Nathan
I felt a bit of jealousy that Serenity wanted to stay with Shawn. And i had to calm myself that he was her brother. And the only one who was close to my mate.
It was like hell trying to restrain my wolf. An Alpha was highly possessive of their mates. Now i understood why dad was hardly seen without mom. The mates pull was strong; especially an Alpha's.
They dont want anyone touching whats theirs. Even if its their family member. At first its really hard. To control our cravings to be with our mates.
But i knew i had to leave Serrnity with her brother. Her only instinct was to be with her brother who was in the hospital at the moment.
"Lets give Shawn a rest ok?" Mom asked.
"I am staying with Shawn," Serenity said.
"You can," beta Reanne said.
I wanted to say no so badly but i knew that it would hurt Serenity; my mate. It felt so good to have her as my mate. My mate. It felt good to say that. I needed a moment alone with my mate.
"Coming Nate?" Joey asked.
"Just a minute," i said.
I waited as the others left the room. Shawn looked at me with a raised eyebrow and i nodded my head knowing he wanted to talk to me.
"Can i have a word with you Nathan?" Shawn asked.
"Sure," i said.
"Serenity could you leave us for a minute please?" He asked.
"Um ok," Serenity said in her soft voice.
"Look Nathan i know you will always meant well with Serenity. I know you wont treat her bad," he said.
"You should trust me with my life around Serenity Shawn," i said.
"Its just that these past couple of years ago we havent been on the best of terms," he said.
I nodded at what he said. I couldnt deny that beacuse i had some part in it too. Despite how small it was.
"I know we havent been on the best of terms. But i want to make things better between us. Despite our age difference," i said.
"Then what i am about to say wouldnt affect you as it normally would," he said.
"It depends on what you ask for," i said.
"I want you to let Serenity live her life until she is older," he said.
"What do you mean by that? I am not going to be away from her!" I growled.
"Thats the difference between us Nate. Serenity hasnt lived her life yet. She's only 13 Nate," Shawn said.
"What are you implying?" I asked in a stiff voice.
"Serenity doesnt have the confidence that she should have. She doesnt know how to live in the real world," he said.
"I can help her with that Shawn," i said.
"How? By daring all the boys and anyone to disturb her to back away? That wont help her Nathan," he said.
"So you are saying that i should let other males touch whats mine?" I growled, feeling irritated by his suggestions.
"Nathan you dont know Serenity like i do. She doesnt have friends of her own. She needs a strong boost of confidence so that she could know her place," he said.
"If thats the problem then i could help her with the friends situation. I can give her as many friends as she wants," i said.
Shawn opened his mouth to speak but he started coughing again. I handed him a glass of water from the sidetable of which he took a sip. Then Serenity came in.
"I heard you cough. Are you ok Shawn?" Serrnity asked worried.
I wanted her to look at me the same way as she was looking at Shawn.
"I-i am f-fine. Just t-talked t-too much," Shawn said in between coughs.
"Then dont talk at all. Its not good for you right now," she said.
"We w-will c-continue l-later," Shawn said.
"Sure can i have a word with Serenity alone before i leave?" I asked.
"Of course," he nodded.
I made sure that Serenity walked in front of me. That way i could check out her ass. That was going to give me a good dream tonight.
"Serenity- do you have a nickname?" I asked.
Serenity looked down and shook her head. Letting my hand touch her chin i was rewarded by the ignition of sparks and sighed at the contact.
"Say something," i said just wanting to hear her voice.
"What?" Serenity asked.
I sighed in pleasure as i heard her voice. It was so soft and feminine; just how a Luna should be.
"My name would be good for now," i said.
"Alpha," she said.
I frowned at that. She was my mate. She could call me by my name. Why would she call me Alpha? She and i were equals.
"Call me Nathan," i said.
"Na-nathan," she stuttered.
I closed my eyes in bliss. My name sounded so good on her lips. More so than i imagined it to be.
"Can i give you a kiss Serenity?" I asked.
I wanted to feel her skin against my lips. I wanted to kiss her on the lips but i knew now wasnt the time nor the place for that. I wanted to make her first kiss special.
"Um y-yeah," Serenity said her face going red.
I leaned forward and placed a chazte kiss on her cheek. I wanted to linger longer but i didnt want to freak her out. I leaned back and looked at her.
"I will see you tomorrow ok?" I asked.
Serenity nodded only and turned to go in. I sighed as i watched her disappear. This was going to be a long year but i would make Serenity mine before the year ended.
