Chapter 21: A Little Outing

It had been a week since he had returned from Korea, and he already wanted to go back.He could still picture her tears falling when he had left her. If only he had been given the chance to pull her in, he would have, but that guy. He just had to appear and she just flung herself onto him as if he was not present. Who was he kidding? He would never be in the picture, but the least he wanted was a friendship that was lost between the years. His only hope was to help her with medical school, yet again he was rejected. She was puzzle he could never solve at this point.
Suddenly, he heard a knock and voiced that they were allowed to enter. All he could do was stare when he noticed Cecilia's parents step inside. The last people he expected to see were them.
"Hi," Dante stated with a smile as he stood up from his seat and shook hands with them, before gesturing them to take a seat. He could see the cancer treatment evident on her father's face as there were obvious patches of dark skin, indicating recovery. His figure was looser than usual and his eyes looked dull. Her mom didn't look as bad, but anyone could see the grief in her eyes and the increase in her wrinkles.
"We are sorry for bothering you, but can you please tell me how my daughter is?" Layla asked disheartened. "I know you were at Korea and from what I have seen on the news, is she really with those BTS boys?"
"Your daughter is fine," Dante told them calmly not knowing how to explain the situation. "She is at their company as an idol in training and a makeup artist."
"Idol? Makeup artist?" Layla asked in shock. She refused to believe her daughter would do any of those things.
"It's the truth though and she won't accept any help," Dante replied with a sigh.
"Please tell her to come back," Layla said as her voice broke and a tear slipped down her face. Her husband, Zack, comforted her by gently holding onto her. "We will help her with the money. Just tell her to come home again."
Dante felt bad at the scene in front of him. What was he supposed to do? Their daughter was stubborn and she had already cried and now they were too. It seemed like no one could win anything and there was no gain only loss in this situation.
He extended out a piece of paper.
"Call her," he told them. "I think it's best if you guys talk."
Layla nodded and they went out of the office, leaving Dante with more thoughts than ever.
This is the end, Cecilia. I'm letting you go and I hope you make good decisions. I hope the next time we meet, I'll have my best friend back, he thought as he got back to work.

"Ice cream it is," Eira whispered unable to breathe at this point. Did he know what was personal space? She wasn't sure and she felt like she was going to pass away if they stayed in that position any longer so she was glad when Taehyung moved away not before flashing her his famous boxy smile that drove her crazy. She was pretty close to yelling at him to stop, but he wouldn't get why.
"Is that a key?" Taehyung asked as his eyes landed on something glistening on the bench.
Eira got up and went to take a look and was disappointed when she found out it was just some wrapper. She shook her head and came back and sat again.
Taehyung noticed the frown on her face and decided to stand up by leaning against the door. Unfortunately, his arm slipped and he ended up pushing down the door handle and falling back outside on the floor.
"It's open," Eira stated in shock as she stared ahead, looking through the door; trying to absorb the scene in front of her. After a few seconds, she finally went back to normal and rushed towards Taehyung.
"Are you okay?" she asked worriedly as she looked up to Taehyung who had pushed himself up.
"Yeah," he replied as a deep flush spread across his cheeks.
"Are you sure?" Eira questioned trying to make sure he was not lying. "Let get you ice."
"I'm fine," Taehyung tried to reassure her but he had lost her as she went back inside to search for an ice pack in the mini-fridge they had inside. He went back inside and watched the brunette rummage through the fridge and grab the ice pack to where he was standing.
"Where it hurts?" Eira asked while looking up at him determined that she wouldn't back down until she knew he was safe, so Taehyung showed his elbow which kind of hurt from the fall.
Eira waited for Taehyung to sit down then placed the ice pack gently on his elbow. She continuously glanced at him then the icepack she had placed, making sure she wasn't hurting him. Taehyung smiled to himself as he watched how delicate she was with him. The way she lifted up the ice pack after a while and her eyes narrowed down while she concentrated. He didn't say anything in case she got shy all of a sudden. What mattered most to him was that he got to spend as much time as possible with her. After all, their schedule was about to get busy.
Then, an idea hit him. He was pretty excited about it but now, he had to convince everyone else about it.
"I hope it feel better now," Eira stated as she glanced at him.
"All better thanks to you," Taehyung beamed. "Ready to take some revenge?"
"Definitely," Eira replied as she felt the adrenaline kick in.
They left the room and decided to search in one of the other practice rooms and that's exactly where Eira found Cecilia enjoying her time with the rest of the boys.
"Cecilia," Eira stated with a sinister calm in her voice, making the poor girl turn around in horror.
"Finally you are out," Cecilia told her as she emphasized on 'finally", trying her best to not panic yet.
"Run," Eira warned her as she started counting down.
