Chapter 9. Gifts and Promises
Danny leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, deep in thought.
So, they had what he demanded but were still on the warpath.
Grinning, he came to a solution.
"Bullet. Please bring me the head Blacksmith. I have a special order for him and his workers. And I need them fast."
Meanwhile, Ron was celebrating. "I did it! I won!"
"Bravo, little Lion." Plasmius said. "You have bested me."
It had been about a week and a half since they had arrived here, although, according to Plasmius, time rand a bit faster here, which meant that it had only been 3 or 4 days back home.
Ron grinned hugely just as something exploded over head and confetti rained down on him.
Youngblood, the Twins and Lee Jordan cackle maniacally, vanishing as Youngblood turned them invisible.
"I'll get you for that!" Ron yelled as Plasmius raised a shield.
The quartet ran into it and returned to the visible spectrum.
Ron cast a body bind, only Youngblood escaped.
Ron and Plasmius gave each other approving nodded just as Ginny walked in, sword on her back. "What happened here?" She asked, taking in the petrified Gryffindors and the confetti.
"Nothing." George said.
Plasmius shot some kind of goo at him, gagging him efficiently.
Ginny shook her head. "Whatever it was you probably deserved it. Anyways, Fright told me that the King is gathering all the students in the throne room."
She waved her wand. "Wingardium Leviosa."
The three troublemakers levitated into the air.
"Hey. I thought you couldn't do that spell."
"I got a tutor for my charms."
"Cool. I feel like I learned a lot more here in a two weeks then I would have at Hogwarts."
"Same." Ginny said, hand brushing up against her sword. She had a smith make her one at Fright Knights bequest. She loved it.
They went down the hall, Plasmius only having to redirect them once and arrived in a massive throne room.
It had the same black and silver color scheme as the rest of the castle but a neon green carpet lead to the throne made of Onyx and Silver.
Fright Knight stood behind it, giving a nod to his young apprentice.
The students were a sight to behold.
No longer did they dress in standard robes but a strange mix of armor, tunics, leather jackets, cloaks, karate gi, cowboy hats, heavy aprons, dresses, riding gear, and casual clothes from home. Over 30 or so people had some form of instrument strapped to their backs or in their hands, a girls playing the violin and a fast pace with her friend on guitar. And another twenty had personal weapons like Ginny. But while she had been trained in Medieval swordsmanship, they had been taken in by an ancient roman ghost named Pandora, who had taught them how to fight like romans, thus roman blades.
Do not play dodgeball with Pandora's students.
Ron had learned that the hard way as they brought out shields, ducking down one row at a time so they could launch a simultaneous attack.
Ron shuddered at the memory.
He wore a cloak over his white tunic and jeans. Ginny was in light, almost norse armor. Fred, George and Lee were in pirate's getup, mimicking Youngblood.
Ron release his spell and they fell to the ground, George trying to remove the goop from his mouth.
Suddenly the chattering died down as the King entered.
Unlike whenever he wandered the castle he was dressed in royal clothes, a green cloak, white boots and belt and gloves with black tunic and leather breaches. A ring rested on his right hand.
That was normal. But what made the students gasp was the fiery green crown that rested on his brow.
He took a seat and smiled at the assembled crowd.
"The King wishes to speak. Silence in the Throne Room." Fright yelled unnecessarily. It was tradition.
Everyone turned to face the King who stood up and smiled.
"I don't know if you know me or not but my name is Daniel James Phantom, High King of Ghosts. It was on my orders that you were brought here and I see your all having a ball here. Quite literally on Tuesday."
A couple students laughed and some girls looked fondly at the boy or girl holding their hand.
"But that is not what I wish to speak about. Many of your teachers, your tutors, your friends that reside here in the zone have expressed a reluctance to say goodbye. But as many of you know, your government is a tad upset with me and I must release you sometime in the next three days. In human realm time. That's about a week here. So, with the help of the Ghost Mage Desiree, my friend Clockwork and the numerous smiths here in the Capital, we have come up with a solution."
He waved his hand and four tables, each with a colored cloth representing the house colors appeared. On them was a pile of a hundred or so bracelets each. The first were golden bands with a ruby embedded it it. The second, dark gold studded with sapphires. The third has an emerald on a silver band. The last had onyx embedded with Citrene, the yellow gem glowing.
"Now. I'm sure you recognize your house colors. And that's because there is one for each of you. It can be worn as either a bracelet, a ring, a necklace or even a circlet or a hair piece or a pin if that catches your fancy. Pretty much any jewelry can be mimicked. They can change their shape." He picked one up and put it around his wrist before pulling slightly as it extended wide enough to slip over his head.
He returned it to its original size and put it back. "But they are not just decorative. You see, anyone wearing one, or holding onto someone wearing one who is willing to bring them, can pass through the permanent portal I've ordered made in the Castle Courtyard at Hogwarts. You and your friends will be allowed to return whenever you please."
Cheers erupted from the crowd and Phantom waited until it died down.
"I will admit, I do have ulterior motives. With this, the wizarding world and my kingdom will hopefully one day be allies. I leave it to you, the future of your world to decide that. Now come. Take your gifts, however be warned. Once you have chosen, it cannot be removed by any but its wearer and I ask that you bring the new students each year here, where they will be given one of their own. Bring your siblings, your friends. Show them our world. Just give me your word, you will only bring those who have no desire to hurt me or mine through. Not only will you be ambassadors but the guardians of the portal. Now. Enough chat. Come and receive your keys."
Ron looked at Ginny and hugged her. "I was so terrified we couldn't come back." he said. "Now I can show Harry and Hermione. And we don't have to rely on those incompetent teachers anymore. I can't wait to show Hermione Ghostwriters library. "
"You'll have to bring a Wizarding chess set next time you visit." Plasmius said as the crowd divided into four and started taking their keys, Phantom watching the entire time, looking happier than ever before.
Fright Knight came down as Ginny placed a bracelet on her brow, jumping in surprise as it glowed and adjusted itself to fit her perfectly.
Ron slipped his on his finger as Fred and George got matching bracelets.
Ron looked to see a girl with black hair twist the key around her hair, weaving it into a braid, the sapphire handing at the top.
Ron stepped away and let the rest of the Gryffindors check out their new accessories.
He rather liked his, the way it glinted in the torch light, the ruby glowing softly, enchanting as any wizard enchanted piece.
After everyone had received one, some still playing with it, seeing just how many shape it could take, Phantom stood.
"Im sure most of you have realized by now that you must return to the human world soon and it's sooner than I wish but I gave my world. Please say your goodbyes and pack your belongings. You leave Midnight seven days from now."
Ron sighed. " It was nice while it lasted." He said.
