a trip across the cosmos
I believe in faith,
I believe that one day the universe will bring my other half close to me.
However because the universe can't bring me my love, itself,
I think it'll send us an angel to connect us.
There's a place somewhere in some time.
There's a place full of light and shadows of the dead. There there is no time, there's is no morality, there's no oxygen. This place is everything and nothing at all. In the center of it, there's a castle made of bricks. It's not the only one in the cosmos but one of many. No one knows what this place looks like other than a few small details about the castle. There are a few people who've went there; there are people who've seen the center of life. People either refuse to describe the place they saw or aren't even alive to begin with.
Legend has it that if the place calls you and you choose to go, you won't come back.
But oh, legends are nothing but tales from grumpy old fools who can't to play with their children's minds. The truth-the real truth-is that there are about twenty one people in each lifetime who know about this place and what it looks like. Five of them have even visited once or twice. The structure is old and seems ready to collapse, it won't though-it will stand proudly for at least nine more centuries-and the gardens surrounding it are breathtaking. This place isn't the nightmare, the afterlife, most people think it is.
Yet at this very moment it looks exactly like a nightmare, or an extract taking from Beauty and the Beast.
"I do not regret what I have done."that's a lie. Everything she tells herself these past few days is a lie. She can't handle truths anymore. A truth is dangerous, the truth breaks them apart. It was never her choice, but she always knew the truths of others. She had already seen them. Thus, she could easily understand what was right and what was wrong. This was wrong, end of story. But the day she would admit her selfish mistake would be the day the seas dried and the fire burned down the world."You have no right to be mad at me."
"I'm not mad,"the dark skinned man states while shaking his head. He looks numb-yet strict-it's this lack of emotion that terrifies her the most. She doesn't want to see the revengeful side of the Gods, she doesn't want to be punished for being human. She can't be punished for a simple mistake."I'm disappointed."
"I couldn't just sit there while you let innocent people die."
"You think they'll still live? Do you think there was ever a scenario in which everyone lives their perfect little life?"
"You say that because you have never felt love."she tells him with bitter at the end of her tongue"You never had a person you can't live without. Do I believe that I saved everyone? No. I saved the man I love and that's enough for me."
"You're being selfish. Someone like you can not afford selfishness."
"Perhaps, but I would give my life for his."
"You're a child, dear, what do you know about love?"
You're a child. This is what everyone tells her. They're right, she doesn't have the wisdom nor the maturity that comes with age. However, her destiny is to die before she even flourishes so perhaps falling in love in such a short time made sense. Yes, most people didn't find their other half for at least five hundred years-but she wasn't most people-she could die the very next day way before her soulmate is even born.
"With all due respect, sir, if I am nothing but a child then perhaps you shouldn't had me handling this responsibility in the first place."
The man nods. If it was in his hand, she wouldn't have to handle all that responsibility. But that was the funny thing about this world, the most powerful people were the ones who had more things to lose. The two of them remained silent for a long time until the man decided to speak once more.
"I'm sending you away from home."
"You can't. Not right now. There's a war right outside our door and you want me to go South, marry a traitor and protect an island that isn't even my home while everyone I care about is being butchered."
"That's not what I meant. I can't risk your presence here since you've been having some rebellious thoughts lately. The South is still part of your district."he explained"I had another place in mind, it's a beautiful peaceful planet and most importantly very far away."
"Planet?"
"Planet."
"And what am I supposed to do there?"
"Do not worry about that yet, I have taken care of everything."
"But--"
"If something goes terribly wrong with either your parents and that dog of yours,"
"Ed is not a dog."
"Or William, I'll give you permission to return and defend both our believers and the people you love."

Rhodia was everything Pleasantville wasn't.
It was beautiful but at the same time terrifying. The people who lived there neither looked or acted like her. They looked at the newcomer from Earth as if she was an alien and for the most part, she didn't blame them. However, none of them made mean remarks about her in front and despite the fact that their eyes were following her around, not once did she saw some people whispering about her odd appearance.
"I can't live here."
"You'll fit in eventually,"James tried to comfort. The black haired boy worked alongside the Gods with five other Chosen Ones and although they lacked a special power, they were always treated with respect and honor. Their job was simple-as simple as working for someone so powerful could be-they did what the Gods were too bored of doing. In this case, James' job was to speak with her Grace, the queen of Rhodia, about Adrianne's arrival."the Rhodians can be very welcoming to strangers that can not cause them any harm. I suppose they'll like you immediately."
