Chapter 2: The first year of the last year

The beautiful chirping of birds were heard from the open window as the sun shined in creating a shadow of a young teenage girl who leaned on her left foot in front of the beige front door as she attempted to put on her brown loafers. Once the shoes were settled nicely on her feet she grabbed her brown school bag and fixed her tie on her tan-like based school uniform.

Opening the front door of her apartment she stepped outside before turning back around to close the door, but she paused for a second once she looked at the empty lonely room. She grunted in annoyance and slammed the front door shut, locking it. (Y/n) walked down the rusty old stairs of the small apartment complex; every step she took on the steps caused a squeak, each one louder than the other. She glided her left hand down the rail as to make sure she didn't fall, but she quickly pulled her hand away once she felt the rails chipped paint and dirty surface.

Once her feet reached the bottom of the stairs she turned left towards the corner of the sidewalk like she did every day since school had started. What had changed her morning routine was a familiar tall third-year student wearing the simple white button-up shirt with a bright tan cardigan over it and the regular black suit pants. The third years body was slanted against the apartment buildings red beam as the sun perfectly complimented his features.

(Y/n) would call the male attractive, but once she notice the smirk on the young males face and the fact he ruined her first year of high school changed that.

She sighed, rolled her big (eye colored) eyes, and attempted to walk pass him, but unfortunately for her he caught sight of her and began following her.

"Ah~! (Y/n)-chan, Good Morning~!" The dork skipped his way towards the already annoyed girl.

"Get away Satoshi-senpai." She basically hissed out as she turned another corner.

Ryuu simply chuckled at the girls response, "So you live in a junk apartment? Where's your family?"

"None of your business pussy lover." The girl scoffed and walked ahead.

"Ah... Touchy subject I'm guessing. Wait pussy lover? I don't think I have a thing for cats, my puppet~" Ryuu laughed out in his flirty voice, tempting the girl.

"You know what I meant dickwad."

"What's up with you and your nicknames?"

"I should ask you the same thing. What do you call me?" The girl generally pondered, "Poppet?"

"It's puppet. Since you, like everyone else, is my puppet."

The girl scoffed for the twentieth time that morning as she kept her eyes ahead of her as her face frowned in annoyance, "Yeah never going to happen."

"At least you're actually talking to me today~!" Ryuu hummed mockingly.

"How is it that every single thing you do could piss me off?" The girls hand formed a fist, "Wait, how'd you even know where I live? Creepy stalker"

Ryuu slightly grew angry at the 'stalker' remark, but shook it off.

"I followed you home yesterday." Wait that sounded stalkerish, "Only because I live around this dumb shack, but in the actual housing area."

The girl winced, "Oh you live in the rich people district basically."

Ryuu nodded with a smirk, "If you ever need some food or actual bedding I can let you-"

Before Ryuu could finish the girl 'accidentally' stomped on his foot, which didn't hurt him at all but it surprised him. What hurt him was what had came after the stomp, she angrily threw her knee up the males groin.

"What the fuck!?" Ryuu groaned and leaned over.

The girl turned around and looked at the blonde boy as a smile formed on her face. Usually she was a quiet girl who actually cared for people, but when she saw Ryuu in pain it only made her proud rather than feel guilty.

Ryuu's hands were placed on his knees as he embraced the pain and hoped it would go away soon. His hazel eyes looked up to the girl who hit him to see her retreating form: leaving him. After a few minutes Ryuu stood up as he looked at the spot she was last seen by him, 'Never had a girl ever done that to me, much less any one.'

Sighing Ryuu stood up in pain and continued his way towards the school as he grunted in displeasure with one thing on his mind.

He will make her regret doing that.

-

(Y/n) reached the school within ten minutes of leaving Ryuu down on the floor. She grinned once she reached the school and sighed, for once, in relief. Her eyes roamed the courtyard of the school in attempts to find her two friends, she quickly spotted a tall red head ahead.

"Hey Rin!"

The red head turned around irritation clear on her face. Right next to her was a small blonde with curly pigtails.

"Ah! There's (Y/n)-chan Rin-Chan!" Kyoko chirped.

