Chapter 53
Sky
"YOUR GIRL GOT A 91% BITCHES!!" I exclaim happily as I plop down in front of Anna and Laura, with Nat and Peter following behind.
We invited Peter to sit with us again, to make up for lost time, and hopefully bond again. Although, as much as I say that I don't trust him and that it would take time for us to go back to normal, I can't help but feel instantly comfortable around him. I don't know what it is, but I just can't be mad at him. Sure I was hurt, but Brianna has that affect on people, so I can't blame Peter too much either.
Especially not after he got Brianna fired from her modeling job, because he exposed her trying to sabotage him.
Highlight of my day.
"Hey, guys." Peter smiles nervously, and I smile softly at the sight, my stomach fluttering. The girls send him welcoming smiles and he visibly relaxes more.
The girls may not be comfortable around him as much as me, but I know they're going to put it all aside for me to be happy, and I appreciate that a lot. I really do have the best friends ever.
"This calls for a celebration!!" Nat exclaimed just as happily, since she got a great average as well. "Sky, put on some music."
"Damn, I still haven't moved my songs here." I say looking at my new phone, that my brother had gotten me. "I need a USB to USB-C converter, because my PC doesn't have a USB-C built in it."
"Uhh, speak human please?" I roll my eyes playfully.
"I can't connect my phone to my PC." I chuckle, shaking my phone. "It's fun having a brother who graduated IT."
"No offense, but you're such a nerd." Anna laugh and I bow my head, pretending to tilt a hat.
"I actually have your music on my phone, if you want?" Peter speaks up and I turn to look at him, surprised. "I always listen to the playlist you made me, it's pretty cool."
"Yeah, that'd be great." I blush even deeper when my friends grin at each other.
Day one and they're already back to shipping it. My best friends, ladies and gentlemen.
Peter nods and puts the playlist on shuffle, and we both blush at the song that comes up, since we had agreed on it being our song. The girls look between us suspiciously, confused to why both he and I are looking away, blushes covering both our cheeks.
"Oh god, It's so hot." I fan myself, not handling the heat, even if it's not that hot to others, it is to me.
"Just take off your flannel." Laura suggests.
"No, I have broad shoulders, I need it." I chuckle. "Plus, I'm pretty sure I have big sweat stains under my pits."
"Yeah, same." Peter chuckles. "Nat, how the hell are you wearing a hoodie?"
"I'm not bothered." She shrugs.
I'm chewing on my green apple when a certain song comes up, and I almost choke on my apple as I laugh, but thankfully I don't get any apple bits out of my nose. Everyone looks at me weirdly, and Peter pats my back as I cough out the burning acid of the apple juice.
"You okay?" I laugh and nod.
"Yeah, it's just this song," I laugh more before I compose myself to speak clearly. "When I read the comments, everyone was talking about how they overcame their struggles and are now embracing their scars, and the only thing I could think about first time I heard the song was the scar I got from falling off my scooter when I was 8."
The group burst into laughter, as the song played in the background, and they realized the similarity, making us all laugh even harder.
"You're truly something else, Sky." I blush at his words, giggles still coming out of my lips.
"So, where should we hang out today?" Laura asks.
"The usual, maybe?" Nat suggests and I shrug, agreeing with whatever. We then look over to Peter and he looks surprised.
"Oh, you want me to hang out with you guys?" He asks.
"Of course," Anna chuckles. "How else will you make it up to us if you don't hang out with us?"
"I'm obviously in." He grins and I grin back, seeing the sparkle return to his brown eyes.
"Hey, Peter, can you ask how much this is?" I hold out the can of pink lemonade to him shyly. It didn't have a price tag, and I didn't want to spend a lot on it anyway, so I have to make sure of its price.
"No, you can ask yourself." He gives me a look and crosses his arms.
"But I don't want to talk." I whine and pout. "Please, Peter?"
"Sky," He sighs. "You need to get over your social anxiety."
"I'm good, I swear." I defend myself. "I just really don't want to ask about it this time..."
He gives me an unamused look before he gets behind me and pushes me towards the store clerk, and my eyes widen before I gulp and speak quietly.
"Excuse me, how much is this?" I show the can, hoping the clerk wouldn't focus on my tomato face and stiff posture.
"50 cents." He answers and I nod with a smile, thanking him politely before I turn back and glare at Peter, who watched everything with a proud grin.
"I hate you." I grumble and cross my arms.
"No you don't." He grins. "It wasn't that hard, was it?"
"Do you not see my red face?"
"It's cute!" He exclaims with a laugh as I narrow my eyes at him, fighting back a smile of my own. "Come on, I'll pay for it for making you do that."
"No you won't." I shake my head, holding the can to my chest, as if I'm hugging it. He raises an eyebrow at me and grabs another can from the fridge behind me and sprinting to the counter to pay for both our snacks and drinks. I run after him but I get there too late, seeing him pay for both of our snacks, taking the bag and winking at me before he leaves the store to wait outside for us. I go over to Nat, Anna and Laura who were still looking for what they wanted to buy.
"He stole my drink and paid for it." I tell them.
"That sentence does not make sense, girl." Laura laughs and I shake my head, agreeing with her once I recalled what I said in my mind.
We get out of the store after the girls bought their things, and we meet up with Peter, who is already halfway done with his drink. He hands me the bag with my snacks sheepishly and I take it, poking my tongue out at him jokingly, making us both laugh.
"I'm glad I didn't tell my family about our fight, or there would have been no way for you to hang out with us again." I say, opening my can, flinching when it lets out some gas with a pop.
I just got scared by a can, wow.
"I haven't told my parents either." He admits while we walk towards the park. "They love you, so if they head what I did they would have scolded me."
"Of course they love me," I flip my hair and take a sip from my drink. "I'm the best."
"Especially your dorky laugh." Laura teases me.
"Oh my god I just remembered that time I accidentally burped in front of your dad!" I face palm, groaning at the memory as they all burst out laughing. God, I can be so embarrassing sometimes.
But hearing my friends laugh is worth it.
