's secret, and what was that all about?"
"None of your business! Tell the idiot that even though I've only been around you guys for a half hour, I can still work perfectly fine." He stood, shocked at my response, and I jerked my arm out of his grasp, stalking off.
"Saph! What was that about?" Lily called after me, worried and concerned. "Let's just say, we don't have the best relationship, and I hate his parents."