"You don't need to yell in my ear Kyo. I'm right next to you." Rin growled as her and the little blonde walked towards the entrance to see their (hair colored) friend waiting for them patiently.

"My name is not Kyo! It's Kyoko!" Kyoko pouted as she made an attempt to seem freighting.

Rin ignored the young girl and continued to walk forward until the three met under an oak tree,

"Where's your boyfriend?"

(Y/n) tilted her head at Rin's remark, "Who?"

Before Rin could reply Kyoko beat her to it with a squeal, "Oh my God are you and Ryuu-sama dating?! I'm so jealous!"

The girls (eye color) eyes widened before she hit the blondes head making the blonde cry, "You idiot don't say it out loud! And I would never date a player like him!"

Rin smirked as she looked in her friends eyes, "Sure sure~"

"Rin if you keep saying that I will actually hit you."

The red head sighed and dropped the smirk, but created a small smile. "Fine. I'll just tease about how flat chested you are then."

"Oh shut up! I'm regular! Compared to you guys I am flat! Anywa-"

With a 'Ding Dong' that resonated from the school students began pouring into classrooms to start the school day.

"Alright (Y/n)-chan we'll see you on the roof for lunch!" Kyoko chirped as she quickly recovered from the hit bestowed upon her.

"Do-Don't leave me! You guys!" (Y/n) yelled out as she ran towards the entrance of the school, not noticing a pair of hazel eyes behind her watching her movement.

-

(Y/n) stretched in her chair as the lunch bell rang. After she leaned back in her chair with her hands held up high she let out a breath of air. She leaned over and grabbed her black bento from her bag and got up towards the door only to notice it to be crowded. Usually by the time she leaves class for lunch the hallways are usually empty. (Y/n) stuck her head out of the door and saw a familiar blonde haired boy with black thick glasses surrounded by girls, a nice smile plastered on his face.

The girl froze before slipping her head back into the classroom, 'good thing there is two doors.' She thought as she rushed towards the other door that was wide open. Her white indoor shoes tapped against the hallway floor as she walked up towards the roof.

'To think I got lost on the first week of school heading towards the roof. All I needed to do was keep going up! How the hell did I get lost? Did fate decide to be a complete dick and let me get lost so I had to meet Ryuu-senpai!?' she thought as her right hand grabbed the silver door handle, turned it then pushed forward.

Almost automatically the wind had greeted her as it blew her (hair colored) hair in her face making her momentarily blind. (Y/n) huffed once she cleared her face from her hair and walked towards the corner of the roof to meet her friends.

Once she entered the little hiding area, since it was behind a vent, she sat down in between Kyoko and Rin who watched her settle down.

"Took you long enough to get here." Rin harshly said as she used her chopsticks to scoop up a group of rice and placed it in her mouth.

(Y/n) rolled her eyes, "I got delayed, because I hate crowds and the hallways were still crowded since there was a certain fuckboy in front of my classroom."

Kyoko's ears perked up once she heard 'fuckboy', "You guys are so mean to him! He's the most gentle cutest guy I have ever met! Last week, when Rin skipped school, I was walking down the stairs and tripped! Guess who caught me!?"

"Let me guess..... Ryuu-senpai..." (Y/n) rolled her eyes.

"Yes! He caught me and when I looked into his beautiful hazelnut eyes my heart just stopped! He truthfully is prince charming! I kept saying I was fine, but he took me to the nurse anyway!"

(Y/n) nearly wanted to throw up and Rin simply shrugged as she poured her orange soda down her throat.

"Ryuu-senpai isn't all that great. You know yesterday-" (Y/n) was about to spill the dirt, but got interrupted.

"Ah there you are (Y/n)-san!" The girls turned around as they looked in the direction of the new voice.

"R-Ryuu-sama!" Kyoko yelped as her face turned into a tomato.

"What do you want dork-face?" (Y/n) said with a monotone voice as she picked at her meal.

"Hah you're so funny (Y/n)! You said I can have lunch with you remember?" Ryuu smiled and sat down next to the heroine of the story.

