Chapter 5
Sky POV~
Ty touched his head phones, and suddenly all I could hear was a screeching noise. In an instant, Ty was next to me, covering my ears. He turned to check on Mitch and Jerome, and saw that they were covering their ears. I could still hear a small bit of screeching, but it wasn't so loud that it was hurting my ears anymore. After a few more minutes, Ty mouthed to me that he was going to remove his hands. I nodded slightly, and got ready to cover my ears. The instant his hands left my head, the screeching was back in all of its glory, and I quickly covered my ears again.
Ty reached up to his headphones, and hit a small button that I hadn't seen before. The now-muffled screeching stopped, and I cautiously removed my hands from my ears.
"What was that?" Mitch asked Ty.
"Why'd you do that?" Jerome asked at the same time.
"That was a high-pitched sound output from my headphones. I have programmed the frequency to knock out humans who didn't cover their ears, and kill any squids. Which leads to why I turned them on." Ty walked to the window and pointed. We followed him, and I gasped.
Dead squids were everywhere. There was one hanging from the window frame, where it had been climbing in, and a bunch more at the hole in the dome.
"It appears that they followed you all here." Ty remarked. "I will join your crew, because it is my duty to protect you. Also, it looks like you will need all the help you can get."
"That's great!" I exclaimed. I was grinning from ear to ear by now. While Ty grabbed his things and turned off all of the traps, lazers, and the dome, I suddenly thought of something.
"The others! They're out there!" I exclaimed. Ty, hearing what I said, hurried over to a trapdoor in the floor.
"Come on." He said. Ty opened the trap door, and I noticed that it was a slide... carved out of the tree branch?!
He swung himself through and slide down, going out of sight.
After hesitating for a moment, I went down after him. When the slide spat me out, I landed in a pile of leaves. Ty was nowhere to be seen.
"Ty?" I called hesitantly, moving away from the mouth of the slide. Suddenly, I was pounced on from behind. I heard a laugh, and turned to see Ty hanging on to me. Just as he let go, still laughing, Mitch and Jerome came out of the slide. Of course they would go down together. They were giggling like crazy.
Once they got out, we headed off to where the others had been stuck in traps. When we arrived, we saw them in the middle of a ton of dead squids.
"What happened?" I asked Ant.
"The squids came out of nowhere a few minutes after everyone was out of the traps. They came after us on all sides, and a ton of them went on top of and into the dome. Then all the ones on and closest to the dome dropped dead. Then you guys showed up after we killed the rest of them." Ant finished. He was looking at Ty as if it was his fault that the squids had attacked.
"Ant, it's not Deadlox's fault. In fact, he's the one who made the squids drop dead with a screeching sound from his head phones." I informed him. Ant's eyes widened and he murmured an apology before running off to talk to Jordan. It looked like no one was injured.
"Everyone, I have an announcement!" I yelled, and they all turned to me.
"Deadlox has agreed to join our crew! Turns out he is part of the family that used to guard the royal family."
Everyone was grinning by that point, including me. "And, now we can go back to the ship!" We had taken a newly finished ship when we left 2 years ago, and we still hadn't given it a name.
"Yaaaayyyyy!!!!" Everyone cheered, especially Jason. He was eager to get back to Seto.
"Wait... Sky we need to get through the village to go to the port. Won't the villagers notice that Deadlox wasn't with us before?" Jordan pointed out.
"...I hadn't thought of that." I said.
"I think I know what to do." Ty spoke up. "You guys had a job to do, and that was to capture me. Well, you can tie me up, bring me in, get their money, and then I can break out and go to the port. Someone can meet me there and guide me to the ship. Then we can leave, and no one will know. Besides, if I escape, the villagers will think I went back to protecting the forest, so they won't touch it."
"That... is... BRILLIANT!!!!" Quentin exclaimed.
"This guy is crafty." Kermit added.
"Well, lets get started. It's almost nighttime, so you can break out when it's dark." I told Ty, and he nodded. "Just be careful, ok?"
"Ok, mom." Ty answered sarcastically, and then he walked over to the others so they could tie him up. He is so brave and cute... wait, cute? Whatever. I must be really tired.
~TARDIS time skip cuz no one wants to read about horse riding~
We reached the village, and I pulled Ty off of where he had been slung on the front of my saddle. He had thought it would be more convincing if he didn't have his own horse and if he was with the leader of the group.
"Halt! State your business!" A guard yelled to us from the gate. I don't know why this place has a gate, I mean it's just a little village.
"We have returned with the spirit of the forest as requested." I called back. The guards nodded and opened the gate for us. We went through, and headed over to the town hall, where we were supposed to meet the village leader when we returned. I pulled Ty through the door, holding him by his shirt collar. Mitch, Jerome and Jason followed me. The receptionist let us into the leader's office right away when she saw us. When we walked in, the leader looked up at us from a stack of documents.
"Ahhh, Sky. I presume that is the 'spirit'." The leader said.
"Indubitably." I replied, earning a smile from Mitch and Jerome. It was one of their favorite phrases.
"Good, good. I expect you want you payment." The leader continued.
"That would be great." I told him, and he nodded. He reached into his desk and pulled out a sack of coins.
"Here you are. 400 gold nuggets and 200 iron ingots." The leader said, and I had to restrain myself from screaming "ITS BUDDER NOT THE G WORD!!!!" at him.
"Thanks." I said, taking the sack and dropping Ty to the floor. A couple of guards ran over and grabbed him, dragging him out of sight.
"So, is there anything else you need? If not, I shall have to request that you leave. I'm a busy man." The leader said, sitting down behind his desk again. We all turned and left the room.
"Come on guys, let's go buy some supplies." I told them, and we went to the market. Everyone else had gone back to the ship without us.
