Chapter 1
Maria and her brother were well known on the ocean as the devils of the seven seas. Gilbert was a better tracker than Maria, but Maria was a better thief and fighter out of the two. She was sent to the port of one of the British Isles to steal a charm that an infamous pirate named Arthur was known to have. She pinned up her hair under her hat so that she wouldn't stand out and catch too much attention. there was a reason her brother and herself were known as devils or spawns of satan. It was because they were albino, which was something they couldn't help, their silver almost white hair and red blue eyes stood out amongst normal people. Some of the crew members on Arthur's ship were loading the ship with cargo and supplies, she was able to sneak on board with ease, but now she had to get to the Captain's chambers, that was the problem. There were several crew members on the deck of the ship, an unusual amount for a pirate of any stature. Why did he have so many crew members? That charm must be very valuable. She thought as a smirk played across her lips. She did her best to sneak by, but just as soon as her fingertips touched the brass knob of the door to the Captain's quarters she had been spotted. She drew her sword from the protection of it's sheath and closed her eyes, hoping that they might think she was just a weird person instead of a 'Devil'. she used her hearing to help fight off some of the crew members, it worked until they all started attacking her at once. One of the crew members managed to slice her right cheek open while another ended up cutting the back of her hat as she dodged the attack to her best ability, however much to her dismay, her silver tinted white hair fell from the opening in her hat, falling down to the middle of her back. She fought back a bit more before she was finally captured, a tsk noise escaping from her lips as she was more or less forced into a cell in the lower half of the ship and cuffed to the wall. Quite a few of the crew kicked and cursed and hit her, leaving dark bruises upon her face and other areas of her body hidden by clothing, it wasn't the first time she had her ass pretty much handed to her, and most certainly more than likely would not tbe the last. After hearing their Captain's boots against the wood of the ship's deck they left Maria in the cell slamming the door as they walked to the deck to salute and greet their Captain, who was none other than Arthur Kirkland himself. His blonde shaggy, messy hair hidden somewhat under his hat, his red coat hung from his shoulders and flowed from his movements as he walked over to his cabin, but before he had the chance to walk in, one of his crew members approached him, he was younger than the rest but only by a few years. He had bright blue eyes, and a cowlick stuck up in his dirty blonde hair. "We caught an intruder sneaking on the ship Cap!" One of the devils." He said in a serious tone. Arthur stared at him in shock at his report. "Alright, thank you Alfred." Arthur stated and walked down below deck to the cell to see if the news was true. And it was. Arthur opened the cell and sat on a nearby barrel, a cigar hanging out of his mouth. "What do we have here?" He asked looking down at Maria, in which she didn't bother to look at him, she was rather stubborn. "You think you can sneak onto my ship without getting caught eh?" He said questioningly. However he narrowed his eyes at her as a chuckle escaped her mouth, despite her current predicament she had a smirk planted on her face. "Oh this is a ship? My bad. I thought it was a row boat. Silly me." She stated rather cockily. Arthur stood with a rather annoyed sigh and roughly shoved her against the wall with the heel of his boot, putting pressure against her shoulder causing her to wince and gasp out in pain. He clutched the cigar in his hand and blew a puff of smoke in her face, her nose scrunched up from the stench. "I won't hesitate to slit your throat." He stated in a calm manner, "Now start behavin'" Maria gritted her teeth, glaring at him from her bangs, preventing her eyes from being seen, however she smirked and merely laughed. "Go ahead..slit my throat. I don't give a damn. She stated. Arthur narrowed his eyes at her and gave her a kick to the gut, knocking the air out of her, leaving her coughing in gasps as he sat back down on the barrel once again to continue his interrogation, much to his dismay he wasn't getting hardly anywhere with her. "Are you going to tell me why you snuck onto my ship?" He asked demandingly and highly impatient as he adjusted the bandages around his hands from a recent burn incident. "I don't have much to spare." He said sarcastically with a smug grin. Maria chuckled, "I can't say I remember." She hummed highly amused, she quite enjoyed teasing with this man, sure she did the same to others when she had been caught, but for some reason she found much more amusement with Arthur. He pressed the burning end of his cigar into her leg to put it out before tossing it to the side as Maria hissed at the burn. "Tell me." He said menacingly. "Nein." She stated stubbornly, "This is nothing compared to what I've been through." She continued. Yes, she had been through much, much worse. "I would like to know, why did you sneak onto my ship?" He asked sternly. Maria turned her head, her eyes closed hiding their color from him. He huffed annoyed then looked down at the pendant hanging form his neck, the green gem on it shining as he twisted it between his fingers before looking back at Maria grabbing her chin and forcefully turning her head towards him as he held up the pendant and got closer to her. "Was it for this?" He asked but she stubbornly kept her eyes closed. He glared at her and smacked her in the face. "Open your eyes dammit!" He growled. Maria sat there for a moment before looking up at him through her bangs, her eyes much more noticeable now. She glared at him with bright blood red eyes, pools of aqua tinted amongst the red. "Tch." Arthur paused before standing back a few paces, setting himself down on the barrel again, this time leaning closer to