Chapter 9; Watching Eyes
~Watching Eyes~
"Tell me once more."
"No setting anything on fire."
"No killin' him."
"No fightin'...even though I want to..."
"No doing anything that will get us in trouble...by you..."
"No punching, kicking, biting, roaring, clawing, or breathing fire."
Lucy smiled, "Very good, boys, I'm proud of both of you."
Gray rolled his eyes.
Natsu pouted.
"And the most important one?"
Lucy eyed the boy's expectedly.
Black eyes met blue.
"Do not get discovered."
They both muttered as their answers.
Lucy let out a relieved breath, she didn't need to worry-that much-anymore.
"I'll be back soon, okay?" She told the boys as she slipped on her black cloak. "I'm just going to go out with Levy for a few hours." She smiled at them as she headed out the door.
"Remember what I have said!" She called out one last time before she closed her door behind her.
Lucy waited for a moment...
When she didn't hear any fighting from within her room, she turned, and headed down the stairs, through the halls, and out of the castle.
Once outside her home, she looked for her carriage that would take her and Levy into town. The person that would be driving the carriage was one of her other Guards, Taurus. There would also be a second Guard with her, Scorpio. Two of her best.
Loke wouldn't be here to protect her this time.
She didn't know why, but sometimes her Personal Guard would up, and disappear for days.
Nobody knew where he went and he wasn't about to quench their curiosity.
Not even for his favorite Princess either.
"Good mornin', Lady Lucy!" Her brawny Guard, Taurus, called out to her. "Don't you look lovely today." She smiled kindly at her broad Guard and took the hand that Scorpio, her slimmer second Guard, offered her. The Guard helped her into the carriage before he let her hand go. "Thank you, Scorpio." Lucy thanked him as she settled into her seat. Lucy giggled as the wild personality type Guard stuck out his tongue and stuck out two of his fingers and thumb.
"We are!" He shouted as his own way of saying 'your welcome'.
As Lucy sat back, she looked up to the castle that she called home. She hadn't informed her Father that she was going out to town. She hadn't told him for many reasons. One; Lucy didn't feel like wasting her time trying to get an audience with him. Second; she new he would throw a fit and berate her on her horrible decision to leave the safety of her suffocating home.
She sighed.
Her eyes wandered to where her balcony was located. Lucy's heart jumped in her chest. She just hoped that those two could keep it together. She had kindly asked the Strauss sisters to check up on the two boys every once and awhile. Just as a precaution...
Lucy sweatdropped.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea...
Just as she was about to lose her nerve and bolt back up to her room-a voice laced with honey called out to her.
"Lu-chan!" Lucy lifted her eyes to see Levy hurrying over to the carriage, a heavy book in her small hands, no doubt the reason for her lateness.
"Levy-chan!" Lucy waved to her friend as she skidded to a stop next to the carriage. She huffed out a long breath before smiling, "Sorry I'm late." Levy raised the massive book and eyed it. "You may already know the answer to my excuse."
The Princess chuckled before moving back to make room for her friend.
"Hop in."
Levy did just that.
Once the girls were settled, Scorpio gave the okay for Taurus to start up the horses. Then they were off.
To Harageon.

"Levy, I need to speak with you."
Lucy began timidly.
Their shopping day was complete and there hadn't been a single bad occurrence. Everything had gone smoothly. Lucy had even been able to get a few new books!
(Admittedly some were not for her, but for a certain pink Dragon who just loved pictures of other, more scarier Dragons)
Now here they sat, her and Levy, outside a café close to the bookstore they had just exited. The café was located on a small street called Strawberry Street with a bridge over a body of water. It was peaceful here. Lucy almost didn't want to leave.
To bad she felt nothing but agitation.
It is time, she decided. She was going to tell Levy about her scaly friend.
And pray that she didn't freak out...like Lucy herself had.
The Princess took a breath, let determination fill her, opened her mouth, and-
"I already met him."
Lucy blinked.
Once...
Twice...
"What?!"
Levy calmly took a sip of her tea as her Princess stared at her with wide brown eyes.
"Levy...you are going to have to give me more then that! How did you know that I-" Lucy looked around before leaning in closer. "That I had a Dragon in my room."
"Well," Levy began after she set her cup down. "After you told me you were looking for someone, I decided to search for that someone."
"I never told you it was a person..."
"You didn't have to," Levy smirked. "So anyway, I found him looking for the kitchen."
That damned boy! Lucy raged.
Levy smiled sweetly, "I also told him he should hide his wings."
"Thanks for reminding him," Lucy groaned as she banged her head down on the table. She heard her petite friend laugh. "I can't believe you didn't tell me you had a Dragon running around!"
"He's not supposed to be running around..." Lucy grumbled.
"He's quite nice, though."
Lucy eyed her friend, "How so?"
"Well," Levy said, "After he saw me, he asked where the kitchen was instead of eating me. Which I thought was very nice of him." The blue jay haired girl sweatdropped. "After what I said to him."
That perked Lucy's interest, "What did you say?"
Levy let out a nervous laugh, "I kinda yelled out an, "What are you!" When I first saw him..." The small girl slapped her hands on to her cheeks as they reddened. "I didn't mean to be so rude! It was just that I was so shocked and-"
"Levy-chan," Lucy's words were leaking with amusement. "What did he say?"
She hung her head, her blue hair covering her embarrassed looking face. "He looked at me with a dead panned look and huffed, "How rude, I'm clearly a Dragon."
Levy suddenly slammed her hands onto the table. "How can he say that so causally to a complete stranger?!"
The bookworm sat back in her seat. "I could have been a Guard! Or a assassin! Like Laxus and his team!" Levy shook her head, her hair flying.
"I could have reported him!" Levy looked up at her friend, who was barely containing her laughter. "Why are you laughing, Lu-chan?"
Lucy put a hand to her mouth to conceal her smile. "Sorry, Levy-chan, I can't help it! You are making me laugh." Levy paused, before also breaking into a fit of laughter.
It was all ridiculously funny.
How had this happened?
How had a freaking Dragon Boy entered her life? How had a Dragon ended up in her room and castle? How had a Dragon become her friend?
And how had a flying, blue cat named Happy, also enter the picture?
Lucy knew one thing though, she wouldn't want it to be any other way.
As Lucy began to explain her story, a shiver raced up her spine. She rolled her shoulders and pulled her cloak closer to her body. Goosebumps quickly spread over her body, making her hair stand on end. Her heart picked up its tempo, also noticing something off.
And that something had a name.
Danger.
Lucy's eyes strayed from Levy to instead glance all around them.
Her untrained eyes didn't pick up anything. But that didn't mean her senses didn't. Lucy wanted to believe that it was Scorpio keeping an eye on his Lady. He had promised her that he would...but this presence was anything but friendly.
It was menacing.
"Let's go, Levy," Lucy said softly as she quickly stood up. She hurriedly grabbed her bags, ignoring Levy's confused look, and began to hurry to her awaiting carriage. Whatever this dark force was, she wanted to get away from it. She needed to get home.
She would be safe there.
She would be safe behind the walls.
She would be safe with her Dragon.
She would not make it.
~~~~
~Eyes filled with greed watched the two girls from within the shadows. A crooked smile came to the man's greasy face. Showing off broken, black teeth. He was only there for another moment, before he slipped back into the darkness. The man was quick on his feet as he ran through the dank alleyways.
He couldn't wait to tell his Master~
The Princess is in danger!
Watchful eyes track her every movement.
Without her Dragon there to protect her,
what will become of the Princess?
Let the Adventure Continue!
