Chapter 4: Nice guys sick day

(Y/n) walked into the schools courtyard, but what seemed different today was that everyone seemed to be in a state of panic. Not to mention, to (Y/n)'s concern, there wasn't any screaming fangirls. Not that she was worried about the playboy, but because what happens to him can come back to bite her in the ass.

The young girl walked into the shoe locker room and began to exchange her brown loafers, but quickly paid attention to a nearby conversation of a group of third year students.

"Yeah Ryuu-san called in sick today."

"Oh? Why?"

"He said he was walking in the storm and eventually got a bad fever from the walk."

"What!? What was he doing out at 7'o clock in the evening? Usually he's home by then!"

"Hell if I know. He said he was coming home from a friends house."

And the rumors begin.

Not even twenty minutes into class had the young (hair colored) girl been questioned about Ryuu.

'is it true you stood Ryuu up on a date?!'

'Don't lie to us! We saw you and Ryuu leaving the school together!'

'How could you be so cruel to a nice person?'

and so on and so forth.

(Y/n) sighed as she plugged in her headphones and ignored the incoming questions from the students.

-

The lunch bell rang and (Y/n) rushed up to the roof before she plopped down on the floor as she seethed with anger, "You would not believe what happened."

Kyoko batted her eyelashes as she gave small giggle, "I heard you stood him up on that date."

"That never happened! No! What the fuck?!"

Rin flashed her eyes at the two as she sucked on the straw connecting to her orange juice, "So you didn't stand him up on that date?"

The (hair colored) girl growled, "No. He was helping me with my science and we eventually went to my house. After setting the schedule for the studying I kicked him out."

The two girls looked at their friend as if waiting for her to finish the story.

"....In the storm."

"Ah so it is your fault that Ryuu is dead." a new voice came from behind them causing the three to turn their heads towards the voice.

"Anyone tell you it's not nice to eavesdrop?" Rin growled.

The said male with blonde messing hair and brown eyes smiled at them, "My names Abe Hiroshi, but call me by my last name, Abe."

(Y/n) eyed the suspicious male, "Don't I know you from somewhere?"

Abe smiled a cheeky smile, "Yes. I'm Ryuu's friend, best friend actually."

'Then he must be the one who started who bet thing.' (y/n) thought as she glared at the boy who joined their little huddle.

"(Y/n) I think you should go apologize to Ryuu-sama." Kyoko said as she glared at her friend, "You made him walk home and now he's sick. It's the least you can do."

"No. I don't even know where he lives-"

"Abe-senpai does! He said it himself, he's his best friend!"

Abe's eyes widened, "B-But..." his brown chocolate brown eyes looked at Chi's own, "I can show you where he lives..."

And with that Abe stood up and slouched his way over to the roof door.

-

The school bell rang as the heroine walked out of the gates only to meet the familiar sun-like hair blob, "Oh hi Abe."

The said male gave a smile to the girl below him as he gestured her to follow him.

"I didn't expect you to loose the bet that easily."

Abe's eyes widened before he chuckled nervously, "Bet...? What bet?"

(Y/n) rolled her eyes, "Oh you know the one you made with Ryuu about how if he gets me to like him then you lose. Do you remember now? Eh, senpai?"

Abe furrowed his brows, "Wait how'd you know?"

"Well I already dissed him off and he just got annoyed and was determined to win that bet. So he told me about the bet and made a different bet with me.
That if I like him before the month is up then he wins and if not then I win and he leaves my life."

Abe snickered, "Oh. Wait since you know he's a complete jackass then I win the bet!"

(Y/n) smiled, "If only, but he said you gave him the month so you have to wait a month."

Abe sighed, "Damn me for giving him a month. I didn't expect this to happen though."

"Hey now that we're together how bout we team up to win the bet against Ryuu?" (Y/n) suggested as she randomly pulled up goldfish crackers from her school bag.

Abe thought about the suggestion before giving a dorky smirk, "Deal! He never said I couldn't have help~!

....
Can I have some?"

"No."

- ✾ -

Eventually the two reached to a rather large modern house with a brown front door. Once they stood in front of the gate Abe saluted with a grin before leaving the (hair colored girl) alone.

Growling under her breath (Y/n) hesitantly pressed the intercom and after a few seconds a nice feminine voice emitted from the voice box.

"Satoshi resident this is Satoshi Hinata, how may I help you?"

The girl sighed in relief at the voice of a female rather than the playboy's annoying one.