"What happens to those who wish to harm them?" James stopped at his tracks and slowly turned to look at her.
"The Rhodians don't forget and the Rhodians never forgive. If someone does make such a terrible mistake, they will regret it."
As the pair walked inside the narrow halls of the castle, Adrianne couldn't help noticing the Rhodians making their way through the narrow halls. They didn't seem revengeful, that much as true, and couldn't really picture any of them destroying their enemies."They scare me."
"You'll get used to it."
Soon enough, they had reached the main hall. Two guards stood by the entrance while two others-who Adrianne assumed were the queen and her king-sat in some thrones made from marble. James smiled at them and bowed while Adrianne tried to recall the few things she had read about Rhodia and its culture.
For starters, Rhodia still had aristocrats and the ruler of the place was always female. Adrianne had chuckled at that point, if Kristen was with her she would be thrilled over that custom. Moreover, their religion was quite complicated and slightly foolish. If the Rhodians chose to deny their God and embrace the Moon and Sun, they would easily win immortality. However, not only did they not believe in the same Gods as Adrianne did, but they also managed-in a way-to gain immortality with a very heavy price.
A savior.
A Chosen One.
A Legend.
Yes, every world, every city and every person awaits a Chosen One-including her-but she would never rely exclusively on a man or woman from a silly prophesy. In her world's case, their savior would could cause their destruction. A double edged sword, indeed, but at least everyone was prepared. Rhodians were different. Rhodians died almost everyday and hoped to be brought back thanks to their hero. Adrianne wondered what would happen if their hero died before the prophesy was fulfilled.
"I'm sorry, your Grace, I was not listening."
"Even if you did, I doubt you'd understood anything,"James cut in and handed her a purple pill. Adrianne looked at him confused before hesitantly taking it. Once she swallowed, her vision became blurry and her heart began pounding. She pressed both of her hands against her face and let out a big groan.
Then everything cleared up.
"I assure you, your Grace, if we had any more time, Adrianne would have learned your language. She's very bright-one of the best Mesos we have. Unfortunately, though, we had some complications and because she needed to leave in such a short notice, she didn't have the chance to learn how to communicate with you."James explained kindly to the queen who nodded in understatement. Adrianne blinked twice at the sight of her-and everyone else-there were no longer aliens in the room, the weird complexion of theirs was gone and now they seemed as manlike as possible. The queen still looked scary to the younger girl's eyes but at least it was just her firm posture rather than the odd skin she previously had."I apologize for the inconvenience but I fear that you'll have to communicate in her language for a while. On top of that, to avoid any awkwardness, Adrianne has been given a Shapeshifter pill in order to make your appearance more approachable to her eyes."
"Do you have any for us too?"the queen questioned"The girl's appearance disgusts me."
Adrianne lowered he head. This wasn't exactly what she had imagined when James had described the pacifist, friendly and kind Rhodians.
"I'm afraid not, your Grace."
"Very well, I understand that you left in a hurry so I am willing to forgive it. She can not, however, leave or wonder around unless I let her. I do not wish for my people to have to witness a stranger like her."Both Adrianne and James nodded while the King looked at his wife with discomfort. The queen ignored him, not that Adrianne was surprised if she was to think of how a royal marriage worked in Rhodia, and continued."Consider yourself a guest, I expect you'll behave like one."
"Yes, your Grace."
"I assume in your world, you'd be treated with honor, but this isn't your home. Here you're just like everyone else."
"Yes, your Grace."
"I'm glad we understand each other,"the queen turned to James"You may leave."
"Yes, right, thank you for your kindness."James smiled as politely as possible and hugged Adrianne"Good luck here. I put a wicked mirror inside your bag, if anything goes wrong or you feel lonely, you know how to use it."
"Thank you, James."
"My job is to serve the Gods and the ones in between, my lady, it was no trouble."
And so with James' departure, Adrianne was left alone. An outsider among strangers. All because she tried to be a hero and protect the ones she loved, what an irony. With these thoughts not escaping her mind, she made up her room-one of average side with white walls and no windows-and lay on the bed that was given to her. From next doors, she could hear the queen shouting furiously. Since James had mentioned that the king and queen had a son and by the way the queen spoke, Adrianne assumed the queen was yelling at her son.
She felt so much pity for the child of such a woman.