"Hey! I say that usually," Cecilia whined but got up anyway and looked at the boys apologetically. "I will see all you later unless I die."
Cecelia ran out of the room and Eira wasted no time running after her and all the boys could do was watch.
"So, V hyung how was it?" Jeongguk asked hoping Taehyung wouldn't notice he was there, but Taehyung knew exactly what was up.
"My phone," he stated and Jeongguk immediately handed him his phone.
"Come on Tae," Jimin complained. "We want to know what happened."
"Let me lock you both first then we will talk," Taehyung told them with a smirk and the other two boys exchanged looks of horror.
"I didn't know what was happening," Jeongguk defended.
"Me neither," Jimin added as he looked at Taehyung with puppy dog eyes.
"You helped, didn't you?" Taehyung asked not staring at Jimin too much.
"Hyung please," Jeongguk tried to reason as he got up to hide behind Jimin who pushed him right away.
"One..Two," Taehyung counted and both of the boys scrambled away like mice.
The other members rolled their eyes as they continued talking while letting the youngers deal with their problem; at least they were not involved in this childishness.
Taehyung ran after both the member after three and he caught Jimin first, who got cornered by a dead end.
"You win," Jimin surrendered and Taehyung smiled.
"Where is Jk?" he asked as he scanned the area.
Jimin shrugged as they both had gone separate ways.
"If you help, I will be more lenient," Taehyung told him.
"I'm still older," Jimin reminded him. "You should respect me."
"Really?" Taehyung asked as he rolled his eyes at Jimin who always used this excuse when he wanted his way.
"Whatever let's find JK so we can know how things went with Eira," Jimin said as he started walking.
***********
Cecilia somehow managed to lose Eira but she knew she wasn't safe as Eira could be in any of the hallways. Her eyes caught a silhouette and she got kind of scared as she thought it could be Eira. She carefully made baby steps forwards and her eyes widened when she noticed it was Jeongguk.
Why is he running? she wondered as she felt relieved it wasn't Eira. It seemed like Jeongguk had noticed her as he walked over to her.
"This was not a good idea," Jeongguk told her after he caught his breath.
"I think it good but they don't want admit it," Cecelia said with a shrug.
"Let's go out. By the time we come, I'm sure they will be calm," Jeongguk suggested as his eyes sparkled and Cecilia found herself agreeing to it with no thought. She was really starting to believe she had no control over her actions when he was there. Jeongguk smiled as he lead the way to his car.
Suddenly, Cecilia realized what happened the last time they were together.
"I don't want more rumor that ruin your marriage," Cecilia told him as she felt disappointed she had to deny this opportunity just because of rumors.
"I'm taking you somewhere no one will follow us with a camera and trust me, those rumors don't matter to me," Jeongguk reassured her as he opened the car door, so she could take a seat in the front. Cecilia trusted him, so she got into the car.
Jeongguk decided to show her a bit of Seoul since he knew she hadn't gotten to explore anywhere and was constantly busy with different things. They talked a bit through the ride making small talk and asking each other random questions. Jeongguk felt really proud of how well her Korean accent had gotten in just over a month.
He really enjoyed every moment of her being with him. It felt liberating as if nothing could stop him and the best part was how she intently listened to each word that came out of his mouth as if it was important.
Jimin hyung is really lucky, he thought as he glanced at her who had the biggest smile on her face as she excitedly pointed out.
"Beautiful," he whispered to himself as a goofy smile spread on his lips.
Jeongguk parked the car and Cecilia looked at him worriedly.
"It public place," Cecilia pointed out as she looked at the food street.
Jeongguk wore his bucket hat and lowered it down so it covered his eyes and wore a mask covering his face.
"No one can see me now," Jeongguk told her and Cecilia burst out laughing causing Jeongguk to smile in confusion as he wasn't sure what was so funny.
"Do you think ARMY dumb enough to not know you?" Cecilia asked. "Some know just with figure."
"It's a public place with food," Jeongguk pouted which made Cecilia hold her breath at how cute he looked. "People will be focused more on food. They should be or else they can leave."
"You sure about this?"Cecilia questioned as she looked outside and she had to admit the food stalls looked very appetizing.
Jeongguk nodded as he got out of the car and Cecilia followed right behind him. They walked side by side along the road as the fresh aroma of food filled their noses. Cecilia couldn't help but admire everything around her. It was full of people buying different types of foods and she wasn't even sure of what everything was. The only familiar things were red strawberries dipped in milky chocolate and fluffy pink cotton candies.
" Two tteokbokki please," Jeongguk told the woman in front of her as he handed her some money. The woman gave him his order and he walked up to Cecilia and handed her the tteokbokki.