(Y/n) scooted closer to Rin, as to put distance between her and Ryuu, but when Rin noticed this she angrily pushed her friend away from the close contact causing (Y/n) to be pushed into Ryuu making him smirk in satisfaction.

"I don't remember shit Ryuu-Senpai" she hissed out.

"You should watch your mouth (Y/n) It's really disrespectful, if you speak that way to your elders you might get punished." Ryuu hummed as he teasingly picked off (Y/n)'s food.

"What are you implying at you pedo?" (Y/n) glared at her senpai as she yanked her yakisoba away from the male.

"You're such a pervert (Y/n)! A first year like you shouldn't think that way." And with that Ryuu ruffled his hand into her hair.

"Get lost playboy!" (Y/n) hissed loudly causing the other occupants on the roof to look their way.

"So much for that hiding spot.."Rin sighed as she crushed her soda and threw it towards the (hair color) girl which hit her right in the middle of her forehead causing (Y/n)'s to bounce back.

"What the hell was that for Rin!?" (Y/n) flared up as she held her forehead.

"Stop yelling at our guest! And just stop yelling. It's attracting un-wanted attention." Rin sighed before she looked at Kyoko, "Hey Kyo can you and Ryuu go get something from the infirmary?"

Before Ryuu could oppose the short haired girl abruptly stood up causing her blonde curls to bounce and pulled Ryuu up by his hand, "Of course!"

(Y/n) watched the two leave through the metal doors she turned back towards her friend. "What the fuck Rin?!"

Once her (eye color) eyes met with her friends serious green eyes causing (Y/n) to grow confuse as she tried to search for an ounce of mischief in those eyes, but failed.

"There's something wrong with him." Rin claimed as she held the serious look, "I don't know how to tell, but I just know. Stay away from him."

(Y/n) felt relieved that at least one of her closest friends can tell something was off with Ryuu, "First I'd like to say: I told you so. And secondly I can't. It's hard to explain, but you know the day I got lost? That's when I met him and accidentally crashed into him and his friends. At first they didn't notice me and I unconsciously listened to their conversation. Ryuu admitted to his fake nice appearance and said he played with a lot of girls, but the girls are too afraid to say anything. And then I got caught and when I did he automatically changed into a nice guy and showed me the way to the roof."

(Y/n) stopped to take a breath and before she could continue Rin intervened, "What does that have to do with you staying with me?"

The girl glared at her friend, "If you let me continue... Well eventually I tried to ignore him, because he kept trying to get to me and that's when I yelled at him. He followed me home and broke the act in front of me. He made me do a bet, or a game as he likes to call it, and threatened me. In a month if I don't fall in love with him then I win and he'll leave me alone."

Rin sat there criss-crossed her elbows rested on them while holding up her head. She continued to glare at the floor in deep thought. Her mouth opened to speak up, but closed when her eyes shifted to look behind (Y/n).

"We're back. We just got a wet paper towel for your head." Kyoko said with a smile on her face and she kneeled down to her friend on the floor and patted her forehead.

"I didn't want to bother the nurse too much, so I thought it would be a good idea to just do this instead" Ryuu said with a closed eye smile.

'Two-faced bastard' (Y/n) thought as she glared at the male who opened his hazel eyes to meet hers. The girl sweat-dropped when Ryuu had looked into her eyes with warning, 'Did he hear me tell Rin about the situation!?'

Rin noticed the look Ryuu was giving to (Y/n) before she coughed gaining everyone's attention, "Hey lunch time is almost over. We should get cleaned up."

The three of them nodded as they agreed with Rin. Kyoko stopped patting (Y/n)'s forehead which no longer looked red and began to clean up her meal.

By the time the group was done cleaning up and throwing their trash away the bell had already rung. Once the four of them walked to a set of stairs going downwards they parted goodbyes.

"You coming with us (Y/n)?" Kyoko asked when she took a step down the stairs before looking back to her friend.

(Y/n) was about to take a step forward to walk with her friends, but a strong grip on her wrist pulled her back. She frowned and looked behind her to see Ryuu holding onto her wrist.

"I want to walk with her. Is that alright?" Ryuu's eyes looked into Kyokos eyes as if they were talking telepathically.