"This is (L/n) (Y/n). I go to the same school as Satoshi Ryuu. I came to drop off some school papers and I kinda needed to talk to him."

After her response the line went cold for a while before she saw the front door swing open and out appeared an elderly lady with blonde hair with grey tied up in a bun.

"Ah~! Hello! This is the first time I can actually meet one of Ryuu's girl friends from school~! He usually gets to the door before I can get to it."

(Y/n) sweat-dropped at the women's energetic behavior despite her old age.
Eventually the lady came up to the gate and unlocked it before stepping to the side letting the young girl in.

Mumbling a 'thanks' the girl walked in and eventually found herself inside the home. Once she took off her shoes and stepped onto the platform she looked around the household admiring the decor and layout; all in all the house is much more bigger and fancy than her tiny apartment.

"This is a really pretty home!" (Y/n) unconsciously muttered.

Ryuu's mom chuckled, "Oh how nice of you! I try to keep it all clean and elegant. It's nice to have someone compliment my hard work!"

Before (Y/n) could check out the house any further a rather annoying voice came from the top of the stairs,
"Mom, who was at the door?"

The two women turned their gaze up the mahogany stairs and towards a hunched over 17 year old who's  using a nearby wooden beam to support his weight.

"Ryuu! You should be in bed! Oh and Ms. (L/n) is here~! She came to drop off some paperworks! It's nice to meet at least one of your friends that's a girl~."

(Y/n) awkwardly shuffled in her stance as she looked away from Ryuu's now piercing stare.

"Oh it's you, tsk." Ryuu muttered causing his mother to huff at him.

Ryuu began to walk towards his room again, but before he could get out if view a small shoe like object flew up the stairs and collided with his messy blonde hair causing him to tumble on the floor.

Ryuu growled before looking at the shoe, to which also gave (Y/n) time to examine the object only to find out it was her own shoe; a brown loafer, the size only for a girl in high school.

(Y/n)'s eyes widened when she came to realize the object was her own shoe and when she shifted up she met Ryuu's cold glare causing chills to roll up her spine.

Putting her hands up and began shaking it in hopes it will convince the raging teen that she wasn't the one who threw the shoe. Eventually the two teens realized the only other person who could have thrown the shoe and looked towards the older lady who was currently shaking her head in disappointment in her son.

"Now I've taught you manners Ryuu. Just cause you're sick doesn't mean you have an excuse to not use them."

The two teens remained shocked at the womens odd behavior before Ryuu sighed and walked into his room slamming the door shut.

Ryuu's mother gave a defeated sigh before looking towards the young school girl, "I'm so sorry about his behavior. (Oh and about your shoe)"

(Y/n) let out a small giggle, "The shoe's fine ma'am, but I really must give this to him." she said gesturing towards the stack of papers in her hand.

The elder lady smiled before giving a small gasp, "Oh where are my manners?! Come on in. Lets' get you to the kitchen and get you some tea."

Before (Y/n) can refuse she was suddenly grabbed by the hand and gently pushed towards the kitchen.

Once entering the kitchen (Y/n) took the time to look around. The kitchen, just like the house, was very big. There was white marble tiles that adored the floor and the cabinets seemed to be made from the finest wood, and then there was a clear glass that showed the backyard which held a small playground.

'I wonder why they still have a kids playground in the back if Ryuu is almost a college student..' the girl thought.

Eventually she found herself sitting at the rather huge (like the house) dinning table. Soon enough a tea cup was settled down in front of her on the wood table as she smelled the thick aroma of (what she guessed) jasmine tea.

Ryuu's mother sat next to the high school girl before pulling up her own cup of tea to her mouth.

"So tell me how'd you and my son meet? Oh how hold are you? Grade?! Oh my I'm sorry I'm just very excited to talk to Ryuu's friends. He never lets me." Hinata muttered causing the girl near to smile at the youthful women.

"Satoshi-san I-" before (Y/n) could finish the elder lady cut her off,

"Please! Call me Hinata~!" The lady smiled as (Y/n) smiles awkwardly.

She really was liking this lady, How did Ryuu-senpai turn out so.... rude?!

"I'm a first year actually, and I just met Ryuu-Senpai by chance, but we're not friends. He's also my tutor."

"Sounds like the beginning of a romance novel~!"

(Y/n) nearly spit out her tea, but gained self control and gulped the tea down.

"It really isn't that way ma'am!"

