It had been a normal day until the girl got closer than normal. She had gotten so close, in fact, that I could see every freckle in her tan cheeks. Her grassy green eyes. Her dark brown hair in two braids. 

So when she put the flower down in front of my home, I saw no harm in showing myself. She looked so kind and innocent. When I froze the flower she didn't back away like I thought she might've. Instead, she tried to move closer. Suddenly I realized what I had just done. I forced the water in the air to freeze, causing a wall of ice to appear in front of her.

She slowly backed away, but not in a scared way. It was more in a way that said; "I understand you want me to leave, and I respect that."

She turned around to walk forward and tripped over a small rock. I chuckled lightly. I hadn't laughed in a while. Nothing to laugh about. Even the animals stayed away from the cave. I watched her walk away with her bouquet in her arms. I had never heard her talk. Maybe she was just a quiet person.

I crawled further into my cave, curling into a ball and falling asleep on a bed of fur I had made. As I fell asleep the ice wall fell.

How could I have been so stupid?