Maria. He reached up and removed his eye patch revealing a large scar that ran over his right eye, he was blind in that eye, the once bright beautiful emerald green now faded to a dull shade. "Was I right?" He stared at her. Maria had to admit it creeped her out a little, giving her a few chills down her spine. "I'm not going to ask again, why did you sneak onto my ship?" He asked sternly. "Bite me." Maria spat ignoring his question. Arthur got up angrily and drew a knife from his boot and brought it down on her foot causing her to throw her head back and scream out in pain as beads of sweat ran down her face as she did her best to endure the pain. He pulled out the knife once he was sure it had gone all the way through, "That'll slow you down if you try to escape." He stated crouching down a bit more to get to her eye level, brushing her bangs out of her face to see if she had her eyes open, though they weren't much to his dismay. Why would they? She was in pain. Unsatisfied, he pressed the tip of his blade against her neck until it penetrated the skin a little bit, causing only a small amount of blood to ooze from the now open wound under his blade. "I told you I wasn't going to ask again." He growled. Maria glared at him and spat at his face, "Why should I tell you. It isn't any of your damn business." She stated. "Of course it's my business." He said and tilted his head to the side subtly, glancing down at the knife before running the edge of the blade across her throat making the wound even larger, it wasn't enough to kill her, but it would most definately scar over. "If you're on my ship, then it's my business. I'm the Captain afterall." He said and stood up taking a step back, placing the knife back in his boot. "I suggest you keep your mouth shut until I return or the crew might start taking a liking to you." He said putting his eye patch back on. Maria chuckled quietly, "Aw how sweet of you to think people would like me." She smirked. "Keep that attitude up and nobody will." He stated before walking out of the cell and going up to the deck, and retreating to his quarters to take a brief nap.
Maria chuckled to herself as he left. She sat there for a while before one of the crew members came into the cell, bringing her some food. It was a male maybe in his early 20's, not much older than Alfred. He had a few freckles on his face and brown messy, wavy hair. Maria smiled to herself, a plan forming in her head. She noticed she never saw him on deck, judging from his appearance he was more than liekly the cook. She decided to put her plan into action, using a few fake tears, she started crying and whimpering like a poor dmasel in distress, hoping to get his attention. And it worked. Once he was close enough she wrapped her legs around his neck, a smirk playing across her lips as she saw his concerned expression turn into utter shock, and with one swift move, despite her weakened state, she snapped his neck and his body went lip. She pulled the keys out of his pocket with her foot, the task was rather hard. Sure women were more flexible than men in some cases, but hell, she wasn't elastigirl. She grasped the keys and got the cuffs off of her wrists, she changed into the man's clothes, they were a bit big on her but it had to do for now. She ripped some of her clothes to bind her chest and bandage some of her worse wounds. She then pinned up her hair under a bandana the best she could in hurry and snuck back on deck carefully, and proceeded to act like the other crew members, to keep herself from getting caught again. Meanwhile, Arthur had woken up from his brief nap and walked out of his cabin, heading to the bow of the ship. He leaned against the edge of the railing of the ship, letting Alfred steer, which the boy was more than happy to. After a moment Arthur turned his head only to see a different member aboard, a little more feminine in shape, though they seemed to be doing something helpful so he shrugged it off for a few moments. However his curiosity got the best of him and he approached them, "What are you doing? You in a hurry?" He asked. Maria immediately flinched hearing Arthur's voice behind her as she stood in front of the large mast, she decided to play along, hoping he hadn't figured out that it was her. She cleared her throat and lowered her tone a bit so that she sounded a bit more manly. "I'm checking the sails sir. I'm not in any hurry, why do you ask sir? Is there something you'd like me to do for you?" She mentally gagged at her tone, there was no way he would fall for that. She didn't bother turning to look at him, she didn't want to blow her cover. She merely continued to tie the rope into a tight knot. "No...Continue what you're doing." He stated fairly suspicious of her, he then raised a large brow. "One question though, why aren't you fixing it?" He asked. Maria was dumbfounded, was the man blind in both eyes? And did he seriously not figure out she was obviously a girl? Wow, this one wasn't too bright was he? She decided to just continue and go along with it, "Fixing what sir? I just tightened this one, the others look secure." She stated. Arthur squinted and brushed it off letting out a "Pah" as he walked off, he kept an eye on her though. Maria smiled to herself, I'm on a boat full of suckers! Ha! Men are more stupid than I thought. She thought to herself rather amused. She went to walk around the deck a bit more, acting as if she were doing things. However a few minutes later her bubble of freedom busted as a crew member ran up on deck in a hurry and out of breath. "THE PRISONER HAS ESCAPED. AND SHE KILLED TIMMY!" He yelled. Maria bit her lip and hid behind the mast as several of the crew members rioted gathering around Arthur, awaiting his orders. Arthur immediately knew it was that person he had spoken to earlier and enforced he knew it, he noticed Maria had disappeared somewhere. He ordered his crew to go about their business as he was going to deal with this pest. He stormed over to the mast he had last seen her at and withdrew his sword, peering over the other side only to see her just standing there.