"Of course! See you after school!" Kyoko smiled widely and yanked Rin down the stairs before Rin can support her friend.

"H-Hey!" (Y/n) watched her friends descend down the stairs leaving her with the boy of her nightmares.

She turned around abruptly causing her hair to smack her in the face. When she took her hair out of her face she glared at Ryuu who looked down at her in a smirk.

"What the hell?"

"(Y/n)-chan you need to work on your language~!" Ryuu's face quickly turned into a frown when he looked down at her, "What were you telling Rin?"

(Y/n) took a step back Ryuu's face since she hadn't seen him make a disturbing unhappy look like that before. Shifting her eyes (Y/n)'s back hit the wall and was eventually caved in by the taller boy.

"Cause you know if you told her about our little game.... You will be punished.. and so will she." Ryuu whispered into her ear causing a shiver to go down her spine, "Do you understand?"

(Y/n) reluctantly nodded and once Ryuu received the reaction he wanted he backed off with a pleased smile.

"Let's get you to class!" Ryuu took (Y/n)'s wrist into his big hand and walked her downstairs to the first year classrooms.

-

"Stand. Bow. Stand" The voice of the class president ordered the class as they followed the orders and eventually watched their teacher leave the class room.

Once the teacher left (Y/n) sat back down in her seat and waited for the rest of the students to leave the classroom.

'Taking a small rest wouldn't hurt..." She thought and laid her head down into her arms.

-

"Where the fuck is that girl?" Ryuu groaned as he leaned against the schools gate.

Lifting up his phone he looked at the time, 'Where the hell is she?! She's making me wait twenty minutes.'

Ryuu growled and turned to walk into the direction of her house, but before he walked any further he noticed a (hair colored) girl resting her head on her desk through a window into the classroom.

He stopped in his steps and smirked as he walked back towards the school. Once he reached the classroom his (Y/n) inhabited.

'Wait. His (Y/n)? What the hell Ryuu?!' He frowned at the thought to himself.

Reaching the door he slid the door open and looked down at the girl who softly snored making himself smile.

He walked closer towards the young girl and kneeled down beside her to reach her height. His eyes softened as he watched her sleep. Her face appeared peaceful, her mouth was slightly opened, and her chest heaved up and down as she breathed.

She was peaceful.

'Let's take a picture for blackmail...' Ryuu convinced himself as he took his silver iPhone out and snapped a few pictures of her sleeping form.

"Now how should I wake you up puppet?" He hummed as he unconsciously played with her hair before he smirked then stood up and placed his hands on either side of her desk before shaking the desk violently.

"(Y/n) wake up! There's an Earthquake!" He yelled as he held back his laughter once he saw her jump up from her seat.

Ryuu stopped shaking the desk once he noticed the girl jump onto him like a cat who just got spooked.

"What!?" She yelped as she dug her face into his shirt which, for the first time in his life, made him blush from the unexpected action of the girl.

Unfortunately the blush he held faded away when he noticed (Y/n) pushed him off of her and landed on the floor.

(Y/n) face flashed red as she glared at Ryuu as she got off the floor and dusted herself off from the invisible dust.

Ryuu continued to laugh out at the girls reaction, but once he noticed the girl began to leave the room he stopped and held her back. After he collected himself he looked at the girl who continued to glare at him with a cherry red face.

"What do you want jerkface?" she hissed out as she tried to yank her wrist out of his grip, but he remained strong.

Ryuu's heart leaped when he saw her blushing self. Shaking his head to get rid of the thoughts before speaking, "I was waiting for you after school. You took to long puppet! Lets' go now."

He pulled her with him down the stairs and towards the school gates which had now been closed and locked.

"Fuck. Hmmmm ready to jump the gate dearie?" he laughed causing the girl to scoff.

"Sounds fun lets' do it!" She smiled.

Ryuu's heart lifted when she smiled, not for anyone else but him.

A smile that was only meant for him.

"Need help?" He asked as he watched her near the gate.

Before he could make a snarky remark he watched the girl run up the wall and jump the fence then landed perfectly on her two feet.

She turned around and smirked at him, "What are you waiting for? Puppet?"
