Chapter 5 Tikki Gets Another Chance

      Marinette's POV:

Marinette notices she has not heard or seen anything from Adrien for almost two weeks now. She sighs as she recalls she was the one to hurt his feelings.  If she had been more understanding maybe they could be friends.  Now, she wonders how she can speak to him when he does not wish to speak to her.

She walks past his house and almost rings the doorbell.  Almost as in, she approaches the gate area around it, but when she sees the doorbell she fails to bring herself to touch it. She has no idea what to say to him.

She leaves without a word and goes back to the park.  She sits on a bench unsure what to think now.

     Tikki's  POV:

Tikki smiles as she finishes  cooking some cookies.

"As good as this Master Fu, I beg you to give me another chance," Tikki says.

She knows she has not been the best in helping people lately.

Yet everyone has their off days, right? She thought to herself.

"Please, I want to help with Adrien, " Tikki states.

        Master Fu's POV:

"Tikki, I appreciate the offer, but Plagg is already on the job," He says.

Master Fu sees Tikki give him a look of disapproval at the mention of Plagg. He can tell she wonders what he was thinking sending Plagg out on such a delicate mission as this one.

"Tikki, I suppose you could assist her then as Plagg is with Adrien," Master Fu tells her.

        Tikki's  POV:

Tikki smiles as she hears his response.  She thinks great I get to assist someone once more and this time I will not mess up.  She knows if she does it will be far worse than last time.

"Who is this person that needs my help with love?"  Tikki asks.

She sees Master Fu raise an eyebrow as if the thought had not crossed his mind.  "Well, then, I suppose I will have to guess, but it will be tough to find her,"  Tikki blurts out.

"Her, ah yes, Tikki, you are right, for it is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you are assigned too," Master Fu states.

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng is she perhaps the girl with the dark blue hair and bluebell eyes alone in the park at this moment?" Tikki asks. She grins when Master Fu gives her a gentle nod.

She thinks I can hardly wait to get started right away.  "I will make sure to be extra careful this time, Master Fu, I promise," Tikki remarks.

Tikki smiles as he nods his head once more to give her his approval then she flies away in the direction of the park.

    Wayzz's  POV:

"Master Fu are you sure Tikki is the right one to help, Marinette?"  Wayzz asks.

"Yes, because she is the best one for the job," Master Fu replies.

"Master Fu, have you forgotten what she did last time on the job?" Wayzz asks. He can see the master appears to be forgetful or chooses to act as if he has no clue.

Wayzz pulls up a video to remind Master Fu of all the mistakes Tikki made with her last assignment.  He skips to the end where the young girl in her charge jumps off a cliff because she thinks she is a failure and Tikki is unable to stop her.

"See this is a disaster, her last charge did not make it,"  Wayzz complains. He has tears form in his eyes at the memory of it all.

"Wayzz, you can not expect me to blame Tikki on this at the girl's refusal to listen to reason," Master Fu states with a frown.

"Master, are you serious?  I might add this is not the only time Tikki's charges met an untimely end,"  Wayzz reminds him.  He sighs as he recalls there were four total people Tikki has failed to help over the years and sure hopes Master Fu knows what he is doing this time.

      Marinette's  POV:

Marinette sits in silence on the park bench and pulls out her sketchbook. She sketches a few flowers, but when it comes to the finishing touches has trouble concentrating. She sighs as she sets it back down.

"Great, what am I to do?" Marinette asks. She does not expect an answer since she speaks to herself.

She sees Tikki and jumps back right away. It is not every day she sees a red creature with black spots that talks.

"Hi, I am Tikki and I am here to help you," Tikki says.

"Wh-what are you?"  Marinette asks. She stands up on the bench now unsure if she should trust this animal or whatever it is that speaks to her now.

       Tikki's POV:

Tikki laughs at the reaction she gets from Marinette.  She finds the girl to rather silly.

She thinks at least this girl acknowledges the fact I talk, unlike the previous ones.

Tikki sees the girl glare at her in annoyance since she did answer the question.

"Well, what are you?" Marinette asks again this time a bit less harsh than the last time.

"I am Tikki, I was sent here to help you, as a love expert," She blurts out. She can see she has the girl's attention now as Marinette looks at her in surprise.

"Also, I am a kwami, but I must admit I am not that good at my job," Tikki tells her.

She sees Marinette give her a look to show she does not understand. "I had to ask my boss to give me another chance cause I am such a clumsy kwami and I failed a few times,"  She confesses.

        Marinette's POV:

Marinette stands there in shock. She can not believe her ears. This funny little thing that speaks is a kwami that specializes in love.  Then, to top it off the creature says she is clumsy and had to get permission to assist her. She shakes her head as she thinks what on earth have I gotten myself into here.

"By a few times, you mean?"  Marinette asks.

" Four times, but who is counting, right?" Tikki asks.

"Excuse me let me get this straight, you expect to help me when you failed four other times," Marinette remarks.

"Not to be ungrateful, but how do you to you expect to succeed with me?"  She asks.

She sees the spotted ladybug like creature frown. She feels bad to know she might have offended it already. Great, she thinks I have a way of doing that with everyone lately.

        Tikki's  POV:

"Look, Marinette I have to prove I can do this, or else, my master will not trust me anymore," Tikki says.

She gives Marinette a look to show she means well and longs to be her friend.

"Oh, goodness, girl, you sure about those shoes,"  Tikki remarks.

"I mean sure they are cute, but I am not so sure they are good for your feet,"  Tikki explains.

Tikki goes on to explain to Marinette how she thinks a nice pair of sandals or closed in narrow sized shoes might be better for her than the ballet style flat shoes she now wears.  She smiles as she speaks.

"Oh, and I suggest you make sure to ring the doorbell next time you go to Adrien's house," Tikki says.

She sees Marinette give her a look of surprise once more.  "It is a kwami's job to know about those she is to help, so yes, I know all about how she went past his place but chickened out,"  Tikki tells her.

Tikki thinks I got my work cut out for me this time.

     Marinette's POV:

"I might consider the shoe change, but I do not see how the whole business with Adrien is your business," Marinette blurts out.

Marinette rolls her eyes at once at the supposed magical creature. She is not sure yet rather she believes her or not as she did give up her belief in fairy tales years ago. She does know though it talks but also flies with the appearance of a ladybug.

She thinks should I give her a chance when it comes to my love life or not?  She smiles as she picks up the sketchbook and starts to make a new sketch. This time it is of her new companion who is here to assist her.

*Author's note:  Marinette does not know that the creature will not be seen no matter how many sketches she makes of her.  It is not like she knows much about kwami's after all.

She grins as she finishes the outlines of Tikki, then colors in the features which include her spots and bright red hair.  She laughs as she thinks, leave it me to need a redhead to bring me closer to Adrien.