"This is tteokbokki," he told her after giving it to her. "It's-
"Is this the thing they eat in K -dramas?" Cecilia asked and immediately wanted to kill herself. She had only seen this in K-dramas and she was sure Jeongguk was going to wish he never brought her here instead, he smiled warmly at her and chuckled lightly.
"I guess so," he smiled at her sudden act of cuteness. "It's spicy rice cakes."
"It tastes so good," she said after she took a bite of the tteokbokki.
Jeongguk immediately went back and got her another one which surprised Cecilia, and she wanted to reject as she didn't want him spending his money on her.
"All of this is my treat so you can't say no," Jeongguk told her. "I want you to have fun and not worry about the cost. It's street food. It's not even that expensive, but if you really want to repay me then I would love to eat something from you,"
Cecilia blushed at the end as she realized Jeongguk still remembered the pasta she had made.
"Deal," she smiled.
Jeongguk smiled and they continued walking. Next, Jeongguk bought her some odeng which were fishcakes on a stick. Cecilia was surprised how delicious and different it was. She was definitely going to come back again especially for the rice cakes.
They went to almost every stall and bought something new from there. Cecilia was impressed with all the flavors and she wished she had a bigger stomach to eat more, but soon enough both of them were full.
Cecilia decided to make a video of some of the places and as soon as the camera landed on Jeongguk she let out a giggle as he scrunched his nose. He started goofing around and ruining all her shots which honestly she didn't mind one bit.
"Jeongguk," She whined, but a second later she was giggling.
"What?" Jeongguk asked feigning innocence.
"You not play fair," She whined with a smile.
Jeongguk grabbed her phone and turned the camera to her and she covered her face.
"No not me," Cecilia told him and he walked to her and gently removed her hands as her heart accelerated.
"You are beautiful," Jeongguk said softly staring into her hazel eyes. "Don't hide yourself."
Cecilia would be lying if she said she wasn't lost in his eyes for the second time in one day. She wasn't sure it was possible to get used to the stars in his eyes that twinkled whenever she looked into them. How was it possible? she was still trying to figure it out herself.
As Jeongguk was still looking at her, Cecilia grabbed her phone back and giggled.
"I got it back," she smiled and Jeongguk pouted once again.
"Not fair," Jeongguk complained. "I was trying to help you and you took advantage."
"Life is unfair," Cecilia shrugged with a smile.
"I win I win," she said happily and Jeongguk just smiled at how happy she looked.
"I will win," Jeongguk told her confidently.
"I'm competitive like you so no," she smirked.
"Oh, it's on," Jeongguk told her to which she smiled at him and they shook hands making the deal official.
"Let me take a picture of you here," Jeongguk pleaded and looking at his puppy eyes made Cecilia give in, and now Jeongguk was behind the camera once more and she was in front of the camera which she had, to be honest, didn't love much.
Jeongguk admired the beauty in front of him. Her wavy curls were tied up into a ponytail, but some strands were out at the side of her face. Her makeup was lightly done with a bit of liner, mascara, and pink gloss. With just a simple outfit of dark blue jeans and white lace top, she looked absolutely stunning and Jeongguk looked for the perfect lighting to capture the beauty he saw.
After taking a couple of photos he looked at them. He felt proud of the outcome and was excited to show Cecilia.
"Let take one together," Cecilia suggested not sure if he would agree. "I not like taking alone or I can take some of you."
"Together," Jeongguk agreed and went to stand beside her. He removed the mask and placed his bucket hat a little higher and snapped a selfie of the two.
"Perfect," he added then fixed his attire. Even though it would have been nice to keep going, it was time they head out as they both had a busy day tomorrow.
They walked back to the car and drove this time more silently as they were both tired but there were no awkward silences just comfortable ones. Cecilia turned on the radio and one of their songs started playing. She glanced at Jeongguk and from one look he could tell she wanted him to sing, so he belted out singing when his part came and Cecilia stared at him with her mouth slightly open, trying to comprehend the scene in front of her.
This was so special and she was never going to forget this no matter what.
Jeongguk dropped her in front of her dorms.
"Thank you," she told him sincerely.
"I had fun so no problem," Jeongguk told her and he knew if he didn't say it now he would regret it, so he immediately added. "Let's go somewhere again soon."
"Maybe somewhere you not have to cover your whole face," Cecilia suggested with a smile.
"Sure," Jeongguk chuckled as he waved her goodbye and waited until she was inside before driving off.
Cecilia covered her face and smiled to herself. She was happy. He made her happy and she was going to enjoy these moments with him without thinking into them.
No more heartbreak, she thought to herself. As she walked inside, she found Youra staring at her.
"You were out with Jeongguk oppa? Youra questioned annoyed.
