14. Failing Fight

I had a life once important, you see, yet...

As every soul deemed my words illegible,
As every birthday ensured one less family member,
As every little promises they gave
was dumped into ignorance,
The noose I held...
It still refused to budge.

And so aimless
I trudged forward,
Followed those with their ears open just for me--
and their mouth for cruel, slapstick humour.

As the pain curled within, stretching,
Testing its limit,
And my cries were the sermon I daily needed to hear,
Some with smirk, some with doleful aura appeared.

Months passed, time crawled by,
And that will faded,
Desperation followed
And I denied all those with a treacherous helping hand.

If ever a mortal glanced upon
the trembling fingers,
Twisted body,
Whispers of the night deceiving me,
He would've found that
A companion was all I had in sadness,
But the switchblade--
the switchblade I had forever...

Even when the moonlight
Glanced upon my torn eyes
And the casket in which my body was lowered into,
I still remembered that my life
Was a game in which few wanted to become my partner.
