Chapter 2
Sky
The door finally opened and out came two of my best friends; Natalie and Laura Green.
"Hey guys!" I high five Nat and do my special greeting with Laura, which is a high five...except she uses her forehead instead.
It's like a cooperative facepalm basically.
"Who is that?" Laura grins seeing Peter standing awkwardly next to me. I smile at him quickly before turning to my friends to introduce him, but Laura beat me to it. She stood in front of him and pulled out her hand.
"Hi, I'm Laura." She grins. "You're hot."
Nat and I glance at each other and sigh as Peter's eyes widen before we each put a hand on her shoulders and pull her away from him.
"Okay back off, girl." Nat says making her pout.
I chuckle at Peter's reaction. "Like I said, no filter." He smiles back at me.
"So what's your name?" Nat asks.
"Peter. Nice to meet you."
"Oh my god! Did Sky propose to you?"
I laugh and blush, turning my gaze away from his deep brown eyes.
"MOVING ON- Is Anna coming to school today?" I ask as we continue to walk to school, which is about 10 minutes away now.
"Yeah she is." Nat nodded. "She's dreading seeing her class tho."
"Ugh same." Laura groaned.
I laugh and try to include Peter in our conversation, as well as telling him more about our school.
"There's this one class that everyone in the school hates." I inform him. "Usually we call them by their grade so I guess we're calling them tenth graders now." I laugh. "The 04 generation is so obnoxious it's crazy! They think they're popular and cool, but really they're just dumb."
"Wait, I'm confused." He furrows his eyebrows. "I don't get this system...won't there be students their age in our classes?"
"Oh no, our system is different." Nat says. "Our school is like a mix of american systems and middle eastern ones; each grade will stay together, but instead of staying in the same class all day like in the middle eastern schools, we go to our classes, but the people are the same. And we have some elective classes and clubs as well."
"Oh so we pretty much will have the same people in our classes?" He asks.
"Yup." I say and stop as we get to our school. I point at the building next to our high school and say "That's the middle school along with the kindergarten."
"Oh so that's where my sister will be." He says. "She's starting kindergarten this year."
"Our sister too!" Laura exclaims.
"Will you need to pick her up after school?" I ask him and he nods, so I assure him that we'll go with him.
We walk into the school and Nat and Laura say bye to go find Anna in the library. I offered to take Peter to the office to get more information about his placement such as which class he'll be in and his locker number and combination.
"Hey Professor Blackwell." I smile walking into his office. Normally all new students just go to the homeroom of every grade to get their things, but I had to say good morning to my neighbor and principal , so here we are.
"Hey there, Sky!" He smiles back. "And...?"
"Oh," Peter gets the point. "I'm Peter Thompson. I'm new here."
"He's also our new neighbor."
"Oh well that's great!" Professor exclaims. "What grade are you? Let me find your file and information."
"I'm a junior, sir."
"No need to call me sir, Peter." He says kindly as he searched his computer. "Any friend of Sky is a friend of mine."
I turn to Peter and smile sheepishly, nudging his arm with my own.
"Aha, found it!" Professor Blackwell exclaimed. "Okay so you have locker number 323..ooh I feel bad for you, son."
"Why?"
"It's surrounded by the 04 girls." I laugh.
"You'll be in class 11B." Professor adds.
"Aww, we won't be in the same class." I pout at Peter.
"I can change your place before class starts if you want?" He asks Peter and he eagerly nods.
"Please!"
I feel myself blush, happy that he'd want to be in the same class as me.
Professor Blackwell nods with a smile before he turns to his computer again and makes some changes, then gets a sticky note and writes down Peter's locker combination on it before giving it to him.
"Have a fun year!"
"Thanks!" We call back and leave the office.
"We got some time to kill before class, let's go check out your locker."
"I'm scared." He admit.
"Because of the 10th graders?" He nodded. "You should be." I say, freaking him out more.
"And like Laura said, you're hot. They'll be piling after you, so will some of our classmates."
"Is it too late to take up home schooling?" I laugh at his remark.
"Don't worry, you'll be safe if you stick with me and my friends. We have natural bitch repellent."
He snorts at my statement and I look at him with a soft smile grazing my lips.
We get to his locker and he opens it, putting in his stuff. Meanwhile I took out my phone and texted my friends to meet me here, knowing I'll probably need back up once the 10th graders get here.
And to think I was one week away from being in their generation...
I don't even want to think about that.
I see the girls heading our way as they talk extra loudly to grab everyone's attention. They're all wearing off shoulder tops with matching chokers, and aw look at that...they dyed their hair together too!
You can tell it's one of those hair dyes that will be ruined with a couple showers and then leave it in its bleached color and nasty feel.
Sucks to be them.
Fun to be me.
Jasmine and Selena spot Peter and make a bee line towards him.
Heh, get it? Bee line? Because they think they're queen bee's?
Puns.
Selena cuts in front of me, pushing me away as Jasmine does the same too. They lean back on the lockers and look up at him, fluttering their over mascara-ed eyelashes.
Think I could snatch one and write my college thesis about it? Pretty sure it'd look like a monster under a microscope.
"Hey handsome." Selena smirks.
"What's your name?" Jasmine asks, twirling her 'ombre' hair around her finger.
10 minutes into school and I've already experienced enough cringe for the rest of my life.
Poor Peter looks so hopeless right now. He looks at me, pleading for help.
Time for some action.
I walk in front of them, blocking their view of Peter as they whine and try to push me away again, but those scrawny hands ain't doing nothing.
"His name is back off." I smile sarcastically. "Now if you excuse us, we have a life to get to."
I take Peter's hand and close his locker before I drag him away to the library, where my friends probably still are since they haven't seen the text I had sent them.
"Damn, you were not kidding about them." Peter says, running his free hand through his hair.
"Oh buddy, they've only just started." I tell him.
"Please never leave me." He pleads.
I smile and squeeze his hand in reassurance.
"I won't."
We get closer to the library and I see my friends walk out of it as they all laugh at whatever they were talking about.
I let go of Peter's hand, knowing how much my friends love to tease me. But I don't notice the look of hurt flash across his face.
"Anna!!" I exclaim and hug her, despite us not being huggers. It's been a while since I've seen her.
"Peter, meet Anna. Anna, meet Peter."
Her eyes widen and she looks at us two.
"Did she propose to you?" She asks.
"Almost." Peter smirked at me and laughed as I rolled my eyes at them all.
Excuse me, he smirked? Those are real? What?
OKAY NOPE I AM OUT OF HERE! THIS IS TURNING INTO A HIGH-SCHOOL MOVIE AND I DO NOT WANNA SING AND DANCE- I had a big breakfast and I don't want to throw it up so soon.
"Hardy har har." I roll my eyes. "I asked his last name first before proposing so hah!" I poke out my tongue at her.
"Just to be clear, I'm shipping this." Anna says and I face palm.
"Oh for god's sake!"
"Sure." We all turn to look at Peter surprised. He winks at me and wraps an arm around my shoulder. "Every prince needs his princess, right?"
Okay hold up-
Where did that come from?
I better get paid if my life is somehow turning into a movie.