Hinata chuckled, "I always wanted a daughter to be honest. Boys are so much trouble."

"Oh. Are you a virgin~?" Hinata suddenly asked causing (Y/n) to actually spit out her drink to her side only to find that a person appeared to be next to her.

Unfortunately it was too late and the tea had been spitted all over the towering person.

"Mom!" A gruff voice scolded the old lady who was only laughing.

"Ah Ryuu you're up! Me and your girlfriend were talking."

"We're not dating." Ryuu said, 'unfortunately'.

(Y/n) didn't join the conversation as she was blushing and wiping herself off. Ryuu grunted when he grasped (Y/n)'s arm pulling her up and began to drag her away from his mothers gaze.

"He-Hey Ryuu what the fuck!?" (Y/n) growled as she kept getting dragged by the male who responded with a silence only to aggravate the girl more.

Eventually they walked their way towards the stairs only for (Y/n) attempted to yank her hand back, "Hell no I'm not going to your room!"

Ryuu grunted and yanked her arm so she would fall into his chest, and while she was still flustered he lifted her up off her feet and walked up the stairs.

Once on top of the stairs Ryuu set her down before he once again grabbed her wrist then walking to a room. Closing the door Ryuu looked at (Y/n) with a glare.

(Y/n) sweat dropped as she looked around his rather bland room, a messy bed, and melted ice packs in the trash can.

"You're a lot of trouble you know. What'd you need?" Ryuu growled only to break his stoic facade as he began to cough hysterically, holding his hand over his chest as he leaned on the wall before falling.

(Y/n) panicked as she set down her bag quickly and running over to Ryuu, grabbing one of his arms and holding it around her, "I need your help Ryuu."

Ryuu tsk'd, but nodded as he use the rest of his energy to help pick up his body. Slowly the pair made their way towards Ryuu's messy bed, and (Y/n) helped Ryuu settle down on the bed.

(Y/n) sat on her knees as she watched Ryuu breath heavily with his face appearing that of pain. She leaned closer to Ryuu's body and put her hand on top of his forehead only to pull it back at the unexpected heat.

Looking around the room (Y/n) found a stack of medical supplies on his desk. Getting up she looked over the supplies then began grabbing a fresh small towel and a thermometer before heading back over to Ryuu's figure.

She placed the thermometer into Ryuu's mouth, making sure it's placed in correctly, before she shuffled towards her bag. Once she reached her bag she dug in it to find her unopened, cold, water bottle.

Opening it she grabbed the small cloth and poured the water onto the cloth. Closing the water bottle she made her way back to Ryuu's bed before placing the cloth on his forehead.

Looking back at the thermometer she raised her eyebrows as she took it out and examined the temperature again.

100.4 F flashed on the stick.

"Damm Ryuu. You're hot!" (Y/n) the girl yelled as she placed it down.

"Th-Thank you. Do I win the bet~?" Ryuu smirked.

(Y/n) face-palmed as she sat back down on her knees and adjusted Ryuu's figure before placing his blanket over him.

As the girl was helping Ryuu basically get tucked in his hazel eyes watched her figure. It's a good thing that Ryuu's face was already flushes red, because (Y/n) seemed to have just shined at that moment causing Ryuu's heart to stop beating for a second.

Once she spoke Ryuu was knocked out of his daze, "Sorry I wasn't paying attention, what'd you say?"

The girl growled as she blushes, "Don't make me say it again.. I said I'm sorry... for making you walk home in the rain."

Ryuu's heart fluttered at her blushing state, knowing he caused her reddened.

"Ah~ my little kouhai is apologizing, how cute."

Before Ryuu knew it he had been whacked (softly) across the head.

"Anyways.. I got your paperwork."

Putting the papers on his desk (Y/n) grabbed her bag before she began to adjust her skirt when she stood up.

"I expect you to be at school tomorrow." She muttered causing Ryuu to smile.

"Awww does my little Kouhai miss me?"

Rolling her eyes she headed to the door, "Next time
you're sick don't expect me to come around to help. One time thing."

"I never expected you to be the tsundere type puppet."

The girl looked back at him, "A what? Anyways get better... I'll tell your mom your temperature and such."

Before Ryuu could make another snide comment the girl walked out the door before slamming causing him to jump sightly.

"You're so cute (Y/n)-chan~..." Ryuu sighed as he looked at the ceiling, "What's this feeling I have whenever she appears?"
