I'm going to explain how you get the phoenix force different from the X-men version, in this story you receive the Phoenix similar to how Wanda Maximoff and Captain Marvel got their powers from the infinity stones, but you received your powers from two infinity stones, the soul and reality stone from a  meteorite-like crystal that landed somewhere in the Avengers headquarters that exploded on you and nearly killed you leaving a coma for days.