Maria was glancing over at the crowd of crew members but noticed Arthur was nowhere to be seen. "Where'd he go?" She whispered to herself before glancing behind her and withdrawing her sword from it's sheath, turning around immediately clashing her sword with his own hearing the screams from the metal blades struggling against each other. She smirked up at him, "Guess you're not all that stupid after all are ya Ace?" She stated removing her bandana, allowing her hair to fall. "Now how about you give me that cute little charm around your cute little neck and let me be on my way?" She said sweetly. Arthur swung his sword at her side, however she was too quick and blocked it, though she wasn't quick enough to avoid another swing as it nicked her shoulder just slightly as she had been able to block the attack from hurting her too badly. "You're good." He stated taking another swing. Maria chuckled at his words. "Flattery will get you nowhere with me doll face. Though I am the best fighter in my family." She stated swinging her sword at him and nicking his side as he barely blocked it. Arthur gritted his teeth before clashing his sword against hers, bring up his leg and kicking her side to distract her before jabbing at her stomach, not penetrating deep enough to cause bad enough damage, she had moved out of the way in time. She grabbed her side as she got up on her feet and laughed a bit as blood reddened her shirt. "You swing like my Oma...oh...wait...that's offensive to my Oma. Because she swings better than you." She said climbing up onto one of the sail posts and walked out onto the ledge. "Come on! Come and get me!" She yelled down at him with a wide amused, challenging grin as she laughed. Arthur gritted his teeth and followed her up the post, he pulled out his gun and shot at her, missing every single time, it didn't help that he had never trainer himself on using a gun, so his aim was horrible, leaving Maria laughing at him as he finally made it onto the ledge, tossing his gun away. He aimed his sword at her narrowing his eyes at her. "You're getting unbelievably cocky." He grumbled, swinging at her. Maria smiled and bowed at him for a second before jumping back and dodging one of his swings. "Danke! I try." She hummed pointing her sword at him and blocking his swings. He thrusted the sword at her chest, fed up with her childishness, however she dodged the attack by leaning back, the blade freeing her prisoned chest from it's bindings. She backed up standing straight, a large sliced opening on her shirt, revealing quite a bit of her chest. Arthur ignored the fact that he had accidentally ripped her binder, however he couldn't help the small blush on his face. He shook his head getting rid of the blush and angrily continued to swing at her, cutting her leg as he tried to knock her over. Nevertheless he fell back as he drew back his sword, stumbling a few paces. Maria noticed his stumble and took advantage and kicked him down onto his back on the ledge. She placed the hard heel of her boot on a burn scar on his chest and put pressure on it causing Arthur to wince. She pointed her sword at his throat with a vicious, sadistic smile upon her lips. "How does it feel. To be beaten by a young woman?" She asked thumping the tip of his hat as she leaned close to his face. "I could care less about gender." He gritted his teeth, though he knew his crew would never let him forget it. Maria smiled, amused by him and took the pendant from around his neck, then pressed a kiss to his forehead. "Thanks for the pendant! I had a blast!~" She said and ran over to the edge of the ledge before turning back to look at Arthur. She smiled and winked at him giving him a salute. "We should do this again sometime!~" She said and jumped into the water. Arthur got up immediately and reached out to grab her but he was too late. "Dammit wait! Give that back you bastard!" He yelled as he saw her break the water's surface for air. She merely smiled amusedly at him and waved before swimming back to shore. His ship was already too far out to go after her. He grumbled and went down to the brig to help his crew dispose of the body, however he saw something shining in the back of the cell where Maria had been previously held. He walked over and picked up the shining object, it was a pendant, much like the one he had before Maria took it, the only difference with this one was that the gem was blue. Not a boring blue. No. It was a bright blue, just like the blue in her eyes. He narrowed his eyes at the pendant, "I will find you.....And I'll have your head on a silver platter.." He vowed gripping the pendant.
