Seraphina never thought she'd be sitting in a depressing hospital room watching her mother wither away as the doctors tried and failed to figure out what was wrong with her; but here she was, holding her mothers hand as Dr. Geyer explained how another round of test came back negative.

"I'm incredibly sorry Ms. Hayes, but unfortunately the test just keep coming back negative." Dr. Geyer explains. "I had hoped this round of tests would at least give us something to go on but for the time being we're just going to have to run some more test."

"Of course Dr. Geyer, run as many tests as you can," Kenna Hayes says.

"Yes ma'am. Sera if I could have a word with you in the hallway?" Dr. Geyer asks motioning for the door. Sera nods and follows him out into the hallway.

"So?" She asks with a hopeful look on her face.

"I'm sorry Sera, but I really don't have any news." She sighs and look past him down the hallway.

"Are you sure there's absolutely nothing-"

"There is one thing... but the first time I brought it up you refused." He says hesitating. Sera violently shakes her head.

"My mother does not have cancer."

"Sera-"

"No. There's no way that's what's wrong." Dr. Geyer sighs and leads her to some chairs in the hallway.

"I know you don't want to believe your mom has cancer and I don't either but if you just allow me to run some tests we might be able to figure this out." Sera sighs and thinks for a moment.

"Fine. But you tell me before you tell her."

"Deal." They both stand up and Sera starts to walk back into her mother's room. "Sera do you think you could do me a favor?" Sera turns and looks at him waiting for him to continue. "I'm working later than expected and-"

"I can take Liam home before I head to Scott's house." Dr Geyer smiles.

"Thank you Sera. I'll get those test results to you by the end of the week." She nods and walks into her mother's room once again.

"Darling, it's the last week of summer you should be with your friends." Kenna says sighing.

"I'd much rather be with you, plus I'm going over to Scott's in about an hour." Sera says sitting down.

"I'd like you to leave early."

"Mom-" before her mother can interrupt her Sera's phone goes off with a text from Deaton saying he had urgent news. Sera sighed and looked up at her mother. "Are you sure you'll be okay without me mama?"

"Of course I will darling. You go have fun with your friends." Kenna says patting her daughter's hand.

"I love you, mama."

"I love you most, darling." Kenna says as Sera hugs her. Sera walk out of her mother's room and starts making her way to the surgical floor. The elevator opens up to the right floor and Sera walks into the waiting room where Liam is leaning his head against the back of his chair with his headphones in and his eyes closed. Sera rips one of the headphone pieces out of his ear and smiles at him when he looks up at her.

"Jesus, Ser you scared me!" Sera chuckles.

"Sorry, Li. Your step-dad asked me to take you home. He's working later than expected." Liam nods and grabs his things, pocketing his headphones. They silently walk into the elevator and then out of the hospital. Once they get into Sera's car, that's technically her mom's, Liam of course has to ask the question.

"So how's your mom?"

"She's not getting better and Dr. Geyer hasn't figured out what's wrong with her yet." Sera says gripping the steering wheel harder.

"It's not your fault, you know. My step-dad says this happens a lot, not being able to find a diagnosis." Liam says looking at Sera from the passenger seat.

"Your step-dad thinks it could be cancer."

"He said that?"

"He said he wants to test her for it."

"And you... are okay with that?"

"If it's cancer, I'll figure it out but..."

"But?"

"But... it's hard as it is. I got a lot of shit going on right now and I think it's about to get worse. So, finding out my mom has cancer would be the icing on the already shitting cake."

"You know I'm here... I know there's certain stuff you refuse to talk about but, I'm here if there is anything you'd like to talk about..." Sera sighs and turns into Liam's neighborhood.

"I love you Li, I really do. But I'm just-"

"I get it. There's some stuff I'm not ready to talk about too.." Liam looks down at his hands and Sera pulls up next to his house and puts the car in park, turning in her seat to fully look at him.

"How about this.. when either one of us is ready to talk we do as soon as possible. No exceptions. Deal?" Sera asks holding out her pinky finger. Liam looks up at her and smiles.

"Deal." He says locking his pinky with hers.

"Day or night." Liam nods.

"Day or night." He confirms. "Thanks for the ride Ser." He says opening the passenger door and getting out.

"Anytime Li."

"Text me if you hear anything about your mom." He says and shuts the door running up to his front door and unlocking it. Sera waits until the door is completely shut before driving off, heading to the animal clinic before she heads over the Scott's to hear the plan to get Derek back.

Sera walks into the animal clinic and straight into the back where she knows Deaton will be only to find it empty. She looks around confused.

"Deaton?"

"In here." She hears him call from his office. She walks into his office to see a book open onto his desk. "I think I know what you are."

That's the end of episode one!! We haven't gotten to the actual plot of season four yet but there's some relationships I wanted to establish first before we dive in. I also wanted Sera to know what she is first, even though she's still going to have some difficulties with her powers for a while.
